Well well well well...

Seems like this isn't on the horizon here and quite possibly I am the only nut here for the sport.

Any way after a bit of warming up last week its all kicking off tomorrow woo.

Currently I have lined up on Sky+, 11 matches alone, and I can't bloody well wait.
I was meant to be heading to Zilina via Prague in order to catch Phoenix v Boston and if any if Ye can get the opportunity to do so do it.

Anyway, nothing else to be said but bring it on and GO LEAFS!

Go Habs!

I was caught off guard by the first weekend of the season. It's a big weekend in College Football and I didn't realise ESPN America would be showing none because of the NHL coverage. I've got 4 laptops lined up to help me get around that (5 screens if you include the telly) for an epic Saturday night in.

Sounds like a decent Saturday night alraight. Blackhawks fan here.

Can't see a repeat. Championship team decimated in true blackhawk fashion.

Can't wait for it, am going to the Coyotes v Bruins here in Prague on Saturday night

Rangers fan myself and think they have looked good so far in pre season, getting Prospal on another contract was a great piece of business for them too. Hopefully will make the play offs this time around, Start with a tough game away to the Sabres on Saturday

Yur tukken my tikttt! Enjoy the game. Gutted I couldn't male this in the end due to work and college. More gutted I couldn't make Bruins-Giants Select in Belfast last weekend.
Enjoy the game.
Game on ESPN today at 5pm, Minnesota v Carolina from Helsinki. Out of here at 4 to catch it. God bless Sky+.

It's on. Best of luck for the rest of the season. Here's to a canadian team being successful this season.

Looks like the Maple Leafs aren't up to much this year. No wonder this thread has tumbleweed.....

With a few months in it looks like the Canucks are steaming ahead. Canadia might stand a chance this year

Well the problem with the NHL regular season is that you get far more churn of top seeds in the early rounds of the playoffs than in the NBA, making the regular season seem to matter less. Still some good games but with over half the teams making the post-season, it's hard to care all that much except about teams battling for the last places. Come the late spring now, then it'll get fun.

Hibs4Ever

Canucks by far the best team I've seen this year. The 9/2 on them to win outright is a top bet IMO

Spudulika
06/02/2011, 6:21 AM
Dallas and Montreal might be sneaky outsiders. Vancouver have a strong roster but they're capable of blowing up when the going gets tough. It'd be nice to see a Canadian team be successful, though I have a feeling it won't be this year.

Anyone see the Bruins / Canadiens games last night - 14 (8-6 to Bruins) goals and 46 separate penalties!. At one stage there was no room left in the Boston penalty box!!! :D

Giving out about it on PTi at the moment - not sure if it's good or bad. Probably bad!

Stevo Da Gull
11/02/2011, 8:47 PM
Yeah. The Bruins have been involved in some memorable games this year. I'm looking forward to watching them in the playoffs!

I hope the Rangers qualify this year and that the Canucks can bring it when it matters. Once again there will be questions asked of Ovechkin and the Caps come the playoffs. I think they just can't wait for the playoffs, it's looked like that to me since the start of the season. They just wish it was time for the playoffs already.

Here we go...Tampa Bay at Boston now. Conference finals are go.

Come on Boston. Shame it's Versus coverage on ESPN America rather than CBC's.

Also anyone else see Bobby Ryan's goal against Nashville. It's out of this world.

So we've hit game seven of the Eastern Conference final. I'm 45 min behind live TV due to the comfort of bed. Catching up slowly but surely. Been a whopper first 10 min though.

Go Bruins.

BonnieShels

Tampa Bay 0-1 Boston

Game of the Season without a doubt.

Roll on Tuesday night.

Go Canucks.

Vancouver lead Boston 2-0 in the Stanley cup final

BonnieShels
06/06/2011, 12:11 AM
They sure do. Missed both games due to hangovers. Must be more disciplined for Tuesday.

BonnieShels
08/06/2011, 5:26 PM
And then Boston handed Vancouver their asses on a plate. 8-1 it finished.

2-1 to Vancouver overall.

BonnieShels
10/06/2011, 7:58 PM
Going into the 5th game tonight in Vancouver and its 2-2 after Boston won 4-0 on Tuesday.

1am on ESPN America.

Canucks win game five! What a game and series so far. On a side note, anyone else think the commentators are brilliant?

Well it's been easy to commentate on this series as the stoppages have been few and far between. Even with Vancouver's high penalty count last night in the first period there was a time when there was 10 straight minutes of end to end. Incredible. Missus stayed up with me watching it. Class!

CBC's coverage is incredible. I can't wait for game 6.

Stevo Da Gull
11/06/2011, 4:31 PM
I wonder what the heaviest aggregate score loss is for the winners of the Stanley Cup final? I suspect this year could be the record if Vancouver win one of the next wo matches by a slim margin... and I wont complain

BonnieShels
12/06/2011, 1:20 AM
Had you got them? I didn't fancy them in the play offs and to be honest I thought Boston would take them however as they're Canadian I can only hope they win.

Though part of me wants a Boston win on Tuesday and a game 7.

Aggregate wise it's 14-6 (14-5 in regulation).

BonnieShels
14/06/2011, 1:05 AM
Game 6 is on! BOOM!

BonnieShels
14/06/2011, 2:25 AM
17min left in the 3rd. Vancouver manages to get one back. 4-1 to Boston now.

EDIT: 16:42 gone... Vancouver had a goal disallowed.

BonnieShels
14/06/2011, 7:45 AM
Ended 5-2 to Boston. And the homer series continues.
Not a great game in comparison to the 5 that went before. However I'm glad that its gone to 7.

Boston had it sewn up in the first period.

Roll on Wednesday.

Hibs4Ever
14/06/2011, 7:50 AM
Bruins have been brilliant, hammering Vancouver in their 3 wins, while their 3 defeats have all been by just 1 goal. They have been the better team in the final and fully deserve to win the title. It's unfortunate for them that the final game is away. That said, for gambling reasons I hope the Canucks beat them :D

BonnieShels
14/06/2011, 4:38 PM
They have been. And its a shame that the likes if Timmy Thomas could lose this final after a masterclass in the playoffs. He's been immense.
I just want to see a Canadian win though.

Stevo Da Gull
15/06/2011, 12:29 AM
I'm hoping the Canucks do it, but Thomas and Boston would be worthy champions.

Had you got them?

In a bet? Nope, I stopped betting on the NHL sometime during Washington's losing streak in the regular season. They were costing me too much money.

BonnieShels
15/06/2011, 8:31 PM
And now... the end is near
and game sev-en
is heading for us
and although it's the last game
and I am sad
I know it's worth it
so come on Daniel and Hen-
rik we know you
have it in you
Beat Tim Thomas
And you'll win Staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnn-Leeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy!

COME ON VANCOUVER!

Barring a miracle this should cap a remarkable 10 years for the city of Boston. Championships for the Patriots in 01,03 and 04, Red Sox in 04 and 07, Celtics in 08, and now the Bruins look like finally adding to thier history with a first Cup for 39 years.

BonnieShels
16/06/2011, 2:40 AM
Got up late so watched the recorded stuff til I caught up with Live tv at the end of the second period.
Vancouver have been completely without ideas. Haven't done anything since the third goal went in.

Boston are deserved champions and I'm delighted for Recchi and Timmy.

3.36 to go...

BonnieShels
16/06/2011, 2:42 AM
4-0 now.
Empty net goal.

Well done Boston!
