So because it's in the Sun the FIFA rules are suddenly going to be different?

Even if Brazil ended up getting banned from the World Cup I'd imagine the replacement team would come from CONMEBOL.

Maybe they will let Ireland play Costa Rica in a play off match.

maybe :D

Haha, my work Firewall blocks The Sun as it is marked as "Gambling". True that, you are gambling with your sanity if you believe anything those trained monkeys type up on their Fisher Price typewriters.

Look, FIFA basically changed the UEFA qualifying mechanism so that the "glamour" teams could qualify easier. They won't discharge Brazil.

Let it go people.

there is about as much chance of Brazil being kicked out of the WC as me having a 4some with Holly Valance, Kate Beckinsale and Shakira.

Never gonna happen, not in a million billion years, imagine what the sponsors would say to Brazil being kicked out

They'd surely give the extra place to Costa Rica in any case

There's very few Brazilian's in Gort now.Brazil is going through a boom time of it's own right now,for some at least. So most of those that were living around Gort have gone home.2 Brazilian shop's in the town are now closed. Was great craic back in the 2006 World Cup,the town came to a standstill for every Brazil game, yellow and green everywhere:).

There's been no mention of any FIFA statement on what might happen, even in that article.

I guess the journo is thinking of the Chile case where they were threatened with being thrown out if they didn't sort out their own internal dispute (which they did). He sees this as the same and is jumping to the same conclusion. AFAIK, that case was different.

Dmanetc., the Sun is sensationalist crap and that's (understandably) why people have their doubts.

Now, if this were Tim Vickery on the BBC saying this, I'd give it a bit more attention.

Never happen in a billion years, but if it did, then Costa Rica would argue they deserve it more as they were knocked out of a world cup. Russia, Bahrain, Bosnia and Ukraine may have a thing to say. Gutter story really, nothing will come from it

If Ireland played Costa Rica in a play-off Blatter would arrange for a country capable of producing more dosh (a country like France for example) to be declared the winner. And then he would make a wise-crack.

I wouldnt even want to get in this way. Besides Trap probably has a big vacation planned somewhere weird where old people sit around and say sayings to each other and wouldnt be able to manage on short notice.

there is talk over in the usa about the world cup and north korea. some korean war vets want n.korea kicked out of the wc due to there international status. one such group is led by a congressman from some westen state saying that it nkorea are not expelled he will take it to congress to have the usa boycott the games. like what happned at the 1980 olympics with the usa boycotting the 1980 games in moscow. what if the usa does pull out? is there a choice for eire to make it? but the talk over here is big about that. as lot of korean war groups expacally in the western usa are taling about korea being expelled or the usa should pull out. this congressman might be our only hope to go. unless fifa give the spot to costa rica!!!!!!!!

Why should Ireland get the spot ahead of any other team that lost in the play-offs?

Even if this did happen, I'm sure a CONCACAF team would be chosen as the replacement regional representative.

talks of Brazil being kicked out as well from the reliable source that is The Sun

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/sunsport_columnists/2782007/Brazil-may-lose-World-Cup-spot.html

Again if it does go ahead, surely the replacement would be from the same region as the team that is gone out

I have not heard any of that talk whatsoever. There is a better chance of you seeing God than team USA pulling out. If you call Fox Football Fone In next monday night during the telecast and bring this up Eric Wynalda will get a good laugh.

Exactly, that is the important point. Yes we were complelty cheated in the playoffs, but that doesn't mean we deserve to qualify ahead of Russia Bahrain et al should a team be kicked out of the world cup
