I see this ex Barnsley, Football Kingz (New Zealand), Frickley Athletic and most importantly, New Zealand U20 international (several times) is training with us. Currently lining out with Flannerys FC, with a few appearances for Icon United thrown in, could 'Daz' be on his way back to Limerick FC??

A true legend of the game, can we afford him? I hear he's willing to accept his wages in Beer Vouchers, so if the club can secure a sponsorship deal with Patsy Flannery, we could have the answers to all our prayers...:ball:

**Disclaimer** The Kiwi git is a mate of mine, so all is meant in jest...;)

And Waterford United of course.

He was with us for the 2006 season. He was a signing of the worst
manager I've ever seen, Mike Kerley.

But don't get me wrong, he's a decent player.

Wouldn't agree that it's make or break yet, we don't even have a license or a fixture list yet, let's wait and see what kinda hand he's dealt before guiding him towards the plank.

And I think that an affordable Darren Young could be a good addition, never got a fair crack of the whip last time round.

What would you class as 'make' though? promotion?

Well, it looks very much like Fingal are going to 'buy' themselves the title. After that I feel its a level playing field amongst the rest, and if we improve upon what we did last season, then it (promotion) has to be a priority. It looks like Paul Finucane will be back....a massive gain...and Brian O'Callaghan too. Actually, given the second half of last season, and those signings, then you would have to say promotion is an expectancy.

Gutted to loose the CocaCola Kid! :p

Made very few appearences for us, was shocking in the few he made but fair
play to the lad he knew it and openly acknowledged it :)

So that makes him a prime candidate to play absolute class and score winning
goals against us. Thats what usully happens to players who are brutal with us!

In fairness, I think he had no real interest in playing football last season, but you guys were throwing around ridiculous money up there, so he'd have been an idiot to refuse it.

I don't think Fingal are wrong to go out and sign the best players they can. We'd do the same if we could. Frankly, if we had a load of money and didn't buy good players or offer good players good money I'd be ****£d off.

nothing against the lads comming in but what the hell is wrong with Paddy and Danno?
Paddy is solid, Danno is, the best first division center half, rock solid, scores goals....was our only perfoming center half for the first part of last season. when the rest came back he was dropped but brought back in as we were losing too many arial battles. He was also the club player of the year last year!! if the lads come in, what of Danno? my back four would be white, danno, paddy and Molam. there is no place for the two lads comming in but i can see a back four of Tommy, Calla, Paddy and Finni?

LK37oldskool
01/02/2009, 7:56 PM
i think he'll play Tommy in midfield.White is the best right back we have and was surprised how little he was used in that position last season. Anyone heard about Shane Treacy? He's been let go by Galway and i believe he's been at a few training seasons with the lads.Would be a super addition to the squad.

gael353
01/02/2009, 11:41 PM
he would be a great addition and i would like to see him with us again (full time) Just before anyone goes off saying sign this fella sign some other fella remember we have a very tight budget, prob the smallest in the division and its a credit to the manager and the committee for making the club work they way it does. We have and will have a very compeditive side and Fingal aside, i would be expecting a very rewarding season for all the fans of Limerick. But remember success doesnt come cheap so can i ask fans to join the friends of limerick/leos lottery. or if your company is in a position enter the jersey draw...www.limerickfc.ie or call 061 324563

Conor Molan is back with Limerick?? Great news if he is, top player, gets stuck in and is 100% committed in every game ive seen him play. Himself and Tracey would be two excellent players to have. People understand the financial restraints so I think once the bulk of last seasons team remain (and maybe 1 or 2 players) most people will be pretty happy. I Know i will :D

would not be so sure about Finny going back, Limerick were asked to leave UL yesterday morning because they had not paid for the facilities, now how can the club offer contracts to players when they can't pay for training facilities? oh and my sources are 4 players who are currently training with Limerick and have played the last couple of seasons.

Could they not just run the pitchs and around the bowl free of charge in that case? I mean why bother getting up on a sunday morning and not at least do a bit?

total bull****! for a start we all prob know the four ur talking about. Limerick FC have rented no outdoor grass facilites at this time of the year cos most of them are unplayable. If we didnt rent them then why pay for them???Limerick have rented at great expense indoor and all weather facilities for this time of the year. now the fact that your buds are running stories to you already from simply training for a few weeks makes me wonder will the club, should the club offer any of them any sort of contract. Contracts run from March to November with Limerick, this is early feb. Amateurs can be signed at the moment professionals up to early march. Friendly this sat but im sure your lads will let us know where

All I have to say to this is that I was there on Sunday, as I am every Sunday, and no one has ever been asked to leave AFAIK. Not only do we play there unimpeded but there are often full teams using a quarter of the pitch for training.

If it happens to clash with training by one of the UL teams then that's that, but if not, then everyone is free to use it so why should they pay?

Back on topic: Darren Young and Finny would be great additions to an already strong team. I'd love to see Tommy back in MF with Wayne.

I think Paddy has a lot to prove this year tbh. He never got back to form after his injury last season, was carrying weight throughout and could benefit from some competition for places. Danagher did much better than him last year. If Paul Finucane is anywhere near the type of player he was then Danno and Finni would probably be my choice if they were able to gel in pre-season.

joeSoap

A back four of Brian O'Callaghan, Finny, Paddy and Young would be formidable.

A middle four of Tommy, Wayne Colbert, Jason Hughes and Conor Molan would be decent.

Gary Sheehan and John Tierney up front would score a few goals.

Thats not a bad side...and I know theres a few more we could call on....

Then why did Dave Mahedy refuse to let the team into the arena on Sunday morning to train?

They were asked to leave the pitch due to the poor condition's underfoot, no more or less than that.nothing to do with money.

The pitches are a major concern there at the moment with UL clubs unable to play on them because of conditions and them being saved for the Harding Cup this week

Incorrect, I was actually speaking to someone from UL last night and Limerick owe UL money and from now on will not be allowed to use the facilities there, also the players don't even know where or if they will be training this week

Paddywhackspurs

They owe money all over the place. Thats why we need sponsorship to geep the club afloat. the people who are running the club now are doing a fine job with little of nothing.
