On the Bohs forum that Matt Gregg may sign for them. Hope we take cash, as I wouldn't trust a cheque from them.

Maybe we could get a bit of Dalymount. One of the bars would be my choice.

Nah; they smell rather bad since they had to cut back on their cleaning budget.
Also, if they come with a free bar manager, then that's definitely a no-deal.

I'm not as adventurous as pineapple stu.
So I'd take that offer.

Matt Gregg to Bohs is confirmed. Any fee yet to be agreed, but he was under contract to us, so assume we'll get something. Ger Barron and Billy Brennan going for the keeper's jersey this year.

Don't think so.
Where'd you hear that?

Almost certain he is gone.

Oh well. Think Barron was likely to get the no 1 spot anyway.

Where'd you hear that?Simple deduction: everyone's gone so therefore he must be.

Did Bohs lose Murphy or is Gregg going there to sit on the bench?:(

Bench for the moment, but Murphy seems to want out if anyone'll take him.

Looks like Ronan Finn is going to stay at the club. Also Paul Byrne training at the moment.
Looks like Ronan Finn is going to stay at the club.Chat to him Sunday & it didn't sound like he was going anywhere. I'd be pretty pixzed off if he were to go anywhere coz I think he's the new Gary Dicker (and I'm only just getting over his transfer!).

Excellent. He'd be a perfect signing for the First Division. Hopefully there's more good news like this on the way. Would make a change.
Edit - he's signed for Bray apparently (http://foot.ie/showpost.php?p=1099022&postcount=20).
Ho hum.

I doubt Bermo will go to Drogheda- already has offers from a few other clubs for a while now and things are almost sorted out.
McNally and Kenna would be possibilities though. McNally hasn't had any offers from any clubs. Don't know about Kenna but if McNally goes to Drogs I'd be say the chances are high that Kenna would follow him.
EDIT: deal for McNally nearly sorted. Presumably Drogs.

The terrifying / tantalising prospect of Angus, Harpo, Pineapple, The Bald and Aberdonian Students requiring boots to tip up and play this year is coming closer !

They were never going to be coming back in fairness. Just a pain that they're going to that joke of a club.

Bald Student is unemployed, which means more tax credits to the club. Just the way they like it. Rest of us are out, though. And we'd have to listen to Student Mullet moaning about favouritism for the season too.
Any thoughts on Enda Stevens ?
Supposedly signing with pats

Played at left back a couple of times last year, including away to Pats when Ryan Guy caused him an awful lot of trouble, he didn't have the pace to deal with him. I don't think he was ready for premier division football last year but may have come on since.

18 yo left back. Made the Ireland U18 squad last year when it was only for home based players and played the full game.
Only played a couple of first team games so hard to judge what he is like. Looked promising but obviously a bit shaky considering his inexperience. Likes to get forward quite a bit. Somebody you saw a lot of A Championship games could probably give you a better opinion of him. Also, just to give you a comparison, I highly doubt he will turn out as good as Bermo (who I presume is not going to Pats if you're signing Stevens?)

Was awful against Pat's in the 3-0 in Belfield. You remember him even if you don't recognise the name. Didn't play again for the first team. Wouldn't be the first UCD player to play a bad game, obviously, but another Alan Cawley type signing for youz (i.e. not what you're used to recently), I'd say.
cheers lads, hopefully he has improved from the game in belfield

Poo. Hoped to keep him. Can't see him getting Stockport if Hamilton weren't interested.

Hamilton have some good young central midfielders like McArthur and McCarthy. Stockport may deficient in that area.

Timmy's there because of Mathews. Majority of opinion on Cork forum that he struggled. I'd say he might get a chance to impress at Drogheda. Comments from Corkies:
not too keen on 8, 19 and 6 (Duggan)
davin and timmy both looked bright when they came on
I hope we don't sign:
Shane Duggan
Matthias Kullstrom
Timmy Purcell
David Brito
Levi Reid
6. Shane Duggan...Industrious and busy
10.Timmy Purcell...Played very well, he impressed me
I would sign...based on todays performance and reports from training...
Robert Mezeckis
Gints Femanis
Timmy Purcell
Daniel Gattering
Darragh Ryan

Bermo's on trial at Stockport again, Alan Mahon's retired most likely, Shorty's training with us and talking to Monaghan.
Edit - the two McMillans have signed though.
Jeez, Cork are going downhill!
Hardly. Anyone who wanted a trial got one I imagine (we played 11 trialists, 5 members of our squad, 1 from our youths, and another trialist and youth player didn't come on). We were looking at Duggan as one of a number of centre-mids who would be backup for Gamble and Healy since Darren Murphy is gone (unfortunately).

Mathews is gone. :)
Comments from Corkies:
The second quote is most likely referring to Timmy Kiely. We started with Silagallis and Purcell up front. We started the second half with Davin and Timmy up front.

Bermo and Kinger in action against Manchester United today - link (http://www.stockportcounty.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10419~1550764,00.html).
Seven triallists in the Stockport side in the Manchester Senior Cup. Dean Lawrence was with Shels last apparently.
Edit - County won 8-7 on penalties after a 0-0 draw. Bermo played the whole game, Kinger was substituted.

He's a part time player. At 30, he may no longer consider the burden on his free time worth the hassle, especially given that (a) his dad just left the club, (b) most likely all of his mates have left the club, (c) we're in the bloody first division again and (d) it's severely reduced pay all round!

Great news that Ev has stayed on. Should do well in the First and captain material. Could end up most experienced first teamer...

Only if we sell Finn. Most experienced defender though, yeah, looking quite likely. I'm sure he'll be fine. It's the other three defenders I want to see!

They're all fair points. Still, he has a few left to offer and he's spent a good deal of time at the club, it's sad to see him end his career short. I'm not his biggest fan by any means but he has a great deal of experience and gives 100% every game. It would be nice to see some continuity with all the change. But if the rumour is true then I thank him for all his efforts over the years.
John83
10/02/2009, 8:27 PM
I'd love to see him at the club next year too, particularly as he'd probably have more league appearances under his belt than the rest of the squad combined: we've always lacked experience, and it'll be particularly acute this time. I was just suggesting motives if the rumour is true.
