Yep that s the average when you take into account membership and season ticket holders who don`t turn up . Just like the way you count your attendances:D

Actually, AFAIK, that's not the way we do it. Members are counted on the way in, so it's not like every member/ ST holder is automatically included in the attendance. That said, the 2,500 average includes some very big gates (2 Rovers and the first Dundalk game) as well as a few quite small ones. Crowds have, i think, been a bit better than last year, though nowhere near what they were during the early part of the decade.

Sarcasm detector needed , clearly. Without wishing to labour the point, Rovers count season ticket holders who dont attend matches as part of the "attendance".

he is right rovers dont count season ticket holders but they do sell more tickets than seats dangerous maybe.......
but a nice problem to have, funny watching them fight each other over it.

My mistake. Attendance figures for Tallaght had to be scaled down on this site due to the phantom seat phenomenon in the old stand . Actual crowds are now being counted since the new stand opened.
As for the alleged 2,500 averages in Dalymount, I would think that the missing matches from that average will bring the numbers down. Remaining three home gates for the rest of the season are for, Drogs, Pats (if they travel in any numbers) and Sligo (when we win the league). I would be surprised if the average is less than 2,300 for those remaining matches.

Also on the alleged Bohs attendance, this is the first year we haven't had official figures for Bohs. The way guesstimates go, you can easily knock 10% off that, plus as noted, there's three or four games missing.

Once again wrong. We already had this discussion on the attendances thread http://foot.ie/forums/showthread.php?p=1217606#post1217606

Do any Bohs fans share the confidence expressed by Gerry Conway about both complaince with the 65% rule and full-time football next season?
Bohemians General Secretary Gerry Conway also confirmed the 2008 double-winners are to remain full-time and dismissed suggestions of any immediate fears over either the Salary Cost Protocol or the club's debts.
"We have explained to the FAI our plans to be under the 65pc by November 30, which is when it counts, and I believe they are fully satisfied with our plans.
"We do have longer-term financial issues, but we have plans in place to repay them, which we will explain to the members at our next information meeting.
"We're satisfied as a board that we have budgeted prudently so as to sustain full-time football and give Pat a budget, which, while he may not be 100pc happy with it, is one that can help him challenge for honours next season."

I think getting under the 65% is possible. Full time football? Not sure. I know we have six on full time contracts for next year and they still will be but I'd be surprised if anyone else was.
I don't want to say too much on here but there is a major development on the way with regards to Bohemians Football Club that is going to rock the LOI to its core. Everything will be changed, changed utterly.
They're going to set a sustainable budget?

I should have made my posting above a bit more clearer. It's going to be great news for Bohs. Its interesting that people would automatically assume that it would be bad news on the horizon but I guess thats the default setting of the average LOI fan these days.
No, there are forces at work here that you can only dream of and if, and I repeat if, it comes off then Bohs future will be secure for manys the season. I don't think it would be an understatement to say that a Rosenborg type situation could emerge in Ireland.

I can exclusively reveal that a network of underground fight clubs lead by an enigmatic character called Tyler Durden is working on a project to erase the club's debt.

the first rule of Bohemians Football Club is you do not speak about Bohemians Football Club.

Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.

................... Travelling has, however, caused a problem for Fenlon, who was forced to ask for a 'dig-out' from local businessmen to fund an overnight stay for his players on Foyleside.

Slightly off topic, but I find it funny that Fenlon so regularly dismisses other managers when responding to their comments......
"I have no problems travelling anywhere with my team; it was nothing to do with travelling, but I'm not really interested in what Stephen has to say, to be honest."
Yet he takes the hump when he perceives the merest slight to him.

always amazes me that contributors on here have such a problem with clubs/fans seeking money. I mean its not like its a novelty for any club is it ?

Good point.
However, what amazes me is the complete and utter blatant disregard by clubs for their pre-season budgets. Its not that hard, you get predicted incomings and then base your outgoings on this. What is the problem with certain LOI clubs with this basic principle. Can they not see what a laughing stock they become when the manager comes out with statements like "If we don't beat Skonta Riga we can't afford wages for the rest of the season" or "Oi Businessmen, we need a dig-out to stay in a Derry Hotel for this weekends match". Thats before I even mention Cork City in the high court or Rovers scribbling out 2003 on their accounts and writing in 2004!
Then you my friend, must be new to the wonderfull world of LOI - Accounts by Hans Christian Anderson, business plan by Fr Dougal (assisted by John De Lorean) and League run by the Marx Brothers.
All except MY club of course, the best run blah blah blah .........:)
