Behan set to sign for Limerick

Limerick are set to sign former Cork City striker Denis Behan according to City boss Tommy Dunne.

The Leesiders had looked at bringing the striker back to Turner’s Cross after a failed spell cross-channel but Behan, originally from Abbeyfeale, looks set to sign for Limerick after they offered him a handsome deal.

Dunne said: "I spoke to Denis today and it looks like he's going to sign for Limerick.

“To be honest, what Limerick are paying him the likes of Shamrock Rovers would find it hard to compete with.

"I don't know where they're getting their money from, you talk about the 65% rule with regard to turnover, they're getting 300 people through the gate and they're able to dish out that sort of money.

It follows today’s announcement that Limerick have signed seven other players from local junior clubs in the county and Tipperary.

Heard there isn't much between what Cork offered & Limerick offered just that Cork's wages were mainly based on him playing - Tommy talking rubbish

Well, I've heard as Gospel that would lead me to rubbish your post. However, the truth is, we don't really know. What we do know is that, whatever about Behan, Limerick must have offered Joey a considerably better deal. Otherwise it would not make sense for him.

Main point is Joe and Denis are here now Cork fans can pretend they dont care or sulk that we are paying out millions but it changes nothing.

The Cork based newspaper that is coming to the press conference tonight will tell how Joe feels after signing for Limerick.

Truth will come out once Behan has signed as I'm sure he will be asked why he turned down City in favour of Limerick -

How can it be Gospel if you then say you don't really know.

Could anyone let me know if the signings of Behan and Gamble have actually been confirmed by the club or is it still all just speculation from the media and fans

Great signings for the club. Hopefully it'll act as a big lift to securing promotion.

While I agree with the excellent signings part (Gamble mostly), I hope by best of luck you mean best of luck finishing in third behind us! :D
