I don't think anyone claimed that (and apologies if my posts implied similar)
My atke on Bray Headīs post was that he was only thought the programme was good because it had colour photos; the implication being that content is irrelevant. My gripe is, as schumi said, colour programmes that have nothing in them. So it seems we were arguing different points while broadly agreeing with each other.
As I said, by all means put in a picture of a player, but donīt just put in a full page picture to no effect; add in a bit of an article around the same picture. Then 13-year-old gets to see picture of player in Ireland jersey, and others get to read about him playing against the national team.

Won't be buying a programme in Fingal again. €3 for 20 pages. 2 of which was the team sheets, 1 of which was a message from Liam Buckley, 1 with the ground regulations, 1 with show racism the red card promo, 1 the front page and the rest was just adds. I think it's the worst programme I've seen.
From what I've seen this season in the Premier....
Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers are head and shoulders (and several other body parts) above the rest.
Pats is pretty decent, but doesn't look as good this season as it has in recent seasons. Bohs is decent content wise but looks a mess as it has for years.
Big improvements from Galway, Sligo and Bray this season, but still pretty average.
Drogs is small and simple, but at least they only charge €2.
UCD and Fingal are just going through the motions, pish poor both of them.
Think yiou're bing slighly harsh on Sligo there seand. The league programme for our game a couple of weeks ago was excellent. I'd have them 2nd behind Dundalk at the moment. Rovers in 3rd

From what I hear this special Europa edition is going to set a new benchmark of standards for programmes. The standard has been consistently excellent for some time, but this one may well turn out to be a real collectors item.

I think over the years Rovers have consistently been right up there with their programme. Dundalks is very good now i have to say. Sligos is a strange one. The last couple i've got down there have had digs at Rovers in them, which i thought was odd for an official club publication.

I assume Dundalks jersey that they wore in the away leg is a limited edition for the Europa League is that right?

That used to be quite standard, Dundalk did it for years. Cheap way to cut down on the expense of changing the cover (which is standard anyhow). But in this day and age it's poor.
From this season I'd give Rovers top spot, Dundalk 2nd, UCD I thought was okay if a little dated, some good content in it. Shels used to have a great programme back in the day, while Bray and Bohs this year I was disappointed with.

Not to challenge your opinion, but I'm curious as to what you mean by dated.

A good matchday programme is a big part of my match-day experience and recognition is due to all those who prepare programmes in the LOI.

Unfortunately, having seen sales figures for most clubs, people like you and me are in a small minority.
Dundalk's programme is superb and deserves all credit

Part of the League of Ireland book I'm writing covers my visits to each ground and a section on the programmes. Quite like the Monaghan United one, Salthill's is extremely small and needs contributors, and I've just come back from Limerick's game tonight and glanced through theirs - lot of adverts but Gary Spain writes good articles for it.
Some clubs seem to have a style over substance approach - Im not interested in how glossy it looks, just whats inside and is it informative. Will get to see Rovers one on Sunday as on my travels there.
Oh yes- and Dundalks is indeed excellent

Ya in fairness the match program is usually very good. Certainly one of if not the most professional looking one I've come across in the league. Programmes are never doubled up either, always a new one for every game.

Is it not the lad that used to do the Dundalk programme that now does the Limerick one?

He is involved in the website and social media side of things alright. Not 100% on the program. Even in the first division though we had a very good program printed on high quality glossy paper.

Keith is heavily involved in Limerick's programme too. They even printed programmes for the U19 matches.
