Congrats - sounds like a well deserved win and a well thought out tactical plan from yous.

Just in from the Showgrounds. It honestly could have been 8 or 9-0, we had so many chances including a missed peno and it was a big relief when the second goal went in as at 1-0 anything could happen. Drogs actually had a good chance in the 1st half but other than that it was one way traffic. Im pretty sure we wouldnt get away with what we were at against any other team in the league.(missed chances that is) In fairness to Drogs, Cooke has them well organised but they have so little quality that it would surprise me if they get 15 points this year. Fair play to the 30 or 40 fans that travelled and the ones that sang were a credit to their club as they didnt stop for most of the game with some good chants that made me laugh!!

He was standing on the camac in the first half of the Pats-Dundalk match

Crazy game in Inchicore. Either side could've scored 6. 2 lovely finishes by Quigley to great Dundalk counters put them 2 up. Then we just 'got at them' a bit and exposed the Centre half Hector and cashed in. He was woeful. Good finish by Dave McMillen for the first and a couple of scrappy enough ones

Great game with both sides trying to play ball and attack each other. Both defences found wanting but entertaining stuff

Happy to get the win tonight even though we didn't play well. We never seem to be convincing away to Mervue anyway and that didn't change. Thought we were worth the win overall. Gaffney looked a much better player tonight then he has done in the past against us. Scored with a decent header too. 3 wins out of 3 for us so can't complain with that

No disrespect to our Midland neighbours (well, not too much anyway) but what is with Cork? Athlone are fielding 17 and 18 year olds by and large and it doesn't sound from twitter updates like it was a complete bombardment. Credit to Kerley for organising them I guess.

*no prizes for guessing which team in my accumulator failed to win*

No need, you can get the 19 bus from outside Richmond direct to Phibsboro

Great result in Dalymount and good solid draw in Derry

Mad game in Inchicore tonight, We were woeful in the first half and Dundalk were very good going forward, They look very dangerous, 2 very good goals on the counter attack, After about 60 minutes they seemed to get tired and with Crowley replacing Mcfaul at h/t we ha a bit more steel in midfield, Could have had 6 or 7 in the last half hour

The winning goal for Dave Mulcahy on his 100th appearance for the Saints, The man is a legend

Terrific comeback from Past tonight...Im absolutely gutted. We ran the show and controlled the pace of the game in the first half but as soon as we went 2up we backed off and hoofed it. Well done Pats on the comeback.

Ye didnt expose Hector, ye hit young Nathan Murphy at left back the whole game and kept at it, thats where ye won everything that led to the goals. Hector surprisingly had a decent enough game but like the whole team, fell part for the last 20 minutes!

Take off the rose tinted glasses. He took the mick last October with his miraculous 'recovery' from 'injury' after October international week to play that Shels match and the FAI let him away lightly that time. To worm his way out again shows he couldn't give a f-k, his home country is more than welcome to him.

I'm really looking forward to the reaction here when news filters through that the Rovers team bus was bricked along with several supporters buses in Derry tonight. Obviously all the mock outragers on foot.ie will be calling for points deductions and games behind closed doors in Derry after this outrageous behaviour....

Decent game in the RSC tonight, Waterford deserved their win completely although Harps could have held out for the draw and we're a little unlucky, but saying that Ciaran Gallagher made 4 or 5 top class saves for Harps.
Waterford I thought we're very poor at the back and if it weren't for a combined effort of them having only McHugh to deal with and that they cleared up in the air they could have been roasted. Keeper was never tested.
Only thing about the place was very poor atmosphere, very quiet for 700 odd in attendance.

eh, why would Derry City FC be punished for what may or may not have happened on the streets of the city? Bizarre logic.

Monkey noises at black players, chucking bottles at linos and such carry on inside football grounds is different. But sure ye got away without point deductions etc for that too so not sure why your being so whiny about everything.

...so not sure why your being so whiny about everything...

And so the condoning and blind eye begins... :)

What with attempted pitch invasions, attempting to punch an opposition player on the pitch, 30 bottles at a player (yet not one hit, hire some locals from the Brandywell instead next time - they can hit moving targets), I'm sure condoning is the new writing letters to demand action - the new fad if you will.

Afterall since Bohs fans are more used to throwing missiles and breaking windows than having them broken on trips to Derry, I appreciate you may find the topic difficult :)

We were brilliant tonight, great to see us starting to find our old feet again.
Brilliant movement, pace, vision and bucket loads of chances.
Like a Rovers poster stated here earlier we could have easily won 6 or 7 nil.
We also had a missed penalty and had a goal dissalowed.
The changes Cook made were the difference, Kirby, Greene and Raf added so much more to the starting 11 than Ventre, Doyle and Blinkhorn, they added far more pace and quality.

It was a meaningless FRIENDLY IN CYPRUS. Whats more important a club League Game or a Friendly for your country. Get a grip yourself man if you think an Under 19 game was more important. Look how many senior players have Pulled out of FRIENDLY matches over the years and still play for their club a few days later. Will the FAI take this precident with all players Ie DUFF KEANE GIBSON etc in the future even Mc Carthy in the match against Wales pulled out and played a few days later so dont give me this crap about tinted glasses. It was an U19 game not a senior international

does not matter what level the game is if he is called up and does not go he cannot play for his team, this is not the first time he has done this the fai turned a blind eye to ensure you got promoted.fai proberly feel this time he is extracting the michael, unless of course you thinlk the rules dont apply to your club.

Understand your view but U19 internationals mean nothing. Senior Internationals I agree yes, you can even change countries after U21 level even seniors until you make a competitive appearance. If the FAI want to take our leagues players away for international duty then the clubs league game should be postponed. Linfield had theirs cancelled as Alan Blayneys is away on International duty. Premiership league and first divisions all across Europe are off this weekend due to International matches why not ours

i thing if a club has two or more players on international duty a club may request a posponment, this is just one player so the game must go ahead the LOI does not have enouugh players away on duty to warrant any cancellations.
forive me for been a little bitter but think the fai should of had the balls to make this decision last season.

Rasputin
26/03/2011, 9:56 AM
Wait a sec, is there actually a rule whereby the FAI can inforce this?
What rule was breached, I dont want to hear about the ethics or any of that tripe, what rule was breached by this lad that the FAIlures could inforce this 3 match ban?

He wasnt even in the original squad, due to other withdrawals he was called up and refused to go citing the club had prepared in training all week for the Match against Shamrock Rovers, and would be a distraction to the club. The FAI have now set a precedent with this. If they Ban one player they have to Ban everyone. Why not Ban McCarthy then for missing the match against Wales. Because they know they havent got a case to answer for. Pick on the LOI clubs but they wont pick on the English Premiership if a player pulls out of the squad. Thats what Im saying they havent got the Balls to pick on the bigger clubs

Representing your country at any level is an honour any proper Irish man should be proud to be part of.
The Derry fans complaining about the FAI finally stepping up and enforcing their own rules on them is laughable after what they have got away with over the past few years.

Remarkable comeback by Pats and great credit for the character and spirit shown.

Both side trying to play ball? You must be kidding!

Pats did what they do well. Hoofed high balls in to the box. It was certainly the right tactic on the night and exposed Murphy at left back and Hector at centre back.

Dundalk were coasting at 2-0 and a hammering looked on the cards. For some inexplicable reason they stopped playing football in the face of the direct approach from Pats second half.
