1-1 Rovers and Drogs
Drogs equalise.
Jamie Duffy.
Our gates are down almost 50% and I would be very surprised if there is any teams other than Dundalk and Rovers showing an increase in gates. The league is facing even harder times unless some major restructuring and increased marketing is done quickly/
As it stands there could be 3 galway teams in the league next season when the city cant even support one team absolute madness.

Apparently now you can get roughly manhandled and ejected from Turners Cross for accidentally getting a tiny little bit of water from a bottle bought in the shop inside the ground on a steward - done whilst celebrating a Bohs goal by jumping up and down with said bottle in hand...
Someone else got kicked out for retrieving the ball from the far side of the orange netting. He got back in though.

Go on the Youths!
Was over at the Rovers - Drogs game. Awful first half, about 1 chance each then Rovers score right on half time, another poachers finish from Twigg. Second half started much brighter, a bit of niggle came into the game and Rovers got well on top, blatant handball for the penalty, then a dreadful kick from Sean O'Connor, I was behind the goal and I could have nipped out from where I was and saved it, it was that bad. Rovers totally dominated the half and had some great chances, Twigg missed from about 2 yards when he failed to connect with a free header and it came off his shoulder. Drogs goal was an awful mix up between Price and Murphy in goal, Price wanted Murphy to come out and tried to sheperd it back, Murphy was slow to come and allowed Duffy to nip between them. Unless Murphy was screaming for it Price has to take the blame, he really should have dealt with it.

1-1 Rovers and Drogs
Great result for Drogheda.
Maybe the automatic relegation spot is not a foregone conclusion.
Last four games for Drogs - win away in Bray, home draw with Dundalk, late winner for Bohs in Dalyer, draw against Hoops. 5 points.
Last four games for Dundalk, scrappy win at home to Galway, draw with Drogs, home defeats against poor Pats and Sligo teams. 4 points.
Suddenly the six points gap (and the 4 between Drogheda and Bray) doesn't look so large anymore.
Next weeks fixtures will tell a lot
Dundalk ........Drogheda........Bray
Shamrocks (A)..Cork (H) .........Sligo (H)
Bray (H) .........Galway (A) ......Dundalk (A)

Who was the ref?
We had that tool Keith Callanan, shocking performance, how in the name of god he is allowed ref at any level is beyond reason, and with the annoyance that is buttimer as 4th official aswel.

That was a joke alright. Should have been a straight red without doubt.
Who was the ref?
Paul Tuite I think, could be wrong though.

Yeah, it was Paul Tuite alright. Could easily have been a red card but there was no real niggle in the game. Two fairly poor teams on show.

It was definitely hand ball but it was NOT in the box. End of story.
Here, watch the highlights from Galway. Specifically the replays of the penalty incident at 2:32. Definitely inside the box.

That's pretty much spot on. O'Neill shoud give his players the hairdryer treatment for letting that one slip. They were much the better team. You have to credit Drogheda though. They're lacking in ability, but they have a huge amount of fight in them. Good away support, too.

We were due one against Waterford. Cracking win and a great performance by team. Very impressed with young Vickers I have to say who played on the right wing last night caused the left side of Waterford a lot of problems.
After the way we lost to Shelbourne, shows we are made of more sterner stuff mentality this season. Sporting Franchise next, come on the Youths.

Good results from our point of view this weekend with Bohs beating Cork and Rovers drawing. Hope we can catch up further next Tuesday against Pats.

Havn't read the rest of the thread but on our game:
Fairly even in the first half, seemed nervy and we shaded possession. Second half was a completely different story, Bohs came out fired up and overran us in midfield for large portions. We badly missed Gamble.
The difference really though was the quality upfront. Bohs have Byrne who will finish most chances whereas we have no one with that bit of quality as a finisher.
Bohs deserved the win but once again we get a big crowd in and completely let ourselves down, most wont be back.
Did anyone see what happened at the end when the ball ended up in the net? Was it offside or a foul on the keeper?

Im 99% sure it was for offside. For alot of pressure Cork had near the end they didnt really create anything decent which is good from our point of view because I felt we sat back to early and what happened in Tallght was going to happen again but thankfully we held on
Great atmosphere, great game and great weather, what summer football should be all about

Apart from the great game part I'd agree with you. Can't see many of the newbies being back after our performance.
Good crowd of Bohs down though, great to see

2.30 according to The Mun's website.
Yes Derry were the better team tonight but at 1-0 and we had a chance and then he goes and gives a DISGRACFULL penatly decison and costs us the game:mad:.HES A BRUTAL REF.For the record Derry goal was dissallowed because Clive Delaney was trying to exchange shirts with Seamus Conneely when the cross was coming in.
The peno was at first BALL TO HAND and secondly IT WAS OUTSIDE THE FU**ING BOX:mad:.Only one Derry player appealed for the peno and even that was half hearted.Kenny was laughing when it was given.I know because i was in the stand behind their dugout.
Derry are a good side and would have probably won anyway but KELLY was Derry's MOTM.For every Studs up tackle by the Derry centre midfielder he would turn a blind eye.For every piece of time wasting, the same. For every push by Clive Delaney, again the same blindness.
RANT OVER!!!
Well done to Derry - They deserved their win.
Garry Breen's red card in the League Cup coupled with Sean Kelly's injury are really costing us now imo.
I don't know how many players from Derry had the game stopped requiring attention - but it was a veritable epidemic - the decision to give Liam Kearney 30 seconds of action in the second half was curious to say the least. Best wishes to the injured Derry lad (Molloy? Martyn?) who was taken away by ambulance having only come on as a sub.
For the second game in a row the awarding rather than the concession of a penalty has turned the game decisively against us.
But that's football.
Have a look at the links below, and you'll see the player was well inside the box, hence a definite penalty.

Have to say - looking at the video - it was deliberate (why are his arms up in the air like that if not to block a ball coming in) - and he was stood and jumping up inside the area - not by much, but he was.
Little to moan about on that one I'm afraid - definite penalty

A bit of flowery language in there when the penalty was awareded. I'm not personally offended by that, but another might be. Therefore, I am offended by proxy.
I shall not be attending any more LOI games until the FAI take some affirmative action on this potentially distressing matter.

Derry penalty was clearly inside the box anyway. I trust eamo1 et al will turn around and apologise, seeing as fans always expect referees to get things 100% right, but never hold their hands up when they falsely accuse the ref of getting things wrong.

In fairness, it's half the fun of being a fan- if we were all held accountable for our bias opinions the forum would be a constant stream of apologies!
