I heard from a different commitee member that they were training in Maynooth.. I am not sure whos correct on it..

So that's Maynooth, Leixlip and Newbridge we've had mentioned so far. I think it's fair to say it'll be in Kildare somewhere.

according to the supporters club notes Derek Tyrell was signed from Mount Merrion..
http://www.ltfc.ie/news/article/?id=a94d3812-7d51-40b2-b2d1-33e06015a506

The same article has Peter Hynes as a centre half and Thomas Hyland as a forward so I wouldn't back it 100%!.

Tyrrell was with Malahide early in 2009 so he must have transfered to Mount Merrion for the start of the 09/10 LSL season in that case, Mount Merrion/Mount Moneymen have lost alot of players during the past month as they are now broke so he could have been part of their exodus

I have a feeling that Stephen Conlon was part of their Under 20 side last season as I recognise our new goalkeeping coach from before from him being manager of the under 20 side..

I was talking to Liam Lynch on facebook just now.. The reason he couldnt commit to staying with us was that he is going to the USA for a soccer scholarship in September and couldnt sign for a league of ireland club.. He said that he would have loved to stay as he loved it here..

We might see him back with us in the near future . You never know..:)

its possible donoghue was helpin out as keeper coach too at the 20s but he definitly wasnt their manager. A guy called john wilkes manages the u20s. Donoghue may also have taken over senior keeper coachin duties when tommy wright left

yeah feb 2nd in flancare at eight.. we are also playing cork and ucd but I am not sure yet whether it is home or away..

We also seem to have signed a John Paul McDonagh from Newbridge town..

read the supporters club notes here...

You might have signed a little gem there. Cousins' brother , Andy, was manager at Newbridge Town last season and when Tony was at Kildare Co, they would have played a couple of friendlies so he knows him well.

He is 27 now but would have made an impact in the League of Ireland already if it wasn't for his job as a fireman. He played in the second highest Leinster Senior League division with Newbridge and there aren't many better players than him in that division.

A left footed attacking midfielder with an eye for goal an a great shot. Kildare Co were renting Newbridge's ground which probably explains why they couldn't poach their best player and captain.

Hope he does well for you, I'm sure he will

From talking to the town PRO he said that it is from 10 to 12 and 2 to 4. If you do make it Frank76 please introduce yourself!

Well Martinho II. Sorry for the late reply. I decided not to make the venture up Sat as it was very foggy down this way as I'm sure it was for you in Longford as by pictures I seen!!! We apparently are not going to be signing Adrian Murphy and Stephen Lynch according to reports down here.

Were they poached by another club who read about them training with ye on here?

29/01/2010, 3:24 PM
Well we just had them training with us. Lynch wasn't really any better than what we have at the club already. As for Murphy he was only willing to commit to the club til July.

Theres nothing worse than seeing a lad having to leave the pitch to attend to a raging housefire down the road. Completely interrupts their concentration.

I heard from someone that Murph was thinking of going abroad which would explain why he could only commit to the club til July...

Won't make it myself tomorrow as I'll be away in England. It's a lovely set up Tullamore have down there, my sister was playing a match there on Tuesday and I couldn't believe the facilities they have, top notch stuff. Put a bit of a report up here anyway Marty. :)

I'd rather play with 10 men every week then have Freeman in our team.

Longfordian

Heard Gary Cronin is coming back as well. He was there yesterday apparently. Didn't hear any further details on the game.

Martinho II
31/01/2010, 4:54 PM
Phew! At long last I can do my match report.. Apologies I couldnt post earlier ..I have had barely a minute to myself this weekend..

Yes it is true Gary Cronin and David Freeman resigned yesterday and we also signed Fiachra McArdle from Sporting Fingal and Craig Mooney from the Irish Universities side who was training with us last week.Stefan Mullins has being promoted from the under 20s for this coming season///

The goalscorers for us was Philip Byrne, John Paul McDonagh(from a cornerkick!) and Peter Hynes..

The following were the team that played yesterday
Shanahan, Tyrell, K Cronin, Deans, P Byrne, Lester, Brady, McDonagh, Hynes, Glynn, G Cronin
subs:Fiachra McArdle, Freeman, Hyland,Conlon, Stefan mullins ( from under 20s)Craig Mooney
Players to impress were Lester,P Byrne,McDonagh, and Mooney.

Mick Lee and Justin Perrin couldnt play yesterday

Tullamores ground is some setup.. The best way to go is go by athlone and then after moate on the motorway turn right and go through Clara and the ground is a mile on the Clara side in an industrial estate.. Its easily one of the best setups from any club in the south.. I can understand why the FAI has given a reward for club of the mth..

Their managment team is Ex Athlone Town Manager Jimmy Greene and ex asst mgr Tommy Hewitt..

I will be back again thats for sure..

Town were phemomenal for the first 30 minutes.. They are a well set up side and I would be expectin the crowds to come back to us next season.. We are playing a lot more of the ball on the ground this season .. Lester and McDonagh will be in my opinion be the ticking forces for us next season..

I know I have extremely negative of the club last season but for the first time in a long while I can feel good vibes about the whole thing and everyone the club, committee and fans pulling in the same direction . Cousins in action on the touchlines is a sight to behold he was given Glynn and Hynes a rollocking for not working hard enough up front..

I for sure would expect them to finish fifth as its a big boost to have Gary Cronin back.. I will reserve judgment on Freeman for now as I told Gary Cronin that yesterday when I welcomed him back..:)

i know where you are coming from on that but I asked Philip Coffey that exact question and he confirmed to me that he has definitely resigned for us.. On the general forum it was also posted up by a Dublin City fan that he signed for us when they were discussing the pfai training camp...

Have to say, I myself am not too excited or happy about the signing of Freeman. But I will give him a few games to prove himself. He owes a few good performances for De Town after his last stint with us.

On a different note the new jersey's look pretty impressive. A huge improvement on the see through cheap ones we had last season!!!

These couldn't be the new kits surely? The away kit is different from before, but is an old Umbro template...

Couple of lads arriving from Shamrock Rovers on loan I hear on the grapevine. Striker and a full back apparently. Young players that Rovers have high hopes for.

One of the lads who I believe is coming came on tonight and looked really good. I think it's pretty much agreed but don't want to put up his name just yet just in case!. Fast young striker from last year's A Team.

He would be a very good signing for us, he won't get much football with them considering who is ahead of him

Longfordian

Yeah I think that's why they're agreeable to loaning him out, it should be good for him and us. Fingers crossed.

yep i think actually loaning good young players of the likes of bohs and shams is a great idea
anway and in general it works out well for us. its cheaper and w dont ave much to loose from it and everything to gain and if the loans work out well theres always the chanc that these club s would be more willing to send us more youngsters in the future..

mccarthy being the most notable recent sucess and that duffy guy we had on loan the year were relegated was handy enough aswell

I am glad you mentioned pauro.. The new home kit is the exact replica of the 2008 jersey under Vinny Perth stewardship.. The only difference is the crest on this one is red and PVS wont be on it. Its way better than last seasons version...
