He was versatile but is he in goals? Also Liam Coyle and Stephen Geoghegan as full backs, strange enough. Anyway go on....

Always played well at the X. Frustrated me on many's an occasion. Always sticks out in my mind.

Did any of you guys never hear of the likes of Barry Kehoe (Dundalk) Rocky O'Brien (Bohs) Jackie Jameson (Bohs) Noel Larkin (Athlone & Rovers) Liam O'Brien (Bohs & Rovers) or possibly even the all time ever leading LOI scorer Brendan Bradley (Finn Harps & Sligo) or this just a 90`s & 00`s question ?

I'm a relative late comer to the League so most of the players I'm familiar with are from the last 3-4 years, although the Pat's team under Kerr caught my attention back in the day too so a few from there will have to sneak in. I'd go with something like this:

Brian Murphy

Owen Heary
Pat Scully
Colin Hawkins
Simon Webb

Keith Fahey
Paul Osam
Kevin Hunt
Mark Rutherford

Dave Mooney
Jason Byrne

Subs:
Barry Ryan
Peter Hutton
Stuart Byrne
Joe Ndo
Gary Twigg

Well people can only talk about what they’ve actually seen and the majority on this site are fairly young. I’ve been watching LOI regularly since the 87/88 season. Barry Kehoe was great but I’d have others ahead of him. At that stage the best days of Jameson, Larkin and Rocky were over. Liam O’B was in England

My team is based on the period 1995-2010.

1. Brian Murphy
2. Owen Heary (In his Shels days)
3. Seamus Coleman
4. Kevin Hunt
5. Peter Hutton
6. Pat Fenlon
7. Keith Fahey
8. Joe Ndo
9. Liam Coyle
10. Glen Crowe
11. Mark Rutherford

Struggled to get a left back to be honest so went with Coleman to play there even though its not his natural position.

Pat Byrne is the best player of the last 30 years in the league, I'm sure not even the bitterest Gypo would deny that. As for the rest these threads just become a popularity contest for fans' own players. Heary should be on everyone's team unless you've only started to watch LOI the last couple of seasons. It's funny when you look at some of the forwards people put in instead of Twigg. Anyhow, Buckley and Jameson were a class of their own!

OMG !!!!!! I am in agreement with almost all of your post Hoopy (Pat Byrne in his Bohs days of course:cool:). Bucko would have made it as next on bench (went for versitility of Jameson). Too early to talk about Twigg in "all time" context although he may be in future.

If Bohs/shams are agreeing on things this thread should be locked now :D its just not right.

Much like not having McCourt

I've only seen him twice for Bohs...at Tallaght and wasn't overly impressed. Definitely caught out in no-man's-land for Twigg's injury time winner. How long was he at Bohs?

I'd put it that fitness alone of even late90s players would blast a lot of the older players out of a side

He is best keeper I have ever seen in the league.

2 of the stand out performances for me over the last 10 years have been Brian Murphy in Derry when he single handidly got us a valuable point and Keith Fahey's performance in the second half of a cup semi final in Inchicore a couple of years ago. We were 3 up at half time and just managed to hold on after Fahery destroyed us in second half.

Hunt is a definate for anyone's team as well.

Hunt's a brilliant player alright, probably should be in mine in some form or fashion. But CM is very competitive. Not much to call between loads of players.

Cork somebody-or-other and Home Farm.

Probably put McGrath in for Sives. Tight call though.

Whelan Jnr played for Home Farm, Senior played (mostly) for Pats

A few older Pats fans still talk about McGrath's debut for Pats (at centre forward) and how he quickly showed he was head and shoulders above the rest of them

CTIL, you certainly did, I missed that, apologies. So these teams will be biased towards home fans as you will have seen these playes the most.

Mine, and I set a standard of having at least 2 league titles for each player, Paul McGrath the exception for his Ireland legendary displays. Very sad to note two of these are now dead , Barry Kehoe and Jackie Jameson (sub)

Richie Blackmore (Dundalk 1976 - 83)

Eoin Heary (Shels & Bohs present)
Dermot Keely (Dundalk & Rovers 70's/80's)
Tommy McConnville (Dundalk & Waterford 70`s)
Paul McGrath (Pats, 80's)

Pat Fenlon (from the Pats team late 80`s)
Barry Kehoe (Dundalk 1980 - 89)
Martin Murray (Dundalk 1985-90)
Paul Doolin (Bohs, Rovers, Shels 80`s, 90`s, 00`s)

Noel Larkin (Athlone & Rovers 80`s)
Liam Coyle (Derry 80`s & 90`s)

Jackie Jameson (Pats & Bohs 70`s/80`s)
Rocky O'Brien (Bohs early 80`s)
Liam O'Brien (Bohs and Rovers 80`s)
