It's mad. Ye've won pretty much every game otherwise.
Against SD, Mervue, Finn Harps, Wexford and Athlone: 46 from 48.
Against Longford and Waterford: 4 from 21.

Hardly a positive sign of what ye'd do against Premier opposition. I still think you'll just about fall over the line, but Scully is doing a terrible job there.

Wow, 4 from 21. That is shocking. If we get premier and have Scully and he makes the same decisions he has this year we will be relegated as quick as promoted.

Doesn't that suggest a decade long stay in the Premier? ;)

Easily done. Once the LOI is single tier of course.

While its basically been academic for a while, Limerick are confirmed for a play-off place while Longford and Waterford are both one win from doing the same. Final placings could easily been switched right around.
The horrifying thought emerges of Limerick having to play Waterford again in a play-off.

This has been the same for all of Scully's time at Limerick. Think back a few seasons - we took 1 point from 9 against Derry, 3 from 9 off Cork, and I think 2 from 9 off Monaghan. We took 6 from 9 off Shels, but that was because they were falling apart under Keeley.
I wonder when was then last time that, over the course of a season, we took more points off the other promotion candidates in the division than they took off us.

This is without doubt the worst standard first division I've seen since we got relegated down here in 2007. Every team is rubbish. At least the last few years there were decent teams like Shels, Cork, Derry, Monaghan, Fingal etc. in it. If Limerick, Waterford or ourselves had a pair of balls at all then we'd/they'd have the league wrapped up at this stage. We had a huge opportunity to take things into our own hands for the run in last night, and having been in control of the game for 60/65 minutes or so, we completely paniced and threw away 2 stupid points. The standard of the division as a whole is shockingly poor.

Have to agree the standard is shocking. The funny thing about it is there is actually decent players in it. Any other year and I think ourselves, Longford and Waterford would be miles behind the leaders.

As I said in the game thread in the Limerick sub-forum, last nights game was the worst in terms of quality I've seen in a long time.

It wasn't just Limerick though. Waterford didn't exactly set the place alight with their constant lofted balls straight into Ryan's hands.
Edit: Though I'd blame the whistle happy official more.

Funny you mention it.
We're distressingly similar to Shels at the moment.
They murdered all the dross and did terrible against the teams around them too.
We're obviously still going to win the league.
But do we want to follow it up with a season in the Premier like Shels are having. :bulgy:

Mid table in the Premier Division is still better than being top in the first division no matter how you're playing.

Nothing wrong with what Shels are doing. Bit inconsistent but don't look in real danger of being in relegation trouble. Pretty solid start on their return to the Premier.
If Limerick are there this time next year they'll be doing okay. Then again these are the fans who said they'd have the First Division won by July so they're hard to please.

Are Shels paying way over the top wages too?

Mid table in a higher division is a higher position than top spot in the division below it.
Is that really your point??
Fairplay. :good:

They are playing horrible football infront of disappearing crowds according to a mate of a Shels mate.
They now hate the manager and most of the players.
Shels fans correct me if I'm wrong tbf.

They are just about in seventh.
Assuming Limerick go up, we should be aiming for 5th to 7th with the vast, vast, resources that we have at our disposal.
So ya, we would be doing ok.
Then again these are the fans who said they'd have the First Division won by July so they're hard to please
Limerick are averaging maybe around 700 a game this season.
Show me five fans who sincerely thought they'd have the First Division won by July.
Bear in mind that on the first of July there was fifteen games played and thirteen still to play.
The majority of Limerick fans have fairly valid cribs at the moment, fairly obvious ones, cribs that have nothing to do with not winning the league in July.
Are Shels paying way over the top wages too?
Define over the top wages??
If you mean wages that you cannot afford then Limerick aren't paying over the top wages so your point is invalid.
If you mean wages that are a reflection of performance and value for money than you could indeed argue that Shels are paying over the top wages. So are Limerick.

If this time next year Limerick are:
1. In the Premier Division (here's hoping)
2. Financially stable (genuinely don't think this is a problem, but this is the League of Ireland)
3. Not looking like returning to the graveyard that is the First Division
I'll be as happy as they come. Screw European places, cup runs, etc. They'll come with time. I just want Premier football and a healthy club.

I have never met a Limerick fan who thought we would have the First Division won by July. I've met some who thought we'd have won it by now, but only a deluded few thought it would be so easy a walkthrough as to just brush aside all opposition all season.
If Limerick are in the same position a year from now as Shels are today, I would be ecstatic.

Limerick must surely have the unwanted record of most consectutive seasons in the FD (and Athlone cant be far behind), I think I remember Limerick last being in the PD in 1994 ? Makes our horrible 7 years seem like a short trip...........
