after a few weeks on the bench, the winger came on last night to make his debut for Celtic, congratulations Graham

he was good for bohs last season and i must say he was very impressive and looked dangerous when on the ball.

In fairness, in did nothing of note in his 13 minute cameo. Perhaps one cross and a wayward shot. He replaced Niall McGinn who had a very impressive game - MOTM performance probably, so Carey had a lot to live up to.

Best of luck to him though - I believe he was impressive during his loan spell at Bohs, hopefully he can make the grade at Celtic.

McGinn was outsatnding last night. Not often you see a team 3-1 up have to take their full back off after 25 mins because he's been given the run-around. Then the new fella who came on....first thing he did was to get skinned by McGinn.:D

Well done to him and all that but isn't this a forum on the Irish international side and not an outlet to cheer on every journeyman who make the bench for the reserve team of a mediocre side?

You are doing your level best to turn it into a forum for juvenile sarcasm.

Plenty of fans here are aware of Carey, who has been capped at underage up to the u21s, will want to know when he makes it onto the first team and how he performs.

did well at Bohs. Showed glimpses of a very good talent and kept Killian Brennan honest but i cannot see him as a future Irish international.

But to call him a journeyman... how can a twenty year old be a journeyman? Murfinator, your post is weird.

I'm not diminishing that and he very well may become a great player for the Irish team and I hope he does. What I'm saying is there are dozens of "Graham Careys" out there who this forum couldn't give a toss about until they start knocking on the door for a half decent team. The only reason this thread is here is because he's an ex-league of ireland player and people here love nothing more than to trumpet any ex-Loi's "success" in everyones faces on the international board no matter how small.

It's probably a relevant thread but on the Loi forum, he's got very little to do with the international side right now apart from being eligible. It's not as if he played a stormer or anything, he was on the bench for a reserve side in a nothing game and came on for a few minutes and did nothing spectacular. jesus, why make a thread about it?

Actually, I'd forgotten he played in the LOI for a spell.

Reading through this thread, I really don't get your issue Murfinator. I mean, the Irish section is full of threads and posts on upcoming Irish players. Carey is a regular with the Irish under 21s and just made his European debut for Celtic. How is it NOT relevant to the Irish forum on here when an under 21 player for us makes his European debut?

It's nice to see some good news on here for a change, rather than having people wonder if some English journeymen will claim for us or something. I think you have issues with the LOI or something because Carey is far more relevant than alot of stuff that gets said here.

he's not an ex LOI player - hes a Celtic player who got loaned to a LOI team for 6 months. A player who told anyone who'd listen that he was too good for the league of ireland. Yeah, you really know what youre talking about Murfinator.

There are threads on Shane Duffy, Barry Maguire and "Nolan, O'Hara and Naughton"... all 5 have "very little to do with the international side right now apart from being eligible." What do we do, lock them all?

By the way, that huge chip on your shoulder against the LOI makes you out to be little more than an idiot and colours every post you put on this forum. Why shouldnt LOI fans celebrate their successes (of which Graham f*ckin Carey certainly doesnt count)? We get knocked down enough, its nice to make the most of the leagues successes when we can.

Me too actually. Only saw him 2-3 times. Against Drogheda in Dalymount he was taken off at half time he was that bad AFAIR.

Saw the goal on Sky News and though he sounded Irish and indeed he is with 6 U21 caps.
Great goal!!
Good video quality too, but might not stay long on youtube.
Note some pretty impressive work in the build up too.

His wiki page is a good read too

Looks to be a great prospect and one to keep an eye on.

Paul - my Canadian ladies Irish visa expired and I moved temporarily with her in 06, loved it, stayed, married her in 11, millionaire a year later.

Crosby - there is a publican here who has a story like that. He owns the Crown & Hand http://www.crownandhandpub.com/ and I'm barred for being a Fenian c*nt... (I'm sure you'll agree the Fenian part is unnecessary)

For anything else, please be patient lads, I'm working on my memoirs. ;)

When Dundee United turned him down I couldn't help but feel he should just try his luck down in England and try and move upwards there. His career in Scotland has been a downward trajectory, maybe he should have stopped swimming against the tide there and move to another beach?

Having been named in the EFL team of the year, it reminds you what a funny one Scottish football is. Moved about a bit up there and started from the bottom in England and should move up. This comparison gets knock about a bit but it's a similar enough route to Wes. Whether it brings him to Wes' final destination or not (unlikely) and I haven't seen him play in a few years but I always thought he was a gifted player when I did. Surely due a move up the ladder.

Well the way Plymouth are set up today so far gives him very little chance to shine. Very deep with no one up top even at times.

DeLorean

Might have more of chance to shine in the replay! Can't really understand why Klopp would take such a risk with his selection, their schedule is hardly that hectic.

Does he really think that we will call up someone playing in league 2? He references the Dundalk players that were called up. Let's see if Carey can move up to the Championship and have the same impact Horgan is having. The same impact he had in the Europa league.

Managers will always try to boost the confidence of their own players but this is a bit daft. If a Championship club comes in with a decent offer during the summer then we will see how concerned Adams is for the progression of Carey's career.

CraftyToePoke

More likely he's just after a good price for him, he is a player they will struggle to keep I think.
