Is Robbie Brady injured?
Don't think so, he played (and scored, and was sent off) against Wolves for the reserves two weeks ago: http://www.manutd.com/en/Players-And-Staff/Reserves/Reserves-News/2011/Mar/Reserves-Wolves-3-United-3.aspx

I didn't know Madden went to Carlisle. Not exactly the headline move that was rumoured a few weeks ago.

The Manchester United reserves played their Sunderland equivalent earlier this evening, and Brady didn't play because of a ban resulting from said sending off. He's definitely not injured, so it's a bit odd he wasn't called up.

King said he wanted to try out some different players. Brady is a surefire starter in qualifiers, so he doesn't need to see him this time out.

Brady named in under 19 squad for next week along with the german lad Tidim who seemed to go missing for the last 18 months or so.

Good to hear Paul Doolin found him again. He's really earning his packet.

Definately it is a very good squad Doolin has picked. We have alot of player at this level but Brady is I guess the jewel.

Any side that can have duffy,o Brien, Mcginty and Doherty in defence and Hendrick and Wearen in midfield must have a good chance of qualifying. Maybe Tidim can score the goals with some help from McEleney!

Very strong squad, particulaly in defence and midfield. As mentioned above great to see Tidim back, I have tried to follow his progress at St Pauli, but their websites and forums are 100 years behind most in terms of updates and information.

The official st pauli website has excellent weekly updates on all their youth teams withteam line ups, scorers and match reports. Goggle translation does a good job if your german is as non existant as mine. He seems to score regularly for the 19s

Mark Connolly too

Think Gunning at this stage is more of a left back/wing back. Dunleavy of wolves is a possible centre half option that is not in the squad.

Connolly was highly thought of when he walked out on wolves. Turned 19 in December hopefully will get a look in at bolton before end of season. Captains the reserves where he plays holding midfield sometimes.

McEleaney has been called up to the under 19s. Surely he will move back to uk soon. Roberts from arsenal called up to under 17s for their qualifiers promising striker.

That's unfair - there has been far less reason to swear since Given departed.

Yes. But he wants to look at the British based players in this game.

I've only seen him on mns but Kearns looks like a decent player. How do people who know more about the league rate his chances of "making it"?

Who wood play up front?!!!Doran is obviously a winger and O Connor had played all his senior football at full back even though he may have gone to liverpool as a winger/striker

I wouldn't fall into that catagory but the few highlights I've seen of the kid, he looks the business to be fair, composed.

Only seen him live once but he looked a class above anyone on the pitch playing against the Champions.

Just tuned into a stream now. One of the Portuguese players managed the most ridiculous embellishment of an injury I've ever seen. It was like a killer whale majestically emerging from the ocean. And Bebe's playing!

Henderson looks like the sort of creative player our teams lack. Clifford too. Both of them like to drop deep to pick up the ball too. Doran looks very impressive - bigger than I remember him being, but perhaps it's just the small opposition.

Yeah, they are playing well, keeping possession and passing the ball nicely, they are missing an out and out striker though.

Maybe it's the drunk talk (it's half 3 in Korea), but our lads seem to be very technically good. Much more so than previous Irish underage teams. There are times when we look more composed than the Portuguese.

The keeper Michael Quirke is hilarious. Even the Portugese crowd are reacting to him. Not shy dishing out the orders. Just got booked for wasting time.

I think Portugal are beginning to take over. I sense a goal....

Charlie Darwin
25/03/2011, 5:42 PM
We've looked a bit ragged so far this half I think but that may be because of all the substitutions on both sides. It hasn't been a vintage game but Henderson, Gunning and particularly Clifford look to have bags of potential and try to play football on the ground. Any idea why Towell is getting booed every time he goes near the ball?

The Quirke fellow certainly isn't afraid to make himself heard. From the Shay Given school of not being a shrinking violet.

playing a lot of hoofball in this half, but when the midfield has moved up together, there's been several nice passages of play between them

One lad in green taken off on a stretcher. Name withheld until relatives are informed. He was very reckless in his challenges, means he hurt himself more than the other player he tackled.
