Was at the game very entertaining first half....the sending off before half time was always going to make things difficult but I thaught NCW were worthy winners in the end.... they have a very good record in the Desmond Cup

pitch looked fantastic but I thaught 10 euro for entry was way over the top was it not a 5 euro last year?

A good game from a neutral supporter..a bad enough evening With the weather....Newcastle west were the better team on the night..with rathkeale having 11 players I thought ncw were better than rathkeale..the red card was a definitely sending off.power took a goal bound shot and the rathkeale defender dived and nearly fisted the ball out.man of the match Gary Shanahan deserved the award as he ran the rathkeale defence into the ground..two quilligans looked good on the wings especially Thomas..unlucky also with riordan getting injured..looked like the field was in great condition.well done to the groundsman for having it look spot on..well done to both teams on getting to the final and putting up a great game

It was 10 euro as well last year, i must say that the admission at the gate of 10 euro is an absolute joke, sumting the league will seriously have to look at

What kind of crowd was at the Desmond Cup Final ?

It was a good crowd but I'd say the weather kinda stopped people from going..the stand was full and there was a good crowd around the railings

I'll go for a shannonside v Newcastle west final..I'm only going by the Desmond cup performance on both teams..Newcastle west were very good in the Desmond cup final and rathkeale weren't..shannonside are a good team and drew with Newcastle west in both league games..that should e a cracking final if both teams get to the final

A bit harsh on Rathkeale that comment, IMO they were well on top up until the sending off, that totally changed the game and the 3rd goal before half-time made it very difficult. NCW did use the extra man very well and finished comfortable winners after 2 mistakes by Rathkeale in the 2nd half. I'd fancy them to bounce back against shannonside to set up a replay v NCW.

Going back to the Desmond Cup final I thought that Newcastlewest were the better team throughout even when Rathkeale took the lead. Mikey Lyons was a huge loss to Rathkeale as NCW dominated in midfield and deserved to win. IMO the best pass of the game came when young Nash put T. Quilligan through for Rathkeale's 2nd which he Quilligan scored. I think that Rathkeale will want to beat Shannonside big time and have another go at NCW, who I expect to beat Killeaney in the semi-final.
Also I would like to mention Glin Rovers who totally turned their season around and managed to retain their status in Premier League. Congratulations to every team for making the season one to remember even though I got a pile of predictions wrong.

Went to watch killeaney v Newcastle west tonight..the funniest game iv seen in a while..killeaney went up one nil with a long range shot that the goalie wud have saved only for the sun being in the ncw keepers eyes..ncw full back shay Lyons started up front and scored a hat trick..ncw took off 3 players just past half time and Noel Murphy went in goals and ncw keeper playing up front.killeaney came back 4-2 with a good individual goal by snow and then from a free kick.think it took a deflection..ncw got their act together and held on to win 4-3

Good game yesterday between newcastle and rathkeale...both played good football with Newcastle just scoring before halftime,started in ncw left back,up to Daniel power who took on the defence and buried it to the back of the net..second goal was a great chip by Thomas butler from the edge of the box and Jason cummins made it 3-0 with a brilliant header

There is a meeting going ahead sometime this week i think to decide the outcome. Suposidly the DL never realised he played until they saw the notes for the league. I have heard Asketon are denying he played even tho they mentioned him scoring twice in their notes. I don't know if there is any truth to that tho.
