I hate Henry Facebook sites with 80,000 hits!!
Raiding Henry's Twitter site.....
Mother of God like!!!
Stop it, stop it now!!! :o
I agree. Even the English didnt go that far after Maradona.
But seriously we got humped by the officials, lets deal with it. Just like the thousands of other clubs and national sides that have been on the receiving end of disgraceful decisions. Move on. Replay? You're having a laugh.
Oh dear jesus no. Please say its a wind up.
It just shows the influence the English owned red tops and the talk radio jocks have over most of the sheep in this country.
I will be mortified if this actually happens.

Jesus Wept. That is pathetic.
Yes, it is pathetic.Fair enough Delaney calling for the replay(even though I don't really agree there should be one). He may know he's not going to get it but he's definitely right to kick up a fuss.
Ban Henry for three games, drop the ref and linesma.end of

Tel : 00 353 1 277 5000 Fax : 00 353 1 277 5001
I sent them a fax earlier saying that if they have any honour that they will either replay the match or withdraw from the competition.
Jesus wept !
Not really. When you see it from behind there was no way he could attack it given the trajectory of the ball and the obstacles in front. He was guilty of ball watching and not being aware of the line maybe. But given where he was standing the only way that ball was going to be kept in play after his attempted sheppard was outside the rules, which he can't account for.
A kick out was more desiralble at that stage than a scuffled clearance which was the only other thing on offer.
Saying that, I don't think it would've happended to O'Shea or even Kelly...
Looking at it again I am even more angry with McShane. He lets it bounce in the box FFS. He didnt deal with it. TH should never have even got the chance to cheat.

At best I will say Delaney is making as much fuss to get someting out of them to shut us up - like a UEFA cup final for Dublin maybe.
Cant really believe Delaney genuinely thinks we will get a replay.
Agree that Henry should be banned. If they wanted to ban Edwardo or whatever he's called for diving in the CL vs Celtic then he deserves a 3 match competitive ban at least.

While the media are whipping it up and political bandstanding is disgusting there are a lot of fans who still feel agrieved, I for one. If the circus that surrounds this pushes the use of tv match officials to the front of the debate then its worth it. Blatter is a cancer eating away at the heart of football and the more he is expsoed as corrupt the better.
If you dont want to read genuine disapointment and hurt then log off.
Kingdoms (http://foot.ie/showpost.php?p=1277961&postcount=653)post sums it up well.

If this was happening in say Greece youd be thinking, well done. They are passionate about their team they were shafted and they are making some noise about it.
Of course people dont really think this will work. They are angry, they are fans.

We won't and shouldn't get a replay. I am gutted by wednesday but you cannot replay every football match that was influenced by a refereeing error. Yes it was a massive match and a massive error and it hurts like hell but that is it.
I think JD is playing a different game. It might be compensation, it might be an invite to soemthing like the Confederations Cup or something for the Aviva.
However we have a huge match on sunday that to some people is just as important as wednesday night. If Sligo or Fingal lose to an offside goal or a handball will they get a replay?

I've been at all the games in this campiagn and am a bit embarrassed at the calls.
Yes we were hard done by. We would have gone to the 1982 world cup but for a crook called Raul Nazare who took a bribe from the Belgians. That was a far greater injustice. We lost a playoff over 2 legs we should have won and may well have won but for a refereeing error. It was however an honest mistake.
Had the referee given a penalty for Anelka's dive it might have looked suspicious. Tbh I thought it was a penalty when watching live but obviously know from tv it wasn't. The handball was obvious to most in the ground but unfortunately not to the officials.
Henry cheated so make him pay. Blatter changed the rules to help the big countries and FIFA will have damaged credibility for this.
However most importantly we had 14 heroes on the pitch on Wednesday night. They were superb. I am so proud of them. Let's not take from that. They won't be going to South Africa but eventhough they don't know it it is FIFA's loss.
Nice one!

Platini & Blatter are the real cheats, they moved the goal posts by seeding the teams at such a late stage in the competition.
Keane & Duff had 2 clear chances and failed to score, thats what its all about, thats why were not going to South Africa, game over.
The values of FIFA.........rule 1 of Fair play code:
1. Play fair
Winning is without value if victory has been achieved unfairly or dishonestly. Cheating is easy, but brings no pleasure. Playing fair requires courage and character. It is also more satisfying. Fair play always has its reward, even when the game is lost. Playing fair earns respect, while cheating only brings shame. Remember: it is only a game. And games are pointless unless played fairly.
-------------------------------------
I for one am proud of this countrys reaction. Ya we're most unlikely to get a replay but its worth a try. If there was no response/no efforts made, plenty of people here would be complaining as well.
The more I watch the incident the more angry I get, the more painful it is. It is blatant deliberate handball and this constitutes cheating. There is an excellent photo in the time today of Henry running away celebrating and him looking back at the ref, if ever i saw a guilty face........
What happened is a disgrace and this "let it go", "these things happen" attitude is just not good enough. If we dont get a replay, at least some action needs to be taken to stop this happening. This game was too big for a decision like that to go so badly wrong. I for one am deflated, disgusted, depressed after the other night and can only imagine what the players are feeling. Conform, be quiet and take the injustice lying down......am no thanks.

I love the game of football, but I am seriously considering boycotting the World Cup this year. I have no problem when a team loses due to a legitimate goal.
However, cheating cannot be tolerated, and by saying no to a replay, you are rewarding the French for cheating- what kind of message is this sending to children around the world?
There is still a chance for redemption. Stand up and make the right decision.

It was an unjust decision, and Henry cheated, but it happens in football, you've probably cheered an equally unjust decision for your team in your time, so please just move on and start focussing on things like getting the Don Givens out, pretty please

Thers is no point in protests or online petitions. In the world of sport we know that bad decisions happen and that there is nothing we can do about it. It's time to let it go and accept the fact that we won't be going to the World Cup.
I'd personally like to see Henry get a three-match ban for unsportsmanlike conduct but that should be the end of it.
Having said that, some of the people on here have expressed themselves in pretty sanctimonious terms about this (sorry we embarrass you so much, Jebus). I think they need to look at themselves as well when it comes to the International team.

It's soul destroying. Went to landsdowne in 2004. Keane played a blinder but Henri beat us fair and square. Walking home with my father we consoled ourselves that we were beaten by a moment of brilliance by the best player in the world. I was blaming poor McShane till I saw the replay. Looking at the replay horrified me. He betrayed the greatest game on earth. All I can do now is stop using Gillette, which I'll do! Also, as many of us predicted 2 weeks ago the ref was appaling. One genius said 2 weeks ago that he " makes baby Jesus cry ". Brilliant.

I disagree entirely.
What would you prefer, we lie down and take this injustice??!
The country as a whole feels cheated. On a financial, morale, pride level this would have been huge for the country. We're not like the big nations, we're not blessed with large resources of players, qualification for the WC is a remote possibility for us as opposed to a real probablity. We were denied at least the prospect of a penalty shoot out to qualify for the finals.
The Irish fans behavedly impeccably on wed night, despite taunting from some quarters when leaving the stadium (admittedly that was a minority), but considering the mood it couldve been ugly. In general the campaign calling for the replay has been carried out with dignity and an element of fairness at its heart. The worldwide reaction to the incident justifys our cause.
We wont get a replay, its not right, the WC chance is gone but at least we made our voice heard and the whole world listened. :ball:

99% of what you've pointed out in your first paragraph are totally ridiculous ideas......every sane fan would agree with you......that goes without saying (that's why all but reactionary knee-jerkers like yourself don't bother reacting to these suggestions). I'll let you guess what the 1% is btw. It's a very small minority who actually believe all this crap.
Your repetitive garbage about the "Daily Mail" (you seem to know an awful lot about it....I've never read it) and "freedom fries" just shows you up to be someone with a chip on your shoulder about lots of stuff who's lazily decided to roll it all up together and throw it all at people about this issue.
Nobody can do anything about your embarrassment....that's a problem you'll have to deal with yourself.....personally I've never been embarrassed....something to do with self awareness......you may get it as you mature.
"It was an unjust decision, and Henry cheated"
This is one of the only correct things you've said. This is what people are upset about. Let them be. Of course we'll all move on and get over it.....we have to. Very few will march on the embassy.....don't worry, no need to be embarrassed.
I don't know if WUM is the right word for you. I think you're just someone who is enjoying the opportunity of coming across as the contrary opinion on an internet forum.
One thing you've completely failed to grasp is the significance of this story across the football world and believe me it's not being driven by a few mad posters on foot.ie.
Regarding your cringing and embarrassment problem..........it may help if you face your fears head on...stand up and spout some of your nonsense in the real world, after much ridicule your feeling of embarassment will eventually fade.
Look back at the sum of your posts over the last few days (you will do) and realise there may be something better to devote your energies to than railing at passionate sincere fans who are feeling a lot of raw hurt over an injustice that has been inflicted on them. They (I and all of us) will get over it but most of your recent posts will always be.........what's the word i'm looking for........embarrassing.
BTW, the 1% is...you don't hate to think what other nonsense is in the pipeline......you actually hope there is more nonsense in the pipeline..otherwise you'll run out of reasons to get off on your embarrassment.
