I'd say:base yourselves in Copenhagen. It's much nicer there than in boring old Malmö and the booze is better and way cheaper in Denmark!

i got this on another board about our inter-toto involvement

"For the Netherlands Heerenveen, Roda JC and NEC "signed up" for the Intertoto. Heerenveen is almost certain of UEFA-cup, so Roda JC will start in the 3rd round versus Czech Rep 1, Slovakia 1 or Armenia.
And NEC will start in the 2nd round versus Cork City or Malmö. And if they win they play France 1 in the 3rd round"

Funnily enough ive only gone to one Dutch match and the team i saw was NEC! They were slaughtered by Ajax on that occasion.

but can't Malmo also still get into the UEFA cup through the fair play league, I thought Sweden were heading that at the mo'.

Depends on whether they finished top of the "Fair play" league in Sweden last season.

Was in Copenhagen a few years ago for a city break. They don't really have a pub culture and the nicest bar we saw was an Irish one in the city centre.

At the same time its a very big city so some local knowledge might help in finding good places off the beaten track.

Was in Malmo and its much smaller. Definitely better range of accommodation in Copenhagen.Probably only worth going to Malmo on the day of the game only to mingle with home fans.

If you stay in Denmark another problem is you need Danish and Swedish currency for the trip.

Was in Copenhagen when we played Brondby a couple of years ago. The Dubliner and The Shamrock are decent Irish pubs over there, but Foleys is the dogs ******! Late license, from what I remember (which isn't much!), and plenty more non-Irish spots aswell. Fantastic-looking women, cheap booze, brilliant city - highly recommend yiz base yourselves there!

The one thing I haven't heard from any of you is: can you beat them?? They are a good side but it's high time an Irish club put one over a scandinavian side.

Depends on how they are performing i suppose. If they are doing well, i think not. If they are in mid-table then maybe yes. I wonder how seriously they will take the competition?

they drew their first match Tuesday night - Hammarby 0-0 Malmö

I reckon you have a shot, can't believe I'm saying this but you've got a good side, surprised by your start to the season thought you'd be higher up the table. You've always done well in europe, didn't you beat IFK Gotenburg at home a few seasons ago. You'll score goals but will you be able to keep a clean sheet. Bit like our problem really.

The Swedish league takes the month of June off for Euro 2004 as far as I know. Could mean that a few players will be missing.
Patrick Andersson who was signed from Barcalona has 96 caps for Sweden. Anyone know if he still gets the call up. He's pushing 33, and was captain for 2002 in Korea/Japan.

BTW
18 June 2004 - Group C
Bulgaria vs Denmark 17:00
Italy vs Sweden 19:45
19 June 2004 - Group D
Latvia vs Germany 17:00
Netherlands vs Czech Republic 19:45
20 June 2004 - Group A
Spain vs Portugal 19:45
Russia vs Greece 19:45

They look fairly $hit hot at the moment lads. And with our defence. I for one think we could have gotten a fair easier tie than this? Is Alfonso the former Real Betis player or does anyone know?

Tonight's Result
Elfsborg 1 - 5 Malmo FF FT
Malmo scores: Alfonso 30, 32, 78, Majstorovic 37, Andersson 83

Dont take much into these results as elfsborg and örebro are potential relegation candidates. Elfsborg have a coach who is just thirty with extremely little experience and its showing, their goalkeeper is muck, and the back four dont know how to play together. As for örebro they have a lot of off-field problems and are going to do well to stay up. As for Alfonso he came to Öis and sweden from brazil. malmö bought him from öis in the summer. dont build malmö up - they are very much beatable!
