Not losing any points but they wont be getting any from Erris, that fixture has been given as a walkover...pressure will be on for Ballyheane now who will be mucking it out for survival!

But they cant be relegated so I doubt they care to much. The Mayo league just dont seem to get tired of kicking the heane in the balls. Also a honourable mention must be given to their treatment of Moyvilla since they won their appeal a couple of seasons ago, its been fine after fine ever since.

Whats the point in playing at all if thats the attitude?

There are some nice footballers playing for Ballyheane but you have to question whether they give a fcuk about the team or not. When we played them earlier in the year, once we went up they just dropped the heads. Not enough locals on the team I think maybe the problem there?

Yeah they definitley dont have the same spirit as the Ballyheane teams of old. Pity really because they really knew how to shake things up back in their prime.

Looks like at the moment that only 1 team (Swinford) will be promoted. So only one team will be relegated and Im afraid that looks likly to be yourselves.

Great performance today from Kilmore!
Shows we can compete with anyone when there isnt 12 men against us!
Should have won by 3 or 4 but we will take the 1-0 win:)

We need a win and thats hopefully what we will get!
Any more news on the Ballyheane/Erris story or whats gonna happen?

Ye need to win 3 of 5 to stay up at least, Ballyheane and S & F are must wins for ye and then anyone of Erris, Westport and Manulla. So if ye do stay up it will be a great achievement. All the best...

Think we could do ye a favour with S & F and Ballyheane, we need to win one more to be certain.

Ha, ha, thats because the topic of conversation isn't Celtic vs Westport or Super League Vs A League. And before anyone jumps onto that and starts it all over again can we not just agree that they're all equally great

Yeah only that game GF, due to Chadwick cup semi finals. We would be playing our missed match against Snugboro only for they're already playing Ballina. We are looking for a friendly, and what with that and the race night on Friday you're as well make an appearance! ;)

Snugboro 2 Ballina 4.
Good game with great goals scored. Ballina lad scored a cracker from about 35 yards out. best goal ive seen in a long time. all goals were of good quality. Ballina played some good football in the first half, 3 1 up at half time. Snugboro played alot better in the 2nd half but Ballina well deserving of the win. Hope they go on and win it. Be a tight finish though.

I wonder what critera you have to satisfy to start up a junior league and have it accepted by the FAI.

I'd say any of the boys involved in the Mayo League would explain whats required.

Thinking of setting up a rival league??! We could have the Mayo Junior Soccer equivilant of the Sky Sports & BBC Darts World Championships!!!

Just wondering if there would be a genuine interest in a alternative. Maybe a winter league that would be defined by its football rather than its facilities.

Interesting idea.

How would a new winter league define itself by its football any differently then the current M.L. format?

Apparently the league have just issued a circular to the clubs with 101 demands for the coming season, I just think it could be the "straw..... for a few clubs. I just think we need to get back to basics with a league that promotes the game itself both in playing and promotional side of things. I think clubs have to have a press box for next year, this is a good example of a league thathas lost the plot.

You never know could be a runner I suppose, but you would need at least 10-12 clubs to want to break away. The facilities are there for most clubs and Im sure a few refs could easily be persauded.

personally i can't see how a winter league would be defined by its football with the weather that we get during the winter.the pitches would be in an awful state surely

Ok how about a summer league that is more about football than facilities. Its totally irrelevant whether its a summer or winter league. I just would like to see a league where football was the main concern and not a new scoreboard.

A Press Box?? Christ, thats a laugh!
Super League coverage in the papers is adequate at best, the rest of the leagues are as good as non existant.
There is no grounds whatsoever for the Mayo League to even encourage clubs to provide press boxes, let alone make them mandatory.

Having said that, I'm all in favour of setting out minimum standards for Facilities, Pitches & the like. Nobody wants a glorified pub league, and without a strong dedicated comittee, willing to make tough decisions, thats what a winter league might end up being.

Agreed the standard of pitches and changing facilities are second to none in Mayo and the league must be credited for all their work in this side of the game. But having scoreboards, press boxes, stewards at games etc is just plain idiotic to say the least. Also some of the disciplinary issues in recent seasons have been handled very poorly. I am also really against the idea of reducing all divisions to 8 clubs, why?. Maybe we should stop playing football altogether and let the league show off their lovely pitchs to the FAI.

surely it would be fine, think of all the great all weather pitch's in mayo now, a suppose to when mayo leageue was winter soccer before.all super lge teams pitchs are top class(bar moneen, but astro is good in winter).
plus by the last few years,we get more rain in the summer than the winter.

Will somebody show me these " top Class Pitches"?? Most clubs make little effort to have a good surface TBH. You want to play winter footie on pitches that this year have had games called off during the summer!! If you are to add in the youth structure you will then have everybody playing in the winter and really making a state of the pitches or alternativley all year round not giving the pitch a break!!! Winter football is not an option. Snugboro and celtic both have so called " all weather pitches" but take a look at them both at the end of the season say mid november!! They will be very bare and bumpy and youre only heading in to the winter season then!
And where will clubs train on winter nites. Not all have access to foodlights and players away at college ect ect

You have got to be joking. The league would want to look at the state of some of the curent facilities in the leagues before indulging in this clap trap. I can name several clubs who dont operate to current standards yet get away with it because they are lower league. Give me a break! Have they FAI diesease ???
