Was at the Town match. Blossom is still manager. Good win for Town. they played well, looked stronger and more organised against a fine Cashel team.

Very important win for town. Who scored the goal ?

i hear one of villas younger players ended up in hospital after being repeatedly kicked on the ground by a rock rovers 'hard man' on sunday. hown long more are these tramps going to be tolerated? refs are afraid of them and they think they can do what they want

broken ribs apparently, if that was done on the street he would be arrested, long term ban for that player is what's needed but I doubt that will happen or else if all teams get together and boycott playing Rock Rovers if more of these incidents occur

A broken rib? That's an absolute disgrace. What the hell did the ref do? My god if it was any other team there would be uproar, Rovers are a disgrace to the league. Also, I wathed clonmel v cashel, great game and great result for us but cashel were unlucky not to get a draw I must say. Not sure about the injury to their player David Slattery , but if it's ligaments or anything like that he's looking at 4-5 months anyway. Looking forward to town v saints this weekend!!!

Why is John Maguire down to ref the Clonmel Town - St Michaels game on Saturday when he has relatives on the St Michael's management team and has close connections with the club. Surely the league should try to put refs and linesmen in charge that are as neutral as possible to avoid any controversy. I know the other two officials are from Clonmel but at Premier League level in particular ties between the top clubs, the allocation of refs should be done with more thought

I think either way its going to be tough for Town. Refs aren't to kind to Town despite what others on this site think. they don't want Town to win the league again, which they won't now anyway.
John Maguire shouldn't be doing the game but he is. I would far rather him than that other "alleged" ref that did the derby last week.
John Maguire will just have to show that he can handle such a big game. However lets hope that we will be talking about a great game and hopefully a Town win, rather than the ref.

its more than a disgrace what happened last sunday, for a junior player to spend 3 days in hospital after being assaulted while he lay on the ground, its beyond reproach, its time for all the clubs to come together and refuse to play rock rovers, they add nothing to the tsdl or should we all say nothing and wait til something far more serious happens, its no longer about football with them, enough is enough

Does anyone know who the injured player was?

Surley there is a case for the League to report such actions to the Guards?

Player should get a lifetime ban IMO.

Did the Peake player pass a comment without knowing to the Rock player about his mother who had infact passed away within the last year?

It's hard to say how you would have react if you were in that situation but I am not condoning an assault as bad as that.

No that was just the pathetic excuse conjured up by rock rovers as even they realised the serious nature of the incident, the player in question was steven coppinger,he spent 3 days in hospital after the attack, the referee who was michael freiburg gave the player a straight red but then awarded every free and offside decision to rock as an apology, its a farcical situations, referees are afraid of their lives and players risk serious injury, like i have said enough is enough

Town and saints was called off due to a bereavement . Rock drew with cashel 1 . I had hoped we would push on after our great result against peake but unfortunately the premier is turning out to be a tough task. The standard between the the first division ant premier is huge.

Went to watch celtic and villa on sat night, Celtic have a very good young side I can see them doing well over the next few years. Again for the 2nd time this season villa looked ordinary and were lucky to hang on for a point in the end They are lacking a good center forward Barry Ryan is a big loss to them they arent finding goals as easy to come by this season. Ted O connor was playing center half something I cant get my head around he is a top top striker. He didnt start against us but came on at half time and done well prob should have scored. Can any Villa fans shed some light on why he is not playing up top??

personally i thought it was agood game between 2 quality sides. both played some good football and an away draw against celtic is no bad result so i cant see how you would say villa were ordinary. i agree that they miss ryan, any team will miss a player who scored 20 + last season. o connor has been carrying injuries for a while now and looks to have lost a yard or two in pace, in my opinion he could do a job centre of the park for peake but the back line is pretty small so i guess they think hes needed back there. they will have mike ryan back soon so im sure he will add goals.

Is it too early to say the league is over already??? I just cant see anyone catching Saints. Ive seen pretty much all the contenders play at this stage,,saints, town, peake and celtic, and i think saints have the beating of them all. Their biggest advantage is their defense,,they wont concede many goals this year. I hope it gets a little tighter as it goes along but i dare say the league is virtually over!!

Yes it was a good game ron I never said it wasnt. My reason for Villa being ordinary is that they are creating very little going forward in the 2 games i saw them. I would still personally regard O Connor as a fine center forward its only 2 years ago he was scoring regurally in the LOI first division surely he couldnt of lost all that over night. What is the story with mick ryan how come he is not playing?

o connor looked the part when he played centre half in the play off game last season and in the complex, barry ryan is a huge loss to them as he will score goals from nothing and turn 1 point into 3,is he playing in limerick now as in signed? michael ryan will be a big help when hes fit, villa have added a few and it can take time but they need to beat town sunday in thurles or i think their league ambitions are over

great position for saints to be in so early,if villa and town draw sunday its a big cushion for saints, barry ryan was tsdl player of the year last year so he was alway going to be a loss to an already small panel, michael ryan being injured and o connor playing at the back just compounds the problems, town seem rejuvenated so next sunday should tell a lot

I agree with you about O'Connor - still one of the top strikers around. In fairness he missed a lot of last season and did not settle in any position for long as moved a lot between centre back and striker. That said, you can't blame the Villa management for playing him at the back when cover is needed as he has done well there.Would be interesting to see him play with Barry or Mick Ryan up front as don't think that has happened much in recent seasons.

Great result for them today. Ok Town may have lost players from last season, but Town are Town and have held the indian sign over Peake for a few years now.

Freddie - think you are being premature suggesting the title is going to Tipp Town when Michaels havn't played Town or Villa yet

good win for villa but a defeat wednesday night and the title is on its way to cooke park,an 8 point deficit is far too much to drag back over 8 or 9 games, town are struggling big time they need to find divine inspiration and quick, surely they are trying to sign some of the celtic players and lads locally

Tipp Top

Lads has anyone else realised that after this weekend some of the teams will have completed half their league fixtures. This is madness as we are still in september. I know some teams could get a run in some of the cups but unfortunately not all. For others the season could be nearly over very early in the New Year????

If Villa could get a win agains saints wednesday it would make the race to win the title very interesting. Celtic could have a huge say in where the title goes this year. Im sure they are not rulling themselves out of winning it yet.

Freddie - think you are being premature suggesting the title is going to Tipp Town when Michaels havn't played Town or Villa yet

I dont think i am to be honest Perry. My point was that ive seen all the main contenders play and Saints look like the team to beat. In my opinion it doesnt even matter what the results are in the matches when Saints play Peake and Town because even if Saints drop points in those games they wont drop points against other teams. And as has been quite evident already, Town and Peake are dropping points very early on against teams that Saints are beating. I dont like to say so, but theres no denying Saints have the best team in the league and when they win it they'll deserve it. It's very much their own to win or lose at this stage. Peake or Town are nowhere near the team that Saints are this season, and that's the truth...even though sometimes the truth hurts...doesn't it??

Celtic are in the exact same position as villa after same games and have played Michaels. Of course they wouldn't rule themselves out. Showed they are serious by whipping Cagney and Craig off at ht sunday too(reputation means nothing), great comeback in 2nd half then too. If they had either of 2 first choices keepers against Villa and Paul Shanahan was outfield i'm almost sure they would of beaten Villa.

They can try

Exactly, why anyone would consider leaving that up and coming young Celtic team to go to town now is beyond me. If they keep that squad together they'l be up there for the next good few years
