I guess those unnamed Premier League clubs weren't that interested after all them.
Hasn't played in nearly 11 months and wrong side of 30 when he picked up an Achilles injury. I'm surprised a club like Burnley are even interested unless they see him as a squad player.
Because that's the only way I would have seen a PL club having any interest if they were looking for a 4th choice CB. Even Sheffield United didn't want to offer him a contract until they got to see how he performed in training.

Still hasn't signed for anyone and doesn't seem to be match fit. Feels like his career could be in danger of tailing off with this long term injury, which is a shame when he was a later developer to start with.
That generation of players that came through in the 2010s have almost all struggled badly in their 30s and there's a good few of them without clubs at the moment - Egan, Hendrick, Arter, Clark, Christie, Randolph all clubless right now, it's not clear if James McCarthy is still at Celtic for the last year of his contract either. Duffy, Brady, Stevens all contracted but miles off their peaks. We could have done with a few of them finishing their careers strongly to help the next generation coming through.

Wasn't he linked with them a few years back too? Move would be great for him at this stage of his career. I hope he moves and gets paid well, a big contract eluded him most of his career when he really deserved it.

I wonder should we do a whip around for him if he doesn't get what he deserves. ;)
Playing in a behind closed doors friendly with West Ham tonight.

Fingers crossed he signs there. Weird there’s so many Irish lads still unsigned: Randolph, Christie, Egan, Clark, Hendrick, Connolly, Hogan

There's a whole team of Irish free agents currently.
Randolph
Christie Dunne Egan Clark
McCarthy Arter Watson
Hendrick
Hogan Connolly
Nine senior internationals and two under 21 internationals.in that team, all 11 were contracted last season, five to Premier League clubs, four to Championship clubs and two in the SPL.

I am not too sure I would give a few of them a contract myself ~ It's professional football ~ you have to be pretty sure that you are going to get a good outcome from giving all of these players professional contracts !

Randolph would still do a job down the leagues I would think. He's loaded though, so might not want the hassle.
Christie would be a good signing for a lot of teams, certainly in League 1. I'm surprised he hasn't found a club.
Dunne has been linked to Tranmere.
Egan is a particular case linked to a long term injury.
Clark again would do a job for a lot of teams down the pyramid if he wants it, he was in that uncontracted training group over the summer (as was Dunne), so is presumably still looking.
McCarthy is possibly back training with his first club, Hamilton.
Arter may struggle to get a club after taking the money at Forest for so long. He might just not be bothered now.
Watson has probably suffered due to Luton's unexpected success, but should offer something down the divisions.
Hendrick I'd have expected to pick up a contract in North America or the Middle East, but I haven't heard anything at all.
Hogan is well worth a League 1 contract I'd say.
No idea what kind of physical shape Connolly is in at this stage.

I'm thinking Watson is Louie Watson? I'd give him a contract just because of his age. Might yet still develop into something at least.
Similar with Connolly but would only do a one year deal with an option for a further year. Wages would be an issue.
Christie if he's cheap as a back up.
You'd be worried about Egans legs.
Can't think of who Dunne is and wouldn't touch the rest. Basing this off being a relegation battling team in the Championship.
Even with a title challenging team in L1 still wouldn't touch the rest of those that weren't named.

Watson is Louie Watson, recently let go by Luton. Played 27 games on loan at Charlton last year.
Dunne is Charles Dunne who has been playing regularly in the SPL for the last number of years with Motherwell and St Mirren. They're the only two non senior Ireland internationals on the "team".

That pretty much ends any remaining hopes he might have had of getting back to the Premier League. It feels like he's had a really short top level career, a late developer, early decliner and plenty of injuries in-between as well. Has been pushed down the Ireland pecking order very quickly as well with all the emerging centre backs.
