"Money stemming from the sale of Seamus Coleman to Everton has allowed Cook to "hopefully add one or two players" to his squad. The money was originally budgeted for tax purposes but a restructuring of finance and the club's budget has altered circumstances at The Showgrounds."
Alright .......now I am putting this on par with the Rob McDonald fiasco :o:o:o

Jesus, Anglo Irish isn't a patch on these guys. If they're not careful, this could be our last season in senior football.

Here's The soothsayer prediction from this time last year :)

I don't understand it but if the FAI are saying its ok then it must be ok, as as far as i can see thet do not want any bad publicity at all.
There's no point guessing i am sure it will all come out in the next few days !

By the sounds of things a bit of creative accounting was used to revise the budget , anyways the taxman is too busy bailing out the banks to be worried about LOI clubs for a few years.
Great news that Cook is back on board glad we are not considering the ex-player with a great record in Europe.

Honest, loyal and gets the most of his players. What more do you want from a manager. Delighted he's back.

We could go on and on with conspiracy theories. Look the bottom line is that he is back, which is what everyone wanted. Was there many at the press conference? Any word on the 2 players that are suipposed to be coming in?

So what has happened to the tax bill Seamie's money was going to pay?
According to Mary McGowan, any money going towards new players had to be "NEW" money and could not be money that was already accounted for in the existing budget!!! I give up
If Seamie's money is going towards 2 players, what is happening the money raised by the various fundraisers?
If the money was there all along, could this restructuring not have been done without all this messing with Cooke?
Is this us sorted for the year or are we due another call to arms in the next few months?
As i stated earlier i am happy with cookie staying but i just hope that this re adjustment of the accounts doesnt put the club into long term difficulty - no amount of short term success is worth putting the club in danger so i hope its all above board.
As for the seamie money - when all the stakeholders have had their piece of the pie there would have been damn all left!
I definitely would like clarification from the board on how the financial accommodation will be made but when it comes to transparency this club is operated like the KGB!!!! Meaning i doubt we will ever get it!

No more like oe of these people who will take joy out of seeing Rovers fall! What I havent seen is these people been able to give an alternative to Paul Cook if we had to replace him and would that person be able to work of what would have been thesame budget!

i have lost respect for this guy - a good manager , but a w**ker at the same time, how many clubs would allow anyone to dictate like that, lot's of respect for those who have raised the money once again the fans and people of the town have bailed the club out again, i really hope rovers do well this season, but one thing for sure cooke's actions have been childish - you look what's happened around the country in terms of pay cuts players owed outstanding monies etc- his actions are not as bad as our fat little friend at Dundalk , but at the same time i think he owes the supporters a full explanation of why he decided to leave and then return afterall is was you people that raised the cash!, then let him concentrate on the rest of the season,

Sorry perhaps I was being over ambitious. I knew about Morrison and Parkhouse. I thought that there were 2 more players on the horizon. Might have picked it up wrong.

Go to Transfer Rumours/Suggestion page, on the last page theres alot on a Portuguese striker supposed to have joined us.
but at the same time i think he owes the supporters a full explanation of why he decided to leave and then return afterall is was you people that raised the cash!, then let him concentrate on the rest of the season,
You know I thought that he explained his reason for leaving very clearly with the interveiw with Gerry Farry on Ocean fm on the day he left. I think it was the supporters trust that got the ball rolling by trying to raise the money was not Cooks idea and even if it was it got what we needed a good manager and two players added to the squad whicxh has allowed us have 1st team 16 1st team player which is on a par with what Derry have!
I'd agree with most of that. I think we'll need to up our attendances in a big way though to make this work. I believe Derry get much bigger crowds than us.
Down to each of us to get to as many as possible and try to bring along one or two with us I suppose.
I wonder have the club any plans to make a push to get bigger crowds in?

I think the club should go to all schools in the county each week and give out free passes to the kids u12 who must be accompanied by an adult to get benefit of the pass to get in.Even if it was to bring in an extra 10/20 adults per game its all revenue and people getting interested.Theclub should make at least €10/15 euro extra per head this way when you take the cost of the kid getting in.

The novelty factor would quickly wear off if that was the case. I agree that it should be done a bit more frequently, though.
