Crazy day for Doyle today, off the bench on 80 minutes, scores on 81 minutes, sent off on 88 minutes!

Sent odd for fighting teammate Beckford after he didn't play Beckford in on the edge of the box. No footage of it yet.

Completely unnecessary to send them off. I was led to believe punches were thrown, but no, they merely squared up to each other and exchanged tense words.

Next, footballers will be getting sent off for using coarse language - oh wait.
I get where Doyle is coming from. Beckford seems like an incredibly difficult footballer to play with.

I was at the game but didn't see the incident but was happy to see them go. When Doyle came on Preston looked more dangerous.

Preston fan in his forties waits for Eoin Doyle outside the ground after the match so he can harass him; calls him a disgrace; calls him a disgrace a second time after failing to provoke a reaction; Doyle reacts verbally, and Preston fan in his forties reports Doyle to Simon Grayson and his assistant. You have to love English football fans. They can dish out the most vitriolic filth to their own players and opposition players for 90 minutes but if you say boo back to them they go crying to the authorities.
Wednesday fan here. Stayed behind after the match for my lad to get Autographs and pics from players.
Preston players were coming out intermittently and chatting to the PNE fans milling round and then Doyle came out with the knob that is Ben Pringle laughing away.
One of the Preston fans who looked a respectable guy in his mid 40's shouted at Doyle he was a 'disgrace' to which he got abused by Pringle. He once again shouted to Doyle was a disgrace to which Doyle said to the fella he had better watch his fookin back in future. Nice.
Plenty of witnesses and the guy made a point of waiting for Grayson and the Assistant to report his threatening behaviour. The Assistant did not sound surprised about Doyle and Pringles behaviour at all and asked him to put it all in a letter to him.
Interestingly the Preston fans gave Beckford a decent reaction when he came out.
Would hate to imagine any of our players showed that disrespect to fans as Doyle did.
Bizarre game and don't think our 9 men would have held out against 11.

I think it was definitely more than tense words - in the picture on the link, you see Beckford putting his head into Doyle's and this clearly set Doyle off as in the video you see him raise his arms to Beckford, although it's unclear whether this was intended as a punch or an aggressive shove because one of the other players, Johnson, was intervening and took some of the sting out of it. So I'd still say the ref was right to send both of them off. I agree about Beckford though. I saw a clip on one of the Football League shows a few years ago where Beckford, then at Leeds, nearly took a guy's head off with a blatant elbow. When the tunnel reporter started to ask him about the incident he interrupted her and screeched NOTHING HAPPENED!! When she pushed him on it again he again screeched NOTHING HAPPENED!!

If all the guy said was that Doyle was a disgrace and Doyle responded with a threat (which is what the Wednesday fan said happened), then Doyle is well out of order. However, the fact that the North End fans received Beckford well reflects badly on them - that they will harangue the badly behaved forward who isn't scoring but applaud the badly-behaved forward who is - and may be a sign that Preston might be a toxic environment for Doyle and that he should think about moving on.

Manchester Evening News report on Eoin Doyle's scouting role for Bolton Wanderers: MK Dons, Fleetwood & Lincoln trio Bolton have viewed in past as Ireland transfer potential pinpointed - Manchester Evening News (https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bolton-lincoln-mkdons-fleetwood-transfers-25586212?int_source=nba)
Bolton looked at Danny Mandriou, Promise Omochere and Darragh Burns, but did sign (from Derry City) Eoin Toal, with whom Ian Evatt, the Bolton manger, is very pleased.
