A quick Man United effort:-
Gregg
O'Shea
Moran
McGrath
Irwin
Best
Keane
Giles
Daly
Whiteside
Stapleton
Would be a bit patchy without the N.I. guys. Don't think there's ever been a Republic GK at United?
There was a programme on Liverpool FCTV on St Patrick's Day with John Aldridge picking an all time
Irish Liverpool team. It was
Elisha Scott (a bit ancient and before the IFA / FAI split)
Finnan
Staunton
Lawrenson
Beglin
Houghton
Whelan
McAteer
Heighway
Aldridge
Keane
(strangely Michael Robisnon and Ken de Mange not included) Could any other club side put out a better all Irish selection that this?

No goalkeeper, and not the strongest side in the world, but all of these players have been capped
Wolves:
X
Foley
Mark Clyde (NI, but I'm struggling at this point...if Ward ever gets capped he can play here)
Breen
Irwin
Keogh
Gibson (sub: Potter)
Andrews (sub: Gleeson)
Kennedy
David Kelly (sub: Doyle)
Robbie Keane (sub: Connolly)
More subs could be Stephen Elliott, Dominic Foley, Glen Crowe
Manager: Mick McCarthy

see here - Pat Dunne played in goal for United and has 5 capsWould be a bit patchy without the N.I. guys. Don't think there's ever been a Republic GK at United?
Paddy's career at United wasn't that short - he was there for 8 years (1973 to 1982) but was a perpetual benchwarmer serving as backup to Alex Stepney and Gary Bailey. He did play 46 league games for United but that was in the days when you had a good squad of 13 or 14 players and once someone got injured you had to make do with some pretty average replacements. Roche subsequently played in the lower divisions for a number of years with Brentford and Halifax.
8 caps for Ireland but this was in the days of Mick Kearns as well. Imagine the time when we were thrilled to get Seamus McDonagh. We have been very lucky in the last 22 years to have had Packie (despite his faults), Alan Kelly and Shay.

Celtic could put together an average Republic of Ireland team and a slightly stronger all-Ireland one.
Republic of Ireland (3-4-3)
Bonner
Morris
McCarthy
Pierce O'Leary
McGeady
Roy Keane
Miller
Healy
Coyne
Cascarino
Robbie Keane
For an All-Ireland team I'd just inlcude Anton Rogan, Neil Lennon and Charlie Tully instead of O'Leary, Miller and Healy.
