Anyone got an idea how many Irish supporters will be at the game?
Is our allocation sold out?

original FAI allocation was 4000 which all went to blockbookers, they were given more tickets last week. by which time most people had got tickets in the swiss end.

now there seems to be spares floating around in the irish end ... guess ill have to stick with my ticket in the swiss end because i wont be able to shift it if i got one for the irish end too

ho hum :D

What's the best deal with off-loading tickets.....locals in Basel don't seem overly enthusiastic
Try the FC Basel forum anyway (http://www.fcbforum.ch/vb/index.php), just post it in "Ticket-Tauschbörse" and not in the main forum.

Another thing I can recommend is www.unibas.ch/markt, where you can post all kind of ads. For your tickets go to "Kaufen Angebot" or "Sport" (or both). You will get a code by E-mail with which you can update, change or delete your ad.

Don't worry, I think even the "indigenious population" has trouble communicating to him at the best of times! :D

Lads I posted up here last week that id a few spare for the irish section (2 at least, maybe 4). I emailed back a couple of heads that they were gone after the first person emailed me. The chap has now let me down and i have deleted your emails. So they're still on offer

so anybody interested (face value of course) email me at wheelodu@yahoo.com or ring me on 0879044679.

Collection will be after the Ireland V Cyprus or in Dublin on Sunday (im flying out monday morning)

Btw im going via london and was going to get cheap drink duty free to drinl over there. Is it worth it or can you get cheap beer in the supermarkets or offy in basel??

Yeah it is no bother to get cheap drink here....

If you are looking for beers etc then go to a supermarket called COOP there are a lot of them around. They sell cheap beer.

If you are also looking for spirits and beer then go to a place called DENNER. They have all spirits and beers for cheap.

Unless you see a good offer in the duty free then dont bother bringing with you (I dont think you will save that much in comparison) To be honest the best duty free will be when you are returning home. The Zürich duty free always has some good offers on. Not sure about the Basel one though.

Just another thing. MIGROS is also another big supermarket here but they sell NO booze or cig's......

Oh yeah and if you are trying to stock up on tins before the match and you cannot find a COOP or DENNER then last resort go to the KISOKS but they will charge about CHF3.00 to CHF4.00 a beer, while in the other places you can get it for less than half that price..

Hope that helps our drinking buddies coming over ;)

The trians run from Basel to Zürich on the hour. No of the lads here have booked anything.. They are sure to put extra carriages on, on the day like last year. So no need to book that..

I am not sure of the closing times of bars in Basel, but I guess they will be open until about 1, but no idea. In Zürich you will find the bars open until about 4, well the ones you want to go to.

Of course you can. Click&Rail is always one way only.

Buy a normal ticket Düsseldorf-Basel and a Click&Rail ticket Zürich-Düsseldorf, which will be via Basel.

When are you flying back?

Will that be enough?

Departure Basel SBB 14.17 / Basel Bad Bf (German railway station) 14.25
Arrival Düsseldorf 19.31

You can already book the Click&Rail ticket now (CHF 45.-).

flight departs 20.25 - I'm on the same one.

19.31 into Dusseldorf is very tight - it's 10 minutes to the airport from the main railway station although the station there is just outside arrivals and one floor down on the lift from departures.

Aer Lingus depart from Terminal B with checkin normally around Desk 140 - which is to your right as you enter if you've just come up on the lift from the train station.

German trains are great but that is still very risky.

Here's my final report on the Faroes tickets sale for those who sent me tickets:

There was only limited interest in the match (attendance was merely 13,000). I managed to sell part of the tickets anyway and raised CHF 150.-, which will be transferred to Médecins sans frontières on Monday.

I don't know if there is a consensus about the best bars in Basel are for tomorrow night? The italian bar sounds interesting ..

I was there last time too .. started in Paddy Reillys but it was too expensive .. and one of the guys behind the bar tried short changing me, which was cue to leave. Met some swiss and ended up going on a crawl ... but naturally can't remember the names of the places they brought us too. But plenty of irish singsongs in every bar we went to.

Thanks to Volltreffer for this link a while back .. which might be of use to some others. .. see the sights of the city before the match and have a few drinks on the way

Take tram No. 8, 10 or 11 from the railway station ("Bahnhof SBB") to "Aeschenplatz" or walk there (it's one stop only), or No. 1 or 2 to "Bankverein" (two stops). Then take tram No. 14 in direction of St. Jakob-Muttenz-Pratteln. There may also be special trams (E), anything reading "St. Jakob" will do. Under normal conditions it's about 10 minutes from Aeschenplatz to St. Jakob.

A ticket is CHF 2.80 (button No. 1 in the left row of the ticket machine).
