Swoon's a brilliant track. Doesn't seem to be any guest vocalists and the tracks all mix into each other. Really looking forward to this...
Epic. Really epic.

It's pretty good tbf. Chemical Brothers 'Further', just a brilliant album. No guest vocalists actually enhance the album.

Mani's recommendations are always worth checking out. I remember him biggin up a little known band in 2003 - Kasabian.

Some interesting nominations for the Mercury this year, would be nice to see Conor O'Brien win it, but I do have a soft spot for Mr Rascal, even if he did do the Engerland Song

The third album from Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, due in August I believe. Mark Lanegan is one of this planet's finer selling points imo.

It's an absolute epic. Month of May is very different for them, but still great. One or two fillers but overall best I've heard this year. Sprawl II is absolutely stunning.

.................and a guitar solo!!!!
Without Pidgeon holing it too much, its reminiscent of "Everything Must Go" era Manics - must be the Strings..............and the guitar solo!!!!

They just said on Phantom that The Suburbs was out today?! Is that right? I can't wait to get this album, I'll be pretty red faced if I could have had it today!
Think it is alright. Albums are released here a couple of days before they are in the UK.

Weezer releasing new album this year. If it's anything like Raditude (probably the worst album I've ever listened to) I won't bother.
New Grinderman album is out next month. Wasn't impressed by the new single, though I've only listened to it once.

The Coral release new album "Butterfly House" this week.
Picked this up the other week. Very disappointed with it, I'm afraid.
They've jettisoned all the quirkiness and edge that made them interesting in the first place.

Klaxons new album out this week. 'Surfing the Void'. Not quite sure what to make of it yet...

There's not been many major releases to get us talking on the music forum this year so far.
There's certainly very few releases recorded in 2010 I can think of that could be considered exceptional.
Personally, I'd rate Plastic Beach by Gorillaz album as excellent and I've heard great things about Arcade Fire's new one (while not having heard it yet!!).
Pavements "Best Of" release is excellent but is obviously a compilation of music recorded years ago.
Doves also had a "best of" release.
The Stone's re-issue of Exile on Main Street is great as well but again, obviously - its music originally recorded in the early 70's.

Feeder released 'Renegades' a few weeks ago. Had a listen, it's very poor.

I'd recommend Broken Bells self titled album.
Its James Mercer from the Shins and Dangermouse.
Its really good!!! :D

Forum is mighty quiet alright.
Not a bad year for releases though, by any stretch.
Plastic Beach was a fantastic start to 2010, a wonderful thing, absolutely nailed-on album of the year, until LCD Soundsystem came along with This Is Happening, simply stunning!
Also, excellent efforts from Eels (times two), Four Tet, Hot Chip, and MIA, among others.
Not sure whether I really like the Arcade Fire one or not, though. More spins required.

I loved the "Dark Night of the Soul" album. Sparklehorse, Dangermouse and a load of guest singers, from Frank Black, to Julian Casablancas to Nina from the Cardigans. Very varied and pretty excellent.
I was bought a Wilco ticket a few weeks ago and have started listening to them, and they are excellent. I hate the term "alt-country" but it's probably the most exciting form of music of the last few years. They're being supported by the Felice Brothers next week, might check them out.
Arcade Fire's new one has its moments but is far too long.

Sounds ominous - I thought "journal" was brilliant but they were attempting a more radio friendly approach with this one.
I've not heard anything off the new one bar the first single.
All we need is Kings of Leon to release another MOR sell out and the year is complete.

Heard the new Kings of Leon single on the radio. They appear to be sticking to the stadium sized vibe of the last record.
The first 2 albums were brilliant but they've disappointed ever since.

New Manics album has a few fairly decent tracks but nothing to the standard of Journal for Plague Lovers. Also an early listen to Interpol's new self-titled effort, a band going downhill sadly.

A few disappointments on the new releases front recently!!
A new U2 album rumoured to be being released at the end of the year. They're playing a few new songs on the 360 tour at the moment. Thought the last album was excellent so looking forward to this.

Here's one of them:
(it has yet to receive the full band treatment)
Every breaking Wave

Every Breaking Wave was meant to be on NLOTH. I like North Star and Glastonbury. The Return of The Stingray Guitar is an upbeat intro to the concert. Although I loved the way they opened with Breath in the earlier gigs.

Had a listen to Linkin Park's 'A Thousand Suns', very far removed from Hybrid Theory. But one or two decent tracks amongst a fair bit of the dross.

Just as I feared. They've blown it. I think Aha Shake Heartbreak is a classic and Youth and Young Manhood was never off the stereo in 03.
They were at a crossroads with this album - carry on the over-produced bombast or head in a new, less commercial direction.
Blew it.

They've been irrelevant for years. No more than X Factor fodder now - can't say I'm too bothered if I'm honest.
The new Sufjan Stevens album is, on initial listens, stonkingly great. The approach reminds me of Kevin Shields except with electronics instead of guitar textures - just throw as much down on a track but without losing any melody. Really great, and I think it could grow and grow. Deerhunter's new record is reliably awesome as well.

I've never been a big Sufjan fan. I'll pick up the new album at some point, though.

It's a very good album - massive step up from the mess they released last time. It's no Hybrid Theory, mind.
New Republic of Loose is rather good.

big time. Agree 100%. What i loved about them has disappeared completely. Because of the Times had 3 or 4 great tracks too it must be said and i liked the introspective aspect to the songwriting which contrasted well with the naivety of the previous two.
Its been a big pile of manure since.

I have all the KOS albums up to this one. When they came on the scene, I couldn't get enough of them. However even when i hear the songs I love (kotr, california, etc.) I feel myself getting annoyed at how they've turned out. They'd the world at their feet and then they listened to Bono. Pah!
Different tangent. Groove Armada, latest album, couldn't find it for weeks in HMV, went in to the Whitewater and saw the new album, or what I thought was the new album;turns out to be a remixing of the new album, and it's bloody good. "Look me in the Eye, Sister" "Paper Romance" and "Warsaw" are fine tunes.

Big Boi's album is a cracker. It's really consistent and there's a big mix of different styles. It's not what I expected but very good all the same.
I was really excited about The Suburbs. I deliberately didn't listen to any songs from it 'til I'd picked it up. I really like the first few songs but I haven't got into the rest of the album yet. I'll have to give it a few more plays.
I'm excited about the new Republic of Loose, too. Hopefully, it goes in another interesting direction.

Gave Linkin Park 'A Thousand Suns' another few spins, growing on me and there's some cracking songs on it. Blackout and Waiting for the End are amongst their best. A few too many nothing experimental tracks on it though.
