thats not very fair tipp top. the majority of leading journalists are dubs and incase you have never been to dublin they dont even think soccer exists outside of dublin so it kills them to see a man from down the country being the top dog in the fai. we all know the staunton appointment was a mistake but the irish team have made huge strides since and we all had the honour of seeing them train in our own county when they trained in cooke park a few years ago. you ask the people of a small country club in west tipp called st nicholas fc how good they felt to have trappatoni liam brady and co open their grounds that year also. the irish team had never played a game outside dublin until they played in thomond park. but as you say give the ceo job back to a 'jackeen' again sher and we will be back to the old days again.

The FAI is recognised by every genuine sports fan in this country as a shambles of an organisation, they were the laughing stock of world football when John Delaney asked "please sir can we be the 33rd team in the world cup"....we all cringed as they laughed on tv discussing it

They have always been a shambles including when his father was there and all the scandal over the world cup tickets,so it is never something to boast about being the head of an organisation such as that shower

I am a genuine sports fan and you don't speak for me, 5 years ago you would never of got anyone to visit small clubs outside Dublin, he got Paki Bonner to give out medals to our Schoolboys last year, this might not seem much to you but to every genuine sports fan working their butts off running clubs it means a lot.

the problem with this forum is that there are too many people who just use the forum to have a pop at players and clubs, the genuine football fan has given up posting or reading because it is full of guys who are new to the league and know it all,to say that the dubs were not aware of football outside the pale is outdated and frankly wrong,Peake Villa u15 team were invited to Dublin to play the irish u14 team over 10 years ago and the irish team came to Bansha then for the return fixture to play the TSSDL u15 team, Peake Villa were also invited to Dublin by the Fai to play St Patricks Athletic in a tournament with Harry Redknapp as guest of honour, you guys are unaware of all these things because you are only interested in your own clubs and having pops at your rivals than actually genuine fans of the league and i want to make it clear i am not aiming this at everyone, there are people on this forum like Balls who comments on all clubs and games and is obviously a fan and many others are the same

I know I was there! Trap has been in south Tipperary visiting clubs 4 times in the last 12 months alone and other members of the FAI team ie Paki Bonner, Liam Brady and Ray Houghton have been here a number of times this year and that is only south Tipp. You having to pull up 1 visit that lasted 15 mins over 5 years ago only makes my point for me!!

good post alright..look as much as delaney is disliked by some, he has done alot for football in tipp south and has probably helped with grants or finances with clubs. ask any chairman of a club if there is any chance of getting tickets for matches delaney springs to mind too. credit to the man he tries his best and has been through alot with the fai over his years as head..(Saipan}, people blamed him for that!FAI needs a serious shake up of personel like the Government. It would be nice to see some younger people in some of these roles, no hard feelings Mr lewis, I would like to see there expense claims over the years it would be good reading. As for the Dublin thing..first of all I would like them to change there rule about all games beong in Dublin..im sure they could throw a few games to thomond park, decent games, not like the rubbish they sent the last time..at least if this is done it wont be seen that the home of Irish football is Dublin but outside of it too. Just an idea is all.

Agreed a brilliant post, there are people on this forum who come on for the sole purpose of just abusing St Michaels which is pretty sad lets be honest....but equally there is a couple of idiots who come on in the name of St Michaels and abuse Clonmel Town players which is equally sad, as Preds says lets acknowledge players and the league and focus on football for a change, take the personal attacks elsewhere, we are privileged to have a great league

Hooper74, as genuine football fan can you honestly say that the premier league is a good league? Last season was an exception but we`re back to two teams in the running again this year. Nobody can deny that Town and Micheals form in the FAI and MJC over the years is very impressive but at what cost? I`m not having a pop at either club but is it fair that the league fixtures are set to suit runs in both of these cups e.g midweek games in august? I think we need more emphasis on making the league more competative and I don`t think that runs in these cups or players getting Irish caps is a true reflection on how the league is going. And before anybody says it getting an Irish cap is a great honour.

Celtic defeated borris 2 nil after extra time but they can count there lucky stars. The best team lost on the day, borris must have missin 5 certain goal chances. Where as celtic had 1 attempt on goal all game. Borris cant blame anyone but themselves but can be proud of there performance. They outclassed celtic all over the pitch.

thats harsh give the lad a chance to ref big game, he has not made any major errors, even the more experienced refs like hadnett, freiberg, mckell get stick on this site, so you just cant win with any ref with some people. has the makings of a good game carew not on same level as pike or fairview but meant to be a decent attacking team so could cause town a few problems. town didnt play last weekend cause of weather which is pity coming into big game like this, but they should have enough ill go for a town win 3-2 or 2-1 due to towns big day experience being a factor.
celtic also out in MJC away to anacotty another premier team from limerick, celtic dont seem to be firing on all cylinders this season but if they click on the day they have great chance. however giving aisling have home advantage they must be favs for this one. i can see it going to extra time , celtic have alot of pacey fit players who could exploit a tiring team in extra time so ill tip them to go through after extra time or on pens.
Ballingarry away in Galway will be tough for them up against a premier team from galway in galway hibs. Ballingarry seem to have lost all form lately in division 1 so are struggling but any team that has played them down through the years will vouch that they are a tough team and give very little away. they have good cup pedigree last few years i think this is 2 years in a row they have made last 64 of fai and a couple of tipp cup semi appearances but i can see them losing 2-0.
Saints play cahir this weekend in the league , good win for cahir last week versus wildies but you would have to fancy saints. If there is 2 going down is gonna be a real battle between cashel and cahir now to pick up a few points, galbally are definatly gone think there 4 or 5 points a drift now with 4 games to go.
back to saints draw for fai and mjc has been kind with home draws against clare sides. i really fancy saints for either fai or mjc this season, they have serious side put together and are due a break in my opinion have been very unlucky over last 5 or 6 years trophywise and fai this year would make up for all that

Comment like this certainly won't help. He is now damned before the game starts. Both Clonmel Town and Carew Park are good footballing sides and lets look forward to an exciting cup game. I reckon Carew Park will give it their all but home advantage should shade it for Town. Few teams leave the Complex with a cup win.

I have no allegiance to any club in South Tipp,i like to take my son to see Saints and Town and we were fortunate enough to go to the FAI junior final in Cork last year and it was a brilliant occasion,i like to see TSDL clubs do well and i just think that the appointment of this referee gives Carew Park a huge chance,he is an ego and will want centre stage and will do something silly, good luck to all teams from Tipp and i would love a Saints v Town Munster final so keep it going lads and good luck to Celtic too

that is very unfair on willie burke. so what the tsdl should give town a ref that they want to do the game is it?? willie is from clonmel so if anything town will get all the 50/50s against a team from limerick city. we are going to drive ref's out of the game lads with all these silly comments about their abilities. yes some of them love the spotlight and yes some of them are poor ref's but there are shockin ref's in the english premiership aswel this is the tsdl, get real people. i think town will have too much for carew park and win probably 2 nil.

wel hooper i think town would rather willie do the game than at least 2 of the 4 that you named above. this is a munster last 32 game not a munster final if our refs dont get a chance to do some of these games how are they going to ever improve/gain experience.

I think you should have to earn the right to get the bigger games by doing a good job in local games and i just dont feel he has done that but i hope he takes the opportunity and as a young ref in the league he is very much the future, this is far from any sort of vendetta i just have been disappointed in him in games ive seen
