Yeah, he was talking about that in the interview saying how he loved playing against Manning.

Dave Seddon, who covers Preston North End on behalf of the Lancashire Evening Post, spoke to Balls.ie on the surprise of Preston fans at the exclusion of Greg Cunningham from the latest international squad, especially in light of Robbie Brady's absence through suspension: https://www.balls.ie/football/greg-cunningham-361132
We thought he would probably get a call up. Even in the provisional squad. Greg has been superb since he came to Preston, and was an under the radar signing when we signed him: he arrived as a free transfer from Bristol City. No one knew a great deal about him, he hadn't played a great deal for Bristol.
But I was doing the stats today, at Preston he has made something like 78 starts, and has never been on the bench; he's been Mr. Consistent. He was our Player of the Year last year, and he is in the running again this year.
While I wouldn't expect him to go into the Ireland squad as first choice, we thought that he would get a chance to be around the squad and show what he can do. Roy Keane has been to Deepdale to watch him and the other Irish lads, as has Steve Guppy. So we're just a bit surprised.
Gavin Cooney of Balls.ie suggests that Cunningham may have missed out due to being selected on the right of defence for Preston and playing poorly during a game that happened to be watched by Martin O'Neill:
Cunningham has mainly played as the left-back of a flat back four for Preston this season, although recent injuries forced him to briefly migrate to the opposite side: he played at right-back for a half against QPR and started the following game against Fulham in that position. He struggled somewhat, however, and reverted to left-back for the second half. Martin O'Neill was in the crowd that day, which perhaps explains why Cunningham will spend the forthcoming break at Preston's training ground.

Feared the worst when I saw he was taken off early today: https://twitter.com/pnefc/status/854005455504408577
The gaffer has confirmed that Greg Cunningham has fractured his leg and will miss the rest of the season. More to follow.

Some constitution to play on with an injury like that..

It's not that impressive to be fair. Your fibula has very little weight-bearing requirements . It wouldn't b that uncommon for lads to play on a good bit. Hopefully he gets chance with us in the world cup warm up friendlies in November

If Cardiff swoops in for Cunningham the benefit for us could be that Kevin O'Connor will have a better chance at getting on the field for Preston at left fullback.

They don't opt for O'Connor to replace him either. He's on the bench today.
Only starter is Maguire who is down for an assist for the opening goal of the match. Aboy Seani.

What's the story with horgan? Hasn't started any league games and not on bench today. Was he injured in preseason ?

He's been on the bench for all the other games this season.
Simon Grayson leaving might not help the LOI contingent there, even though it's good to see Maguire start today.

PNE fans on their forum seem to have been happy with Maguire today. "Excellent" was on poster's conclusion and there are a few more positive comments.
Apparently the stand-in for Cunningham did well too so that's O'Connor gathering splinters for a while. That said, the Championship has such a hectic schedule that he will get his chance.

Was Cunningham's stand-in the young lad Josh Earl? I haven't seen the game so I don't know who started LB.

Some sources saying the fee will be £4m.
Delighted to see him get to the Premier League. Hopefully this will allow him to mount a serious challenge to Stephen Ward.
We very well potentially could have 5 full-backs starting in the Premier League come August; Coleman, Christie and Doherty on the right and Cunningham and Ward on the left.

Amazing to think that just over a year ago our list of active Premier League defenders consisted of Coleman, O'Shea (nearing the end of his career) and Ward. If things go according to plan, next season it looks like we'll have nine (with the possibility of Masterson joining them).

Released by Preston after a season mostly spent on the bench. Think he's unlucky not to have been capped more than four times, especially with our weakness at left-back in the last few years. Unlucky with injury too at times, which didn't help,
Has signed for Galway United.
