Hopefully not involving Wexford Youths...

It must be a First Division club in trouble, otherwise they'd already have promoted the 13th club with a Premier licence?
Makes sense.
Sure they'd never promote a club with just weeks to go before the season.
No, wait a minute...

If it was a first division club that may not be getting a license who could it be?
Limerick: They could come up with any number of excuses not to I'm sure but the club seems to be being run well and should be a good addition to the premier if promoted at the end of this season.
Waterford: Have had problems in the past but haven't heard anything recently of financial difficulty etc...
Longford: Seem to be keeping there budget pretty well and will most likely get a premier license.
Mervue: Mumblings of financial trouble but nothing concrete.
Wexford Youths: Working off a modest budget and have a good ground. Surely ok despite Micks problems?
Finn Harps: Had trouble at the end of last season but have come out the other side of it?
SD Galway: Surely working off a modest budget, good facilities and seem to be full steam ahead for the new season.
Athlone: Just had the debts on the ground cleared, have a modest budget also and surely could apply for a premier license.
Anyone have a better idea of the state of the premier teams?
The silence on this is deafening

Cheers for the info.
I think it was actually a Bray poster that started the Bray story would be fantastic if it wasnt true though.
Hopefully straight forward licences get given to everyone straight away there has been enough of a mess about the make up of things next season already.
Bray will will just scrape through with a licence, there main issue was finance they are extremely in dire straits, but have made adequate cut-backs to obtain a licence although does not look good for the coming season on or off the pitch.

Yes I think that's right. It was apparently because we applied for a First Division one only by mistake. We've had a Premier Licence every year before and since, not without a hitch some years but not recently thankfully!

It now appears, according to today's papers, that the licences will be awarded this afternoon, with Limerick having won a Premier licence "If a vacancy arises in the Premier Division, Limerick will be promoted, while if there is a vacancy in the First Division, Tralee Dynamos will be elected".
hmmm....there are vacancies in the first division if they weren't so pigheaded in wanting only 8 teams. Tossers in the FAI!
Finn Harps confirm a first division license. (http://www.finnharps.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=778:finn-harps-awarded-first-division-licence&catid=39:news-from-finn-park&Itemid=101)

Thats not true at all.
How could they possibly have 4,000 seats put in place in two weeks?
The license was given for the club in case a Premier team goes down, not because of the Market's Field

If any of that is true, then it is laughable.
Even if Limerick are awarded a PD license on the basis of a ground they might have in the future, that is equally laughable.

Shelbourne Football Club would like to announce that they have, today, been notified that we have been awarded a Premier Division Licence for the 2012 Season.
I would like personally to acknowledge the help of everybody who assisted in the application process and with the subsequent follow-up work that had to be done. It is a great credit to all those volunteers that we have retained our Premier Division Licence.
A special word of thanks to Liam Ward, our Club Licensing Officer who again coordinated the whole process.
Signed,
Joe Casey

Didn't Drogheda get a licence for the premier based on plans for a new stadium or building up their ground? something along those lines anyway. It's certainly nothing new.
If we got a premier licence it's for one the following reasons I would think.
1) The Markets Field would be up to standard within a couple of months or
2) Thomond Park can be used temporarily.
Could be a combination of both also.

They will put in temporary seating for the season while work continues you hardly think the FAI would let them up to premier playing in Jackman park no chance would not even come close to premier standard. I'M guessing before this licence was awarded the FAI would surely of asked if somebody in the premier goes belly up were will ye play yer home games if we award ye a premier licence. JUst talking a guess here lads

That won't come until all clubs have been told. The potential for curveballs remains.

If we were to get Premier we would be playing in Thomond Park dont know where all this talk of Jackman is coming from...
Temporary seating would do nothing for Jackman they wouldnt let us use it as there is only one exit.
