Saw in a newspaper over the weekend that Richie Partridge has been released by Liverpool. Has anyone else heard any more about this? Personally I think this is fantastic as it forces his hand to leave the Pool and get his professional career started at last.

there have always been clubs interested in him, i doubt he'll be a free agent for long, it's a shame though that it took this to force his hand to seek another club

He was offered a new 1 year deal as he was injured last season. If he moved it would be on the ESPN site which is very fast and accurate for transfers in England: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature?id=252775&cc=5739

Seems strange that Liverpool releases players without having a manager.

I'm glad to see it that Partrige has stuck it out, with a new manager I think he could finally make the breakthrough. We all know that Houllier was a donkey and Richie is a far superior player to Diouf so he really should be getting near the team.

Sounds Positive. Hopefully Benitez will give young Richie a chance when he sees what he's capable of and not just go buy some overpriced over rated muppet a la Houllier.

Tell ye what, if he doesn't make the grade at Liverpool this year we will all have to go round his house and sort him out.
Darren Potter has signed an extension to his contract which is a good sign as well, maybe a better prospect that Partridge.

Have to agree there. Been very impressed by this lad, particularly against Scotland a couple of months ago when he caught the ball full in the nethers  , and still managed to play an excellent through ball before falling in a heap.
