Good article from the Guardian, Stephen Carr ends up in a few of the teams of the year:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/may/11/premier-league-season-review-football
Couple of extremely patriotic selections in there. One has seven English players out of 11 - with form like that, England are nailed onto win every game 8-0 in the World Cup.

Alan Sheehan and Darren Randolph both have assists in the Swindon vs Charlton semifinal, Sheehan with a cross and Randolph with a long boot up the field. Alan O'Brien, Jon Douglas, and Dave Mooney are also playing. Michael Timliin came on for O'Brien with about 7 minutes left.
Alan Sheehan has been released by Leeds United (http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20100514/leeds-united-released-and-retained_2247585_2051743).
He's been on loan at Swindon so hopefully he can nail something down with them.

Gavin Gunning played a key role as Rotheram overcame Aldershot today.
He wasn't all that noticable for me aside from the dive in the first half and getting a kiss from the physio. I guess when you're a defender thats a good thing though (just ask Aaron Brown).

Irish Abroad stats for May: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/MonthlyStats?month=5
Not a lot of games played, so not a lot of stats to report.
Odd that no striker got booked in the month of May.
I'll be compiling the stats for the 2009/2010 season tomorrow and will post an update when it's done

Irish Abroad Stats for 2009/2010 season: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/MonthlyStats?month=14
For all the criticism that Robbie Keane took, he still finished as the top scorer, and the top penalty taker, for the season
Apologies for the downtime during the season, I simply couldn't find the time to work on it for long periods.
Be back for the full season in August.

Great work Tets. Two stats that stick out for me are all the bookings Joe Murphy got as a 'keeper and that Duff was still our highest scoring MF player in all leagues.

Irish Abroad season statistics for 2009-2010
Almost exactly ten months after Aiden McGeady, Willo Flood and Darren O'Dea lined out for Celtic against Dynamo Moscow in the qualifying round of the Champions League, the season stats for 2009-2010* have been compiled and are available on Irish Abroad: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/MonthlyStats?month=14
Aiden McGeady started the most wins of any player, the Celtic winger was on the winning side 26 times this season. Interestingly Damien Duff started more home wins than any other player, the Fulham winger started 15 home wins but only 2 successes away from Craven Cottage.
Richard Dunne topped the defender win table, and also topped the draw table for defenders with 15 games ending all square. Ipswich's Jonathan Walters managed more draws than any other Irishman, with games ending level on 18 separate occasions.
Midfielder Darren Potter reflected his side's relegation form this season by starting the most losing games. Surprisingly Potter also started more games than anyone else this season, appearing in the starting XI no less than 49 times, and tied with Sean St Ledger for the most completed games - 46.
Crystal Palace's Alan Lee had the misfortune to be the most substituted Irishman this season, he was withdrawn from the action 26 times, 13 home and away.
Keith Fahey and Lee Trundle were both introduced from the bench 19 times, while unsurprisingly it was the goalkeepers who were the most unused substitutes over the course of the season, with 4 (Wayne Henderson, Conrad Logan, Dean Kiely, James McKeown and Saul Deeney) clocking up more than 40 appearances on the bench.
Despite the criticism he's had for the season, Robbie Keane was still the top scoring Irishman, finding the back of the net 25 times, and also the top penalty scorer finishing from 12 yards 6 times in 2009-2010. Even more impressive was that he never finished on the losing side when scoring, and all but one game ended in a win for the Tallaght striker.
*stats do not take into account games played by teams in League One and League Two, to include them would render the pages unreadable and, with all due respect, the players have little chance of getting into the senior squad.

he has a solid lower league strike record, but it looks like League One is his level: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/PlayerDetails?playerID=17996&seasonID=139
If David Connolly is too good for the Championship, and not good enough for the Premiership, then Heffernan is too good for League One and not good enough for the Championship

Micky Doyle has been given the number 8 jersey at Coventry, they have a few injury problems and a new manager so he's been given another chance.

He was at Walsall for awhile and was a back up to Clayton Ince. He's not too old and is just getting is first chance in the Championship so I guess we will see how he does there.
Also Colin Doyle is between the sticks tonight for Plymouth, I assume on trial, as they seek a goalie to battle Romain Larrieu for the number one shirt.

Darron Gibson and Marc Wilson each scored today in preseason friendlies. Not sure why, but Wilson took Pompey's penalty today against Bournemouth, the only explanation I have is that it was because it was his old team.

Plenty of young Irish lads on show in Wolves pre-season game at Cheltenham. More of a development/fringe playing team with the first team playing at Leeds tomorrow, however encouraging that 2nd year apprentice right back Brian McGroary has been thrown straight in. Dunleavy (centre-back)and Rooney (centre-midfield) are meant to be great prospects with McCarey getting more involvement.
Doesn't look too good for Keogh, not sure if he is going to be involved tomorrow, however appears that he is being put in the shop window with a view to being moved out - although there are currently no takers for his £2.5m valuation. To be fair, a lot of fans, myself included, think that we should keep him but think the 25 man squad rule will limit his chances.
....................Hahnemann
McGroary...Mouyokolo......Hill.......Malone
Winnall.........Davis.......Milijas......Mujangi
.................Vokes.......Keogh
McCarey, Batth, Dunleavy, Rooney, Hemmings
Also, article attached on how Mick thinks that Kevin Foley will become a centre-midfielder because of his ability to retain play and composure on the ball. Noticed that Trap played him there in the games in June so he might grow into the role, however needs to improve his forward through balls as he did have a crab-like tendency to play the ball sideways last year meaning that we lost momentum when counter-attacking.
