Smart casual? what the hell is that like? a silly american expression used in call centres.

I would have thought that people might try and make an effort and look their best. after all, it is still xmas!

As for jeans etc? Come on like?

Gary well you can let your jeans at home and put on some pants then.

you're right there conor with the casual...i have a suit but it only gets an airing for weddings and funerals..shoes, jeans and shirt is smart enough for this kinda thing.......i say that everyone brings a city shirt with them and change into them at 12:00....pure cindrella like.....:)

still working on a ticket tho........got someone to call into the Evening Echo Office and the receptionist didnt have a clue about any tickets for the Ball....Also mailed the club but still haven't had a reply....Have someone else trying to get me a ticket now...here's hoping.....

Would ye not make an effort and wear a suit for the Rebel Army?!:)

Or a suit with a City jersey underneath??!!

Not having a suit will really lower the tone of the whole evening.

How about all the "Smart Casual" people get their own table, and we can jeer at them and throw food at them. Should be good for a laugh in between courses :D

Wearing suits is always good, cause at the end of the night you can wrap your tie around your head and have a good ol' game of Rambo

Um, if I remember last year at the same venue, I was about the only fellow wearing a shirt while many were in City shirts, sweatshirts, runners, etc.

Yes but it is a totally different situation this year.
Last year it was merely the End of season bash, this year it's the Rebel Army New Years ball.
Last everyone just sat around getting drunk, this year everyone is going to eat dinner and get drunk!!
There were no specifications as to what to wear last year, this year it is being advertised as "smart dress".
Also worth bearing in mind that last years event was on the night of the U21 cup final and a lot of people came straight from the game. Hence the presence of a few City shirts etc.
If people get nicely dressed up it will add to tomorrow nights occasion imo.
