How do you make out its haunting JP.Ridiclous comment. And its actually Noirin who gave it not JP.Do your homework boss.
She did? Any proof? i rem noirin was sitting on the board of the grayhound stadium which was deeply in debt and jp had to bail it/her out with the mf included in the deal......for the benefit of limerick football.
steps came in wrong size. Hopefully lights will be up this week. Dressing rooms are supposed to be a great job. Thursdays general meetings are supposed to be a calamity. Homework compleated

You guys are a lot less positive than the Markets Field Facebook page.

Stand looking really well in the sunshine today with the first of the precast steps fitting snugly in place. Further deliveries coming in made to order over the next two weeks and lights being installed over the next while. Project really gaining pace now and second fixing nearing completion in dressing rooms. There is a real air of expectancy building up. We hope to be able to finally announce opening date very soon. Remember as always, if it's not here it's speculation. Congrats to Limerick FC on a great draw on Saturday

I don't know anything about all that kinda stuff but to my untrained eye it looks like it is coming along really well now.

Anybody see the write up a few weeks ago about the Markets Field in the local paper?

One quote was that the project is on time and will probably be completed before the original finish date that was in the plans. To me that means they never said or intended that it would be ready at the start of March.

I think POS was the only one saying that.

Passed earlier and all four floodlights erected, looks well from a distance, rest of ground looks meh average, hopefully when all seats are in the stand it'll look half decent

Meh average sounds fine to me!

Sorry osarusan calm down and don't get too excited!! I meant average as in its current state, average amount of work done still a building site nothing drastic done improvement wise, don't worry when it's finished it'll be average at best for a first division ground but below average for a premier ground.

As ive said all along it was'nt LEDP fault it was POS giving wrong info as per usual. Will that man ever learn.

Aeriel photos aside, it'll still bethe forth best ground in munster. The saving side of the present plan is that nothing permanent is going at the popular side and that the away stand isn't permanent either. Lets hope theres nothing garish in the seat colours....hint white looks good with floodlights

Markets Field re-opening June 5th vs Drogheda.

While it will be great to be back in the Markets Field and it of Jackman I feel this could be a massive blow for the club. Weird I know when you think we are moving back to the markets field.

Another month and a half in Jackman. The Cork City match being missed out on. Another month people have to wait. The crowds most likely to continue to fall. At the moment it is making for an awful return to the Markets Field. It's such an awful pity.

Overwhelming positivity there Jofspring! We get a confirmed date for our first game at our new permanent venue after 30 years of begging and borrowing and you call it an awful pity🙈 On the contrary I think it's brilliant news that we have a confirmed date and all the rumour and innuendo can be finally put to bed. Bring it on👍

what kind of a crowd will the markets field draw?the geniune diehards that are going week in week out to jackman park etc is want you want.not people who will want to be seen at the markets field when the club returns there.its been the few hundred fans that have kept things afloat since the club left the markets field and its more of those what the club really needs and not bluffers and bull****ters.

At long last some positive news the club badly needed , whatever the facilities are like in the markets field it will be great to get away from the ****e pitch in jackman park it truly is awful this season , back to Friday night football again grand job

Another delay, more POS promises up in smoke, and about to be outnumbered by away fans at home. You'll get some numbers for the first game, but then the defeats will see people not turn up, simple as. The club might act like the MF is the Holy Grail of this season, but its means much less to me now with relegation on the cards.

And I do believe we are still "borrowing" a home ground in the MF are we not?

They are sticking with Saturday nights.

On the not being positive. I'm glad we are moving to the markets field and I can't wait for us to get in there but every dog on the street can see that what was going to be a great return will now be an underwhelming one.

Thats a terrible statement. The more the merrier i say.Big crowds means revenue for club.Opening game Limerick should gather all ex limerick players that are still alive who were the last team to play there and bring them onto pitch at ht.Be a nice gesture and maybe get them and their families back supporting the Blues.Just a thought that may pay dividends.Peoples thoughts on it?

Does any one know why they still are playing Saturday night football? Is it an FAI decision? Despite the fiasco at the start of this season i think we would be getting bigger crowds if the games were on Friday nights. When we were a mid table First Division team were were drawing 700+ on Friday nights. I have only managed 2 games this season so far,the most i've missed in over 10 years. What do the rest of ye think os Saturday night football?

Jofspring
26/04/2015, 10:40 AM
Ya they are sticking with it. They had originally said Markets Field games would be a Saturday. Then when it turned out to be Jackman park they said they would stick to Saturday's to accommodate travelling support getting the trains down.

I'd agree with Oldskool, rarely dropped below that number but we were also winning games

Jofspring

Really? Barr the last few games in Jackman when we were on to win the league we were usually average around 550. On a very good night 600-700 and on a bad night 350-400.

Edit: 734 FD; 569 FD; 598 FD; 429 FD

They are our averages for 4 years in Jackman. The most recent one (734 FD) getting driven up because we had around 1,300 against Wexford Youths last game of the season.

What's done and what's left to do sounds good
Never knew they were putting in a hospitality suit catering 100 people sitting in old bar that's great.

Away end holding 340 350 seats

I read on the Markets Field Facebook site that including the initial cost of purchasing the ground that the whole redevelopment project has cost between 4 and 4.5 million euro! It also states that the LEDP will have a rolling maintenance contract which I think is brilliant. In fairness the club have hit the jackpot with this being handed on a plate to them with zero cost to the club. Makes all the negativity on this thread all the more laughable.

The club is renting the stadium for enough days that they have home games, and they'll probably struggle with that with the crowds they are going to get. They are getting nothing at "zero cost" ffs, they're just tenants. The LEDP is doing nothing out of the goodness of their hearts.

I can no longer tell if you're just a WUM or POS in disguise, but I've reached my limit of tolerance. Luckily, I can do something about that on this forum.

Ya the LEDP are really screwing us over alright. It's a disaster for the club. 10k a match I believe JP is gonna cream off the club for rent alone🙈🙈🙈

So 3 million plus for the ground/bail out of the new grayhound stadium and between 1/1.5 million on this do up of the ground. Makes sense

Hopefully this is the start of some good times. It will take patience and support from the people of Limerick. They can't expect to have a winning team on their doorstep without any support from them initially.

One more thing that can be checked off the list of things people will complain about or use as an excuse not to go to games.
