He has a persistent problem fair enough he has been substitued in all of his recent games, but he did play in the league cup recently which is a bit strange.
He is more commited to his club but in fairness most guys on the fringes of the ireland squad probably are,I saw an interview with Joe Murphy saying as much recently, so it shouldnt rule him out in future.

You can't impose a commitment. I suppose it's fair enough if some value their club career higher now and later on who knows. But the priority now goes to the type of players who voluntarily turn up in their wheelchairs, crutches or having icepacks strapped to their knees for days.

Aye. He was very quick to bring that up. Though I'm more on Treacy's side now after his criticism due to his grade a toolism.
I think that this really is a storm in a tea cup and it should die off come Friday.

So it seems more than possible that Treacy and McCarthy will not find themselves in the squad for the rest of the time that Trap is manager? I think it is fair to say he does not seem to go back on his thoughts, and that he thinks these two have shirked some responsibility?

It's possible a lot of people will never be called up under Trap but in McCarthy's case it's almost certain he will be called up in November and it's improbable that Treacy will be frozen out for too long.

Given the fallouts between Don Givens and players during his U21 reign I'd be keeping a low profile rather than continuing to criticise. Reel your neck in.

the comments come from an interview he gave with the Hold The Back Page podcast: http://backpagefootball.com/featured/hold-the-backpage-episode-11/
Interview with Givens starts on the 11 minute mark, the comments on Treacy are just after the 23 minute mark
Mentions that he's going to watch Hogan Ephraim as well next week for QPR against Norwich

Yes, but after that, he'll most likely be in the Euro squads.

Did Don Givens start his comments about Treacy with "I am afraid he has got talent"
I only listened the once and I am not going to listen again but tis a worry if these are his first thoughts when deliberating on young players ! ! !

It's not so much what Givens says is an issue, he just has not a clue about diplomacy and can't zip a negative comment. He is an employee of the FAI - to do scouting or whatever, it is not his place to make a comment about a player who is basically in Trap's zone of responsibility. I don't mind Givens or his strict attitudes, but he should not be let near managing youth teams. He does not appear to understand youths, nor does he have a psychological tool in his box on how to handle them.
Some players mature later than others, there is no need to black mark a player for life, because of some indiscretions while young.
You have to hope it's just a faze :)
scored again this week to make it 3-1 to Preston against Palace (garvan scored). It should end up 4-3 to Palace.

I hope its not another manager (with the Ferguson stamp) putting pressure on players to be reticent about playing for their country. This is in regard to his less than enthuisiastic response to being called up to the last Irish squad.

He scored last night against Scunthorpe and seemed to be very influential throughout the game according to the Sporting Life Report. Our new man Barton warmed the benches.

two lovely goals, a long range free kick that everyone missed, and cut in from the left to drill home with his right foot inside the area.
Could have had a hat trick with another free that came back off the upright

Having seen bits and pieces of Treacy he seems to have good ability. It would be interesting to know what Blackburn or other higher (than Preston) clubs feel he lacks ?

Totally agree with this. He's also got a good goalscoring record this season. Yesterdays double leaves him with 9 in 39 for a struggling side. Hopefully he's not in league one next season and someone comes in for him. Still only 22 and only has a year left on his contract I think (should be fairly cheap) so he would be a good signing for a lower prem side surely.

They've been after him for a while (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_7074982,00.html) apparently. Three previous offers rejected. Will have to keep an eye out for them this season with McCann back to fitness there as well.

Good move for Treacy. More to come from him I think. A bit surprised Coyle didn't go after McCann. It may happen yet with Lee breaking his leg yesterday. Think McCann feels he owes Burnley something after all the injuries he had over the last year.

Signed on a 3 year deal with the Clarets for an undisclosed fee
Regarding McCann - he needs to stay injury free before Coyle comes back for him
If he plays then he may be on Boltons Xmas shopping list

All we want for Christmas is … The desire and drive to be a professional footballer for Keith Treacy. The lad is arguably the most talented player on the books, but he's been stealing a wage for the last two and a half years at Burnley. He's out of contract in the summer and owes us a string of glorious matchwinning performances to fire us to promotion. That's asking a lot, though ...

25 now and it's looking like Keith Treacy will be one of those Irish players who doesn't fulfill his potential. Still time, however brief, for that to change though.

5 consecutive starts for Keith Treacy for promotion chasing Burnley and he's playing for a new contract.
Compatriot, Kevin Long, hasn't made consecutive starts since he got a good run in the side at the beginning of the season.

Treacy is to be let go by Burnley: http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/irish/2014/0506/615626-treacy-let-go-by-new-boys-burnley/
Ireland international Keith Treacy has been told he will not be offered a new contract with Premier League newcomers Burnley.
Clarets' boss Sean Dyche is planning to build a squad for their top-flight campaign next term and will need to add numbers to what is already a small group.
However, winger Treacy, 25, will not be part of that squad after making 75 appearances and scoring five times at Turf Moor since joining from Preston North End in the summer of 2011.
Treacy, who has six Ireland caps, made just 13 appearances in Burnley’s promotion campaign this season.
The Dubliner was informed today, along with team-mates David Edgar, Brian Stock and Nick Liversedge, that they were being let go.
"Burnley Football Club would like to place on record our thanks to the quartet for their efforts and contributions to the club, and wish them every success in their further careers," the club said in a statement.

Expected really. It's a shame, he's very talented but has barely played in the past few years. Edgar being released is good news for Kevin Long's chances of being kept on, you'd think.

I think the 2 year gap in his thread says enough.
Seeing as he's a free agent he should be able to get a contract elsewhere in this division or the next.

Still only 25, I thought he was older. Bag of potential, and hopefully whoever signs him can get the best out of him. With a better attitude, he could certainly play in the Premiership.

Just wait for Burnley to waste a squad place on a Florian Marange, Andreas Cornelius or Jose Campana standard of player now. Amazing that an International player with PL experience can't get a new contract at a club like Burnley as a squad player. Pity his name doesn't end in a vowel.

His name does end in a vowel. And it's quite clear that the reason he hasn't got a contract is that he's only been used as a substitute this season and they think they can get a better player in his place.
