Gentlemen, first time poster on this thread. A Cork AUL man.

Good to see the forum put to good use with healthy team selection debate.

As a player of limited ability, I cannot work out how any player can turn down a chance to play representative football. Baffling..

if your training 3 nights a week and game on a weekend, sometimes your family has to get some time, i dont like the generalisation of "how can you turn down your league" i, there are other things to life than playing inter league, i would have no desire to represent the WDL no that i am anywhere near good enough and i would have no want to watch them or support bar hoping my own club men do well, the oscar traynor trophy should only go to youth level imo.

Great Point cufc.

So its upto the leagues to show how highly they rate the competition with the scheduling of games & training.

Totally True - Club first everything else a bonus if you have the time to commit yourself ! Have no problem representing a league team if you have the time(single etc..)- very hard though on lads with families, doing shift work etc..

Dont think its fair to ban a player for not showing for OT duty, it doesnt interest all as discussed previously. Also most OT managers would have club allegiance in the league, for arguements sake, the Galway Manager(lets say a Hibs man) picking a load of Athenry and Mervue players that have no interest in the OT, the players dont show, get banned, miss league games....it would give Hibs an unfair advantage in the league. Galway, hibs, Athenry, Mervue were only selected as a possible example and I'm not implying anything.

Fatboyslim,

Would you have an involvement with Ballinasloe?? I'd be surprised if the Douglas Hall suspensions/bans apply to the FAI.

Do you have the squad, i know none of the carrick united panel have put themselves forward!

They played Tramore in a challenge Weds night and only had the bare 11 and had to ask Tramore for footballs and cones. Its a joke of a set up this year, any player from Carrick that was asked was just giving a phone number and told to ring it if they wanted to play, not one person from the management set up came to Carrick to speak to the players. They bet Tramore 1nil..

Cork Bus. League 1 - Limerick Desmond 5. Limerick travelled with players some of who don't even play regular football. Time to revamp the Oscar Traynor as a whole from earlier posts on this, seems to be a lack of interest through out the country.

good performance from limerick though galway put on the pressure near the end.limerick should have been out of sight by halftime,in the second half barry hit the bar and then missed from few yards out.missed the incident for the pen but hartnet stuck it away well.thought limerick were well drilled in fairness.anyone know who the guy who came on for boyle was?

Team today was the same as the Clare match except for Gary Neville started instead of John Ryan between the sticks.

1-gary neville(Pike)
2-wayne colbert(pike)
3-brian cleary(pike)
4-pat mc garry(fairview)
5-dan goggins(aisling)
6-conor kavanagh(pike)
7-gary higgins(janesboro)
8-keith hartnett(pike)
9-alan barry(pike)
10-jonathan grant(fairview)
11-pa boyle(carew pk)

Dean Lenihan from AA came on for pa boyle! I didn’t know who he was myself but he’s meant to be a handy striker who can play on the wing also.

Thought Galway were very poor! They played for the draw that would have put them through and not once tested young Neville.I thought their long ball tactics were dealt with well by the limerick defence. Limerick were by far the better team without really ever hitting top gear. No standout players but a solid overall performance in my opinion with all players pitching in. Limerick missed a good few chances throughout the game but a scoreline of 3 r 4 would not have flattered them imo.

Poor turnout but I’m sure the United v Pool match had a lot to do with that.

Mayo and Roscommon drew 3 3 in Castlebar today. I would say that there was only about 50 people at it. Plenty of goals and missed chances near the end.

That leaves AUL just needing a draw from final game with UCL. A win for UCL would see them go through.

I would agree with Fairkop there with goggin, hartnett and alan barry been the pick of an overall solid team performance and as little as gary neville did he came and caught two good crosses at valuable times in the game so I thought he deserves a mention.

Any1 know when the quarter final draw is going to be made or has it been made already?

Result from last night.
Wicklow 0 Carlow 0
West Waterford/East Cork go through to the next round to play Limerick.
Disappointing result for both sides. 1 decent save by the Carlow keeper on the night. Wicklow keeper never tested. WWEC probably the weakest of the 3 teams, so shouldn't be too much of a test for Limerick at home.
