Actually you could be right about the worst pitch for Urluar Purple. Its SHoneT alright. But the day we went back to Mulranny, they had cocks of hay on it....... wasnt impressed! "Johnny Le Cuff" couldnt get best manager cause he was the waterboy. The best match I dont know cause i only saw games involving Killala. But last week against Mulranny was fairly epic. And now its 6 days on the beer for some of us........... and counting!

i think the mayo league will decide this issue and let everyone know an hour before kick off on the first day of next season. i know its an awful difficult situation they are in. mmmmmm how do we make a 10 team division into an 8 team without people noticing......:confused::confused:

Urlaur 2-2 Killala
A first half which was pretty even, second half saw 2 spectacolar goals from Heffo and gave away 2 bad goals. It was a a pure end of season game with nothing riding on it. It showed the value of a big squad mising 6 lads who had holidays booked before hand.

Team of the Division
Now that the division is finished toughts turn to the team of the year,we should get 4 maybe 5.Certantes should be Mat Webb at right back, Ollie Clark at centre back, Rory Gallagher(Gigsy) player of the division 24 goals, Johny Mc Nulty(Malloco). Possibilties Sean Mc Hale keeper has pulled off some wonderfull saves including a double save yesterday at the age of 42. Others i supose would be Charlie O Donnell from Mulrany, 2or3 from Conn Rangers. I hear that the dinner dance is at the end of November.

Attention all users!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a very important message. It has been brought to my attention that a certain referee has been viewing "our banter and forums" and has informed certain managers regarding the content. This is increasingly alarming and has already put me off using this forum for future posts. I would like purple monkey and round tower and achill rover and all other frequent users to reply to me on your thoughts of a certain referee viewing this and informing managers, surely impartialality is being impaired. I wouldnt mind but i quite like this referee and feel very let down by this, he is a top top referee (to speak in the words of Jamie redknapp) and i dont need to mention his name, i think we all know who though. so is this forum dead in the water or shoudl certain people be informed of this, after all it is defamation to my character and slander at best. can anyone be certain that this is me that is writing this? this is a word of warning incase i may have to bring this further in the future.

Couldn't agree more, everyone is entitled to an opinion, the option is open to every one's view, even if you don't agree.

Surely it's his right to look at it if he wants to? What harm can it do? Unless he saw those 'worst referee' bits and then told all those refs who exactly said they were the worst and then they would..... oh yeah, I see what you mean. ;)

Everyone is entitled to opinions and on these forums but there has not been too much bad things said in this forum about clubs except complaints about the state of pitches and the criticism was well deserved. But a warning to clubs especial in the bigger towns watch out where u are complaining about referees especialy if when drunk, i was told by a referee that a certain manager was giving out stink about oficials after a match and he told me that some day down line he would get this club back in a match. I would expect referee's tell each other about complaints that are said to them about referes.

This forum is about soccer in mayo.
I think referees are justified in coming on here and reading the posts like everybody else.

I know for a fact that one regular poster is a referee, and often adds insight that us players wouldn't have.

Saying that, i dont't think anyone should screen their posts to not hurt the feelings of Mayo referees

Div 1 Playoff - Castlebar Celtic B v Knock Kiltimagh on Sunday at 1pm in Swinford:

Any ideas what this play-off is for. Maybe one of them will drop down 2 divisions if they lose as they finished level on points in 8th and 9th postition in Division 1.
All will be revealed on Wednesday I suppose?????

Congrats to the 11 players who made the team especialy the 4 Killala players especialy for Sean Mc Hale who pulled off some macnificent saves for a man of his age 40+, who is playing junior soccer for us over 20 years. Disapointed that Mat Web did not get the right back position.

I think u should get the facts right Eamon was sent off once and that was once against Knock/Kilt in the cup for which he served a ban for the cup final and 3 league games that leaves him playing 15 games for the season.the next player close to Eamon would have been our own Ollie Clark.

Get ur facts right first we were not beat off the pitch in the final we were beat on penalties which could have went either way and Moy Villa has 2 players on the team. As for your claim that there is no football between us and Conn facts speak for itself Giggs is among the top scorers this season in the whole country wiyh 23 goals and 2 of the best defence records in the Mayo league. As for the asertion that Charlestown would beat any of us off the pich is waffle. Fair play they had a great season only dropping 2 points for the whole season but most of the teams were B teams.

Totally agree RT, thought ye were rugged and unplayable at times this year, espically with McNulty and Gallagher hitting the onion bag so frequently and that is essential to progress. The table doesn't lie. Conn Rangers had an excellent run in which they collected a massive amount of points. Although I would have expected the league winners to have at least 1 player nominated in midfield?? This Charlestown thing keeps rumbling on and the quality of opposition they play/beat or come up against, you can only beat the opposition in front of you is what i say, and they definatly did that this year. I have always said that there is little or no difference in the premier, 1st and part of the 2nd division. Charlestown have some excellent players and are after proving their defo much better than division 2. My opinion is that they are equal to any of the sides in division 1 but they have to prove their worth and suceed in that division before they can be rated on merrit. As for Pokers suggestion that they would beat any of ye off the pitch, well if both of ye are sucessfull in the next round of the connaught cup we will see how both sides fair out. Dont know why Poker is upset as Moy Villa have 2 players on the team of the year and they finished 4th?? Still think that Moy Villa left at least 2 results on the pitch and practically threw the game against Urlar the week before the cup final..

frankly i thought stephen cafferkey would get the nod in nets. top shot stopper, conceded least amount of goals of all teams all season (tied with conn) and on the mayo u18 team
prob couldnt have too many complaints about any other positions. Well done too Stephen "Cleansheets" McNulty. The only other real candidate we could have had decided to feck off too Holland midseason- James Kilbane- who was a goal of the Season candidate too for his strike against Castlebar Celtic (SL team) in the cup.

who got player of the division by the way? im going to assume giggsy?

There was only 1 goal difference in goals conceded between Achill-18, Conn Rangers-18 and Killala-19. As i earlier Sean has had a great season some of the saves he made, his agility for a man of his age i knoe he wont mind me saying that he is the wrong side of 40 and was un-lucky not to save a penalty or 2 in the cup-final.
Player of the division- a no contest Giggsy top scorer in all divisions in Mayo 23-25 goals.
