He is 32 and not that good.

No question the guy has high level talent to do exceptional things from time to time, but some of the stats and comments I’ve seen here seem to indicate he’s a guy that doesn’t have the consistency to deliver that on a regular basis. I hear the sentiment that there was a window where this guy could have added value but we really can’t afford to waste development minutes (and that’s what the rest of this campaign is) on an uncapped 32 year old playing in what’s ultimately a second or third tier league.

And for consistency’s sake I don’t want to see McClean get any more minutes either. We really need to move on.

Well he has already played more at a higher level than Carey ever did for starters. There were no shortage of examples you could have used to make your point there to be fair but Molumbuy was a strange one.

You're right - it was a clumsy effort at qualifying the never-too-young-or-too-old viewpoint - comparing two players with a ten-year age difference and their credentials for selection. Let me try again: Molumby has 12 caps solely on the back of a loan spell at Millwall. Since then nothing except bench-warming - yet he's prominent in Kenny's set-up. If Carey is a standout in a Championship-standard league, does he not deserve a fair go too, even at the ancient age of 32?

He would. But he’s not and it’s not.

You're not a fan of Cullen so.

You're not a fan of Cullen so.

No problem with Cullen. He’s doing a fine job for us. He was called up aged 23 while playing Championship football and is now playing for one of the biggest teams in the 8th ranked league in Europe.

However, to go back on topic, the Bulgarian league is not equivalent standard to the Championship and Carey is not tearing it up, as you claim. Ignoring his age for a moment, if even one of those two claims was accurate, he’d deserve all this talk of a call up.

You win. Congratulations.

If it came to a point where there was an argument to pick that type of player somewhere in the squad, would it be Carey, Crowley or Jack Byrne. I'm almost thinking Carey has done more to merit an opportunity.

Haven't seen Carey or Crowley play and it's up in the air if Byrne is the same player he was 2 years ago. He will have to light it up for rovers to get a look in. I'm still a believer but he's a long way away right now.

IF we were looking at edge cases in that type of role I'd say Conor Ronan would be ahead of all 3 and...dare I say it...maybe Wes? Doing a fine job in League One!

Carey has left CSKA upon the expiration of his contract.

What next? A final fling in the LoI?
