Radiohead - new one surely in the pipeline.
Interpol - apparantly it's closer to Turn On The Bright Lights, let's hope so.
Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon (hoping they can claw back some of what made them great before their last album)..
Massive Attack - I remember looking forward to it last year though.

If Dr Dre would just release Detox, I'd be happy.
If this sounds like a familiar refrain, well.....
From the Albums Your Looking Forward To In 2009 thread
I'll just be happy if Dr Dre releases Detox
Think I remember saying that this time last year too!
From the Albums You're looking forward to in 2008 thread
Dr Dre's new album has been in the mix for while, I'd like for it to see the light of day
Ditto for me, just with Mylo instead!

Haven't they split? Strokes new album should be good, Julian Casablanca's album was a nice surprise. New albums from Evanescence and Linkin Park next year. And wait for it......
Limp Bizkit.

The Stooges new album should be great (they're redoing some of their old rarities like Open Up and Bleed) if they do it for sure. Looking forward to Black Francis's three new albums as well.

[QUOTE=Pauro 76;1285849]Not sure how Blur and Gorillaz could fit in an album in the same year really seeing as it's the same frontman...
Gorillaz album is practically finished and ready for release early next year.
Blur could conceivably record and release an album within the same year although it appears highly unlikely that Albarn wants to record another Blur album.
Most likely neither album will be toured either.............................

Bonnie Prince Billy's new album is due out in January and is supposed to have a bluegrass influence running through it, should be really interesting
Also looking forward to Part 2 of the Neil Young archive, Part 1 was well worth the outlay

Will James Williamson be playing guitar on it?
Yeah. He's now touring with what Iggy Pop labels The Stooges' second incarnation, 'Iggy & The Stooges' (since Ron Asheton's passing away put an end to 'The Stooges'), dealing with Raw Power-era songs. In saying that, they're still playing the likes of Dog and Loose, as well as Iggy's Lust For Life and The Passenger.

So the first "big" album of the year has been released, Vampire Weekend's "Contra". I wasn't a fan of their first album album at all, but there seems to be more to this one (from listening to the album on myspace.)
I noticed that Fyfe Dangerfield has an album out next week too, he's better known as the singer in the Guillemots.

Wasn't a fan of Vampire Weekend's first album either, Contra has changed my mind about them, good stuff.
Smashing Pumpkins album due in 2009, it's meant to be a double album apparantly. Without Jimmy Chamberlin. Corgan seems to be wrecking the legacy of the band, shame, they had some real classic albums.

I am liking the new one aswell, slightly more of an edge (?). In fairness its difficult to criticise the first one, it is well done. It's just hard to get into because it's so, for want of a better word, wussie :o

The first one is just Paul Simon's Graceland played by a few guys that summer in the Hamptons and seem really unlikeable. They've toned that side of things down, but kept their quirk.

Im looking forward to Pumpkins album, although if Jimmy aint doing anything on it Im starting to have second thoughts, The last album was decent with the two working together. Fantastic concert in the RDS that night.
Also heard Linkin Park have a new one out this year.
English band Hadouken, they're pretty good. New song out atm so Id imagine a new album is on the way.

Nice description. Isn't it funny how when you don't like something you'll always find a way to denounce it? Sure couldn't we say that Daft Punk are just two French nerds who wear robot outfits and take samples from silly 70s disco? While that may be technically true, their music is actually fantastic. I don't see why their liking for robots (or if they summer in Saint Tropez) is relevant.
Anyway, I loved the first album and imagine I'll have similar feelings towards the second when I hear it.

Same for the Hold Steady
New Teenage Fanclub album - "Shadows." Due in the next month or so I think. Oh Joy. Wonderful, wonderful, band. Here's a song from it. No one does glorious sunshine pop melodies like these boys. Here's a song from it. Superb as ever. One of the reasons I love music so much.

New Manic Street Preachers album, 'Postcards From A Young Man', is out in September.
According to NME "Frontman James Dean Bradfield said that the album would be an unashamedly pop-orientated affair following 2009's bleak 'Journal For Plague Lovers'.
"We're going for big radio hits on this one," he told NME. "It isn't a follow-up to 'Journal For Plague Lovers'. It's one last shot at mass communication."
