Did a treble during the week of Derry to beat Mons last Tuesday, and us and Shamrock both to win tomorrow night.
Derry odds were very generous. I don't actually think that's a great price on Shamrock tomorrow but I'm confident they'll have fire up their arses after last weekend, wouldn't fancy playing them this week.

Will watch the tv game tonigh and hope to make it to a match on monday. Shamrocks must produce a backlash tonight if they hope to hold on to the title. If Drogheda get a result they must be respected as one of the strong teams in the loI, a surprise to me for one.

Entertaining enough first half in Tallaght. Rovers playing some decent stuff but confidence still looks a bit fragile and I'd say they need to keep a clean sheet, if they concede early 2nd half it could end badly for them. Great night for slide tackles too!

Full time scores.
Talking points: Dundalk are in serious trouble, Byrne still knocking them in for Bray and Pats drop 2 points, Davin O'Neill bags a hat-trick for Cork City, Sligo showing the consistency needed to be champs, Shamrock still can't keep a clean sheet, that ExtraTime betting pundit must have been off his tree backing Athlone to beat Limerick?

Cork City 4-2 UCD Dublin

Sean McCaffrey must be walking a tight rope at this stage, good result for Monaghan, drags them back up beside the other teams in the mire again

Roddy Collins not done for yet. Cork and Derry both get vital wins and move up table. Looks like 3 teams for title, with Sligo in strong position. Ex-Galway Utd players seem to have done the business for Mervue, wonder what wages these lads are on compared to last year ?

Could they not sign a separate team to play the home games? All they'd need is a second set of contracts...

Pleasing to see we've scored the third most goals so far after Shamrock and Sligo. :)
Should be interesting to see how we do now on Monday vs Drogs, we have definitely stepped it up a gear or two since the terrible start.

That draw felt like a win! Not far off being the last kick of the game. Cracking game (well, second half) in the rain. Jason Byrne the hero for us again and John Mulroy's finish was lovely too.

Just a few things about our game in Limerick
1. Absolutely screwed by a referees decision again tonight
2. If Limerick lose Gaffney they are f**ked
3. For a team of experienced players Limerick are very nervy when teams go at them.

1st half we looked like a team and could have been 3 up at HT(see MNS). Mons off the hook so and second half we were a disgrace! McCaffrey even implying that that it was bad luck that we didnt take 3pts is pure rubbish based on 2nd half. Tactically Mons out did us second half - fair play to the Rodster in that regard! Good crowd over from Mons although its a pity they were dotted around the ground, i'd say at least 100 of them and great craic they all were! Rod came over to us for a chat after the match, no mattter what people say about him in general - he is a charismatic and interesting chap to talk to (i want to know who his his hairdresser is so i can hide my own grey hairs).
Where to now? Rodster reckons we should stick....hmmmm
Oh dear.
You really know the game is up when you are taking advice off Roddy about your manager after his team has just turned you over.

Bwin currently have St. Pat's over-priced at 7/19 to beat Dundalk at home on Tuesday. Stuck it on a double with Shamrock to beat Mons just now.
The only other bookies quoting odds for it have St Pat's at 1/4 so if you're thinking of having a punt on it, worth getting on soon!

If they have that clown Rob Rogers( seriously) refereeing any future Derry games, pile the money on a Derry win.

Roddy's greatness in the managerial sphere is only exceeded by his overall greatness as a human.

You wouldn't want to listen to McCaffrey's interviews afterwards, that's for sure. If he was that aggressive as regards on the pitch troubles..

On that note, the Airtricity League website used to at least have stats on leading goalscorers for each division, which was one of the few useful things on that rubbish website, but they seem to not be bothering with that now anymore, hasn't been updated since last year. Pathetic.

Claiming Simon Madden is not good enough to play for Dundalk,, does McCaffrey need to go specsavers. The man is a total spoofer. Madden played every single minute in every competitive match last year as captain for us. I don't remember him having one bad match and not much got past him at right back. Actually I'd go as far in saying he is the best right back in the league.
Jason Byrne for me didn't do enough last year to warrant another contract. He was unfit and about 2 stone over weight last season and the Oriel surface didn't agree with him (as with alot of players). That said he is doing well at Bray.

Trotting out the old "Alex Feguson didn't win anything for 5 years and nearly got sacked" line as well which is always worrying.

Roddy must be praying McCaffrey stays on so Mons can be saved by default and he can continue with his 'never been relegated' mantra.
