Henry should be given a very long ban for unsporting behaviour.

Also if you follow this link you'll hear Henry admit it was a handball, that he admitted it on the pitch but that he's not the ref, he can't change a thing or decide what should be given or not

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/8367418.st (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/8367418.stm)

Hopefully he gets hung for this

a load of sh**e by henry he not the ref he can't change a thing or deceide what should be given or not .. he deceided to handle ball twice his decision and he still had not even got the honesty to admit it tv interview when asked about handball he said he handled ball but it was not deliberate ... a cheat & a liar hopefully fifa will now punish him but i would not be to surpised to see nothing hapen

FIFA will do nothing, they wanted France, they don't care how. No one else really cares, in 7 months time the WC will be on and no one outside of Ireland will be thinking about Henry's handball

Punished for what? Robbie Keane spent half the game playing with his hands. The only difference is that the ref caught it.

Thierry Henry did not seek to free himself from blame. "Yes, there was a hand" on the action that led to the equalization of William Gallas (104th). But no matter how, seems to say the captain of the Blues, "the most important thing was to qualify."

Interesting that the UEFA website report (http://www.uefa.com/competitions/worldcup/fixturesresults/round=15219/match=2001478/report=rp.html) mentions nothing of the handball at all. Sterile, thank-God-the-seeded-team-won drivelous reporting.

Edit - I see there's already a thread on this. Doh!

Nowhere near as blatent as Henrys one though. Why did the officials see Keanes minor ball to hand ones and miss the most obvious one?

No conspiracy theory
They changed the rules to suit france & Portugal.
They don't even mention the handball on their website or match report, despite it being headline front page news everywhere else.

The evidence suggests they wanted France to qualify & their reactions suggest they don't care how and less of the patronising "grow up a little"

giuly as you say i dont think henry should be punished. he got away with it i dont blame him. the ref and the linesman are the culprits. the linesman had to have seen it but probably didnt want to upset the french and let it go. it was so blatent thats what makes it sickening. i will say 1 thing about the french, your supporters are a joke. seriously. no passion. 15000 irish and there the only ones i could hear at home. look at the bond between players and fans at the end. were all gutted but no one cares outside ireland.

Thierry Henry n'a pas cherché à se disculper. «Oui, il y avait main» sur l'action qui a amené l'égalisation de William Gallas (104e). Mais peu importe la manière, semble dire le capitaine des Bleus, «le plus important était de se qualifier».

I speak French. Here's the top paragraph

Thierry Henry did not look to exonerate himself. 'Yes, I used my hand' in the lead-up to William Gallas' equaliser in 104 min. But the French captain appeared to play down the incident, saying 'the most important thing was to qualify'

"We suffered for two years. We have been having some problems with our press, our fans, with other people," Henry said. "It would have been better to do it in another way, but as I said, I'm not the ref."

says it all really. makes me even more depressed

Muppet post

Its not a muppet post its just fact. Keane is a great player and a great Irishman but he is not WORLD class and that is why we couldnt finish them off because we dont have any world class players.

I'm not sure how the qualification works for the euros 2012 but if it is the same as last time and the top 2 qualify then we can go into that tournament with many players at their peak and full of confidence.

It was a handball, but I'm not the ref. I told [the referee] but he said to me the same: 'You are not the ref.Henry now saying he told the ref it was handball. Anyone believe him? Considering he sprinted off celebrating like he had scored the winner in the World Cup final I have my doubts. If he did tell the ref it was probably at the final whistle when he knew nothing could be done about it.

Typical Keane does something good then turns around and does something stupid. His stupid decision to take it around the keeper when he had the time to shoot or lift it over the keeper was the real reason Ireland are out of the WC Finals. It gave the french renewed confidence and they controlled the game ater that and the Irish team were gutted after it even though they still played out of their skins. Robbie Keane is NOT a top striker as Liverpool found out last year,he may score the odd goal or two but he will miss the most important ones due to his stupid decisions and attempts at glory. When he was most needed tonight he failed. I know he works hard but his inital job is to put them away especially at crucial times of the match. Kudos for his goal but when it mattered most he bottled it.

What a ridiculous post...

Personally I thought all starting 11 did brilliantly. I have criticised the central midfield before, but thought Andrews was brilliant and Whelan was a huge loss when he came off.

I know we were cheated and the goal should not have been allowed, but, for the love of God, how is Mcshane a professional footballer?Even when he only plays part of a match he makes vital errors...

Conspiracy theory.. please grow up a little

The conspiracy theories began when FIFA went back on their word to have an open draw and decided to seed teams so that the top four would play the bottom four of the 2nd placed teams. Now why on earth would they do that?
They didnt want Portugal and France to play each other.

I don't think the ref or linesman was intentionally trying to get Ireland beaten though. If so they would've given Anelka's peno claim. and indeed Evra's in the first game.

Some bloke called Alex from FIFA on Ray D'arcy show (of all things) saying that the seeding of play-offs was decided in 2007? is this true or was there a definite change of rules?

On the same show somebody stated that we should all boycott Gillett products...

It would be interesting if thousands mailed the Gillett and Reebok(Henry wears reebok boots I think?) marketing departments stating we would no longer buy their products while the have a cheat advertising them.

I know under contract law they probably couldn't sack him but it may make them think twice about offering him any new deals...this could snowball, not just the Irish market they'd lose, as I'm sure a lot of fans worldwide are sickened by Henry.

He is a cheat and a liar. He said in his press conferance that it was an accident - proof he is a liar. I also heard that prior to yesterday's game he accused Andrews and Trap of lying ver the Diarra incident? Think we all know who the liar is now...

Brady is only trying to stirr things.... have no time for him tbh on the back of the Andy Reid thing. as for Reebok and Gillette, nice idea but they couldn't give a toss for the market share of 4m people they supply in Ireland! Tiny, Tiny market.

These type of hand balls go on in games all the time, ok in the center circle they don't really matter but some else posted earlier that to say it was instinct and I kinda agree. What I have a problem with is they way he celebrated, shows he was happy to cheat initially. In the cold light of day after the final whistle Henry looked soo guilty and Dunne showed what a man he is by not tellling henry to pis* off when he sat down with him. The Irish team are a team of men...... in every sence.

Indeed, we either play a fair game or what is the point of playing at all, you may as well hand the trophy to the country with the most money.

Basicaly just make it like America Wrestling, that's the sort of stuff the yanks like, fake staged nonsense. Think of the money.

Maybe make Sepp Blatter a big clown in a costume, like Ronald McDonald, to make the game appeal to children?
