its a testament to how well we played last night that I was bitterly disappointed at the end, we left that game behind us. We were excellent, all over the field. I wouldnt be Hynes biggest fan but thought he was very good last night, full of effort and honesty and worked hard throughout, playing in the lone striker role. Hyland and Sammon were immense, i cant see Vik getting back in the team any time soon with their performance. The goals were hard to take in the sense that they could have been avoided, but on the flip side we had our chances, I havnt seen us create as many chances in a game all year. First half rovers played long ball trying to counteract our 5 in the middle, but the game opened up in the second with some great football played. The whole team were excellent and hopefully we can pick up a few wins and round off a decent season mid table, i think we'll be all happy with that.
On a side note, I know it was a lovely night and a cup game, but always preferred matches at night I think there;s something special about travelling out the strokestown rd with only the lights of flancare guiding the way, I do think winter soccer would suit us better.
Thats an argument for a different day, roll on shels!

Anyone know what the attendance was extratime.ie said aprox. 1000 but im not so sure sure there was nly about 200 rovers fans.
About 1000-1100 was what I was told by someone who did the gate. There were about 500 Rovers fans I'd say.

great performance overall, felt genuinely gutted after it because it was a win left behind!thought the lads burst their ****** for the first 50 minutes and then when they had earned the right to play their football they were class, some lovely little one touch play carving open the rovers midfield! johnny lester had twigg in his pocket for the 90minutes,would think he meets too many like john on a weekly basis! salmon in the middle showed what a good player he was, when the town got into the middle third of the pitch they played they everyone wants to see football played, fast and flashy! think it was the quietest i have ever heard the rovers fans, think we shocked them a bit! overall the confidence the players should have gained from last nights performance will hopefully kick us on and give us a boost for the rest of the season!

I would echo howsyoutouch sentiments.. The two roches were top drawer for us.. its a pity they werent signed at the start of this season.. If TC can keep this team together we could be in for a very good season next season.. We hadnt played as well since the time we should have beat Bohs in 2007in Dalymount the second last league game of that season!
Rovers support were mute to say the least...I know the Section O area wasnt exactly packed but it was like the old days of old last nite and it was a hell of a long time since I lost my voice at halftime! Pity Aidan Roches shot hit the post just after rovers scored the first goal.. Mick Lee yet again stole the show in defence and John Lester had one of his better games for us.. Sammon and Hyland were top drawer in Midfield and it was great to see Hylo playing we certainly missed his bite in midfield..
