Was referring to the McCarthy story above - posted that before DI got in with an extra post so didn't quote it. You're right about Take That though...

It only takes a minute Swan....
McCarthy going to Blackburn would be bag-of-cats-esque crazy.
Long could do ok at Newcastle, it would be a decent stepping stone before Bayern or Liverpool.

You could be right. Maybe there are people who see the world in Take That and saw them in Croker while they were at, but don't want the knowledge of their greatest day to shine through and flood their reputation.
Or maybe Take That songs are so insidious they keep coming back for good. People can never forget them and have run out of patience by being kept up all night having the songs stuck in their heads meaning all they do each night is prey for these earworm tunes to go away.

I'm sure it would for a Blackburn but in terms of his style of play and the development of his game (as an Ireland fan) he'd be better off at Wigan.

Stoke after Gibson now, apparently: http://www.stoke.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=246596
Manchester United`s Darron Gibson is the latest player to be linked with Stoke this summer - after the Mirror`s Simon Bird revealed Sunderland may struggle to meet the midfielder`s wage demands.
The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international looked all set for a move to the North East to meet up with his former colleagues Wes Brown and John O`Shea but personal terms may prove to be a stumbling block and a move to Stoke could be on the horizon.
Bird told TalkSport : "His personal terms might be too much for Sunderland at the moment and he could be heading to Stoke or staying in the North West".
Meanwhile, Mick McCarthy quells talk of Doyle moving to Arsenal: http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2011/07/07/2564902/arsenal-target-kevin-doyle-loves-it-at-wolves-mick-mccarthy
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy says striker Kevin Doyle is happy at the club and has dismissed rumours of a move to Arsenal.
...
McCarthy told The Express & Star: “I can't tell you anything except what was in the papers and I'm not going to comment on some speculative story.
“What I can tell you is that Doyle loves it here.
“He enjoys coming here to work every morning, and we love him here and we enjoy him coming to work here every morning.
“That goes for everyone else as well and that will remain the same until anything different happens.”

Would be class to McCarthy at Blackburn - Are you having a laugh ? have you watched them play football or not as the cases may be
He would be wasted going there, as CD sais he would be better off at Wigan. Pure speculation it will never happen

Sunderland have just signed Vaughen as well so doubt the Gibson move is on the cards there any more... Surppised that Stoke seem to be in a position to meet a wage demand that Sunderland wouldn't mind you...

Big Sam has left the club so hopefully you will see some more football from Blackburn going forward.
You could hardly say that Dunn, Pederson or Hoilett are hoofers.

No chance, they have a few pound to spend and people like McCarthy would help secure their future. Mind you I wouldnt be too unhappy if we changed the manager.

Ah, I see, you have the auld supporter goggles on. Fair enough. I think, and would hope McCarthy has bigger fish than Blackburn when the move comes. But of course you would like to see him there.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that story comes complete with a 'recommended by Trapattoni' angle.
Charlie Darwin
10/07/2011, 3:18 PM
It seems being recommended by Trapattoni is the fastest was to ruin a transfer. Judging by the newspaper buzz over the past three years most of the Ireland squad should be at Fiorentina and Sampdoria by now.

For all the Serie A links I don't think any any italian clubs have actually made a firm offer for any Irish player in traps reign. Either all the stories are fabricated or at most clubs are sending a scout or being credited getting material from media sources in relation to an Irish player. Its always the most tentative of tentative links these so I really wouldn't expect theres anything in Doyle to Juve.
Great as it'd be.

Hmm think being managed under Poyet in a fairly attacking side, with promotion momentum, might've been the better move.
