I don't know if he was fit at the time of the Russia game but I'd go out on a limb and say it would be too big a match to give him his first competitive game.
Armenia is when he should have been given his first competitive start. Playing a player who had played regularly in the premiership since January and who had 95 first team appearances with Hamilton was far less a risk than playing Green. No doubt about it. I wouldn't pay any attention to him pulling out of U21 Irish squads, premiership was always going to be prioritised. He was fit and ready to go.
