Thanks Bossman. Disappointed that its 3 team groups again. Losing the first game is near impossible to come back from. Happy with our group though. Were dates given for the fixtures?

Any truth in rumour that the Pike players declined to play for the limerick league thats why the squad is not picked yet was talking to a pike man and he told me the same.

if thats the case get on with it.there are still enough players good enough to get on the team that would love to play oscar traynor and are being overlooked every year because thay are not playing with the so called bigger teams.

ANY PLAYER FROM ANY CLUB who declines to play for the league, can be suspended by the league if a valid excuse is not provided. Not sure if this is just a local rule in Limerick but if the rumour is true, it puts the LDMC in a pickle once again...They must be the best league in the country for shooting themselves in the feet....

Surely a player has a right to refuse to play?

Why would a player not want to represent his league and put on a Limerick Jersey is this what junior football is gone to in Limerick.

blueboy2

Its a well known fact that players playing oscar traynor football have also been picked for the Irish junior squad and have being capped for their country.
What better incentive could you want and you dont have to be a Pike or Fairview player either.

Fairkop

but sure lads last year they only had 11 players for a match in cork, every player should want to represent his league but is it being run right, going on last year it does not seem so.

I thought Aidan Ryan was back after the fiasco of last year dident he bring limerick to the final a couple of years ago only to be beaten on penalties.

Surely the standard of football in Limerick is still good enough to field great side without Pike players?

Heard from a pike man that after the shannon match last week the pike players were told by the management that if they played oscar traynor their place on the fai team would be put in jeopardy. so it will be interesting next week when the O.T. squad is named on the local paper.

possibly darren o sullivan, injured most of the season, stephen grant, dean lenihan, dont know of conor moloney? and from gary higgins on, surely some of the pike lads turned it down because there should be more on it, pat mullins pa moloney gary neville etc.. what do you think?

Overall I think its a very strong squad. There will always be a few here and there who should of got on to it but thats what personal opinions are for I suppose.
Aidan Ryan is a very professional manager and by all accounts he ran a very good ship 2 years ago and some of the players let him down against Cork throwing away a 2 goal lead.

Id say they'l get out of the group at least.

Not sure but i think those Balla players were picked before and pulled out dont know the story with the Regional players but those 2 surprise defeats to the Boro cant have helped their cause.

ronan sherlock (corbally) is a shock inclusive cos he couldn't get on starting 11 with mungret then left to go to corbally i think there's better players out there than himself

i wouldnt fully agree with you there rory.was down in tralee watching limerick v kerry 2 seasons ago when aidan ryan last had the ot team and the above named player had a great game and played a big part in getting a draw against a quality kerry outfit when other so called better players went missing.a player who can play afew positions so im sure aidan ryan sees him as a useful squad player.cant see the lad starting but as i said will provide cover for at least 3 positions.being honest i didnt even know the guy was playing with either of the above.didnt see him around at all last season.played with AA the last game i saw him around town.

Dan o Flynn was playing with wexford youths up to a couple of weeks ago.
Pike tried to sign him but he opted for Charleville hes a good player.
Heard in Jackman Park last night 26 players got phone calls all but 6 said yes.

John Meskell with Aisling is better than both Corbett and Sherlock and can play in 3 positions. Centre half, left back and midfield. I would not be surprised if he is asked into the squad.

hahaha he is a average player at best by the way corbett can play centre half he got player of the year with pike a right midfield. if meskell was as good as you say he would be in the squad i would not rate him in the top 10 midfielders in town never mind the top players in town.

your having a laugh or eating those magic shrooms again meskell better than corbett not a hope and i still dont understand why corbett wasnt asked

I would not go comparing players but Meskell is definately one of the better players I have seen playing junior football. Congrats to the Aisling lads both past (Ronan) and present (Dan and Dean) for getting on the squad.

Johnny Corbett is a very good player but hes playing 2 A football if he was up in a higher division he would probably be picked in the squad.

Apart from Redcardrorys love for Johnny Corbett I wouldn’t have him in the squad this year! If he wasn’t in it the last few years playing with Pike(start of last season included) he certainly won’t make it playing down in 2A with Moyross!
Meskell is a good strong footballer who iv seen play in a couple of positions over the years and id have him in my midfield before Ger Burke and a few more of the current squad.

More to the point......Only one keeper worries me though!!! Young Neville is a big loss

Its says in the fixtures that Carew Park are playing Corbally in the Touhy cup the thursday before the Oscar Traynor game against Clare.
If any of the Carew players get injured it doesent give them much time to recover for the game on Sunday.
