ROI boss Giovanni Trapattoni was hospitalized after apparently eating bad shellfish in his native Italy before arriving in Ireland on sunday.
Marco Tardelli will run the Irish show vs Argentina if Trap is not well enough to manage.
Trap was supposed to watch the U-21s vs Estonia on Tuesday but may not now that he is hospitalized. Sources said he could possibly watch on TV.

I think he meant the U21 game, which I presume will be recorded by the FAI even if it's not broadcast anywhere.
I've heard of players "not doing friendlies" - I just hope our manager isn't taking the same approach!
Dr. Alan Byrne is earning his money from these friendlies.

According to Radio 1 news, he's being kept in for more tests. Seems his condition didn't improve as expected overnight, so the consultant wants to do an x-ray as well. Looks like he'll miss the game tonight.

Giovanni Trapattoni continues to have abdominal pain. Following the results of further investigation, and consultation with his surgeon, it has been decided that the abdominal pain is as a result of minor scar tissue from previous surgery. 'To relieve the pain, he will undergo minor surgery at 3.00pm today.Get well soon Giovanni Trapattoni

Private hospital, patient insurance - unlimited cover, consultants - procedures a plenty.

this sounds like a reoccuring problem. there is nothing to stop another adhesion:

hmm that would mean only a 10 days or so before they would head out to armenia......i really do hope this adhesion dosen't cause recurring problems but for a man of his age it could well do.

He gave a press conference today, some quotes from Ken Earlys (of NewsTalk's Off The Ball fame) twitter feed:
from http://twitter.com/kenearlys/status/21416831859
just spoke to trapattoni in malahide. he looked a bit tired but says he's feeling good & will be able to work as before.
from http://twitter.com/kenearlys/status/21416982698
asked trap about s ireland. he says he's always following him but last time he spoke about SI 'you put a picture of a hedgehog in the paper'
from http://twitter.com/kenearlys/status/21417592183
he says ireland is welcome back any time; also suggests he wants SI to prove he understands primacy of team ethic, teams > great individuals
from http://twitter.com/kenearlys/status/21418021348
trap says given should stay at city rather than join a "little team" but that nearly every club in england and italy would love to have him
from http://twitter.com/kenearlys/status/21418125488
says given will still play for ireland even if he is benched at city - several other ireland regulars are in same boat (whelan, andrews etc)
Wonder if the "little team" quote is a knock against Bellamy for moving to Cardiff?

So he actually didn't say anything new about SI coming back. Thanks for posting that, I didnt think he did. I thought the poster a few above made it sound that way but..... He aint coming back.

He aint coming back.
I'd be of the same opinion. And as abhorrent as the notion is to those of us who'd bleed for the opportunity, I don't think he's interested or motivated to do so. Strange character.

Or maybe Celtic?

Do you guys really think Trap knows where Bellamy went? It would surprise me.

Saw him interviewed on news 2 last night and was surprised how good his english was. I think the man plays up the lack of english when he wants. Legend.

Probably just that Shay was also linked (as was inevitable) with a move to Celtic! Im choosing not to take Charlies bait if indeed thats what it was:D
