    Montenegro U21 v Rep of Ireland U21

The game is live from 2.15 on Setanta Sports, with kick off at 2.30.

Anyone expect a win here, the away form in friendlies have been impressive so a win is not out of the question, but it will be tough.

Cheers for the heads up! It's not listed on their online schedule but I checked the Sky EPG and it's there. Good news. I'll catch most of it before heading to the airport.

    Team I think:

    Quigley
    Nolan - Keogh (c) - O’Cearuill - Powell
    Gleeson - O’Toole - Quinn
    O’Brien - Rooney - Treacy

They should be playing a lot better, but at least some sort of encouragement of late.

Anyone know why Owen Garvan is not playing. Two centre halves look very poor, O Cearuill and Keogh.

Better in the second half, more pressure on their defence and the keeper is getting tested. Rooney was put through at one point, but had his shot well saved.

    How did O'Toole do?

Gave away the ball for the opening goal, came into the game in the second half and was substituted for Sammon.
Overall, a draw would have been a fair result. We had more clear cut chances than Montenegro, but they looked more like they would take the chances they had.
I felt the midfield was a bit lightweight, O'Toole had to do a lot of work by himself, but were good going forward. Treacy was anonymous in the first half, apart from a shot from distance late on, and improved dramatically in the second half with some decent crossing and free kicks. Unfortunately Rooney up front by himself doesn't look to be a target man.
When their keeper was tested under a high ball, he looked suspect, but made some top saves to keep a clean sheet, one save in particular midway through the second half from Rooney.
The defence was poor in the first half, and weren't moving together, and were lucky to only concede the one goal, Keogh in particular seemed to be slower to move out. They did improve in the second half, but that could have been because the opposition played a lot more defensively as the game wore on.

    Who was in charge

Didn't do any worse than the Don anyway. Defeat by less than a goal should be enough to earn him the U-21 job for at least seven years, judging by recent standards.

Pretty difficult to lose by less than a goal

Back in the older times league titles were decided by goal average. You could lose by a fraction of a goal but I take your point.
