if nothing else, it would put the Andy Reid debate to bed
I think that is a little harsh Stu but I admit i would also wonder what would keep him from doing a Roy Keane the night before a big game in Moscow or something. It is fair to say it would always be a possibility.
With that said you seem like you are usually a pragmatic guy, and you wouldnt be sick of hearing him scoring or setting up much needed timely goals I dont think.

Bring Back Belfast Celtic F.C.
I am sure now that his Man City career is thumbling down, that representing Ireland might appeal to him a little bit more. Says a lot about the guy. He wasn't even in the match day squad for their last game against Chelsea. To think that only 2 weeks after Hughes got sacked, Ireland was in the papers giving out about Hughes always playing him out of position. Ungrateful ****er
i hear what youre saying Crosby but id like to think that id never like seeing him on an Irish teamsheet or celebrating one of his goals IF he ever decided to come back. The guys an egomaniac and has messed around with the team and the fans feelings for far too long. Im happy that he is sweating now. I was delighted that this thread was off the forum for so long and that he had been forgotten about. It bugs me that a lot of people would welcome a traitor like him back so quickly and yet question the Irishness of 2g's who have represented the country with such commitment.

"Every game I go into, I go into with the mentality of a winner," Ireland said. "I want to win for myself, the team and especially for the gaffer because I think it's really important he stays. I really enjoy playing under him. A lot of the players are the same and want to win for him"

"The last six months under Mark Hughes was very frustrating for me," he told the FA's official website.
"I was being played out of position. Maybe as a holding midfielder, left wing, right wing. It is not me"
I assume the last 6 months were mid Nov 2008 to mid May 2009
To be honest I do not think that I could handle my concerns for his Grandmothers if he came back. Would we have to supply minders for all his relatives every game. Could we as a nation cope with the stress of worrying about his relatives.
What a tool, I don't want him back without a public apology.
My Guarantee
Am looking for old Irish matches on VHS, PM me if you have some and I'll upload them here
Well said Stu...Good post.
I guess so far the people on here have spoken against it. I am all for it but i will remember (if of course he does come back) that I wanted him to if it doesnt go well.
Obviously I can see how people think he is too mental to commit to this. BUT at this point I would take it if it gets us to Brazil, Ukraine, Poland, whatever.....
No Somos muchos pero estamos locos.
I have flip flopped on this issue for a long time. I don't think he's handled this well, and he's clearly immature or has a very low IQ. That said, this is a new campaign, and if he participates from the very beginning (training camp onwards), and does everything Trap asks him to do, I say we give him a second chance.
If he f*cks up his second chance, then at least we will know that we were reasonable about it and did all we could. He was immature with many of his decisions, but I would expect Trap to show his wisdom by giving Ireland a second chance at an international career with us. If he screws us around, at least we will know that we were reasonable and did our part to make things work.
I'm not a religious man, but I think the story of a prodigal son is a good one, and perhaps on this occasion we should embrace the return of one of Ireland's sons to give him a shot at redemption.

all this new optimism is coming from an article in last weeks Star and we havent heard anything about it elsewhere so I dont think we should be gettin too excited either way about the rights or wrongs of a possible return for him until we hear something more concrete
Its really not that complicated!!!
Exactly. There is nothing else anywhere to suggest that Ireland is considering crawling back. As far as I can see, the Stephen Ireland possible return thing has been The Star's baby for the last month or too. There was an 'exclusive' two weeks ago where it claimed that Mancini was a acting a as a mediator between Ireland and Trap. Bullsh!t imo. I wouldn't expect him back. He made his contempt for the national team clear and his obvious, spiteful attempts to upset the squad before important games (ie. the Italy game and playoff) with routine interviews where he states that he has no interest in international football/Trapattoni is arrogant etc, etc make me wonder do we ever want the little tw@t back. With Whelen, Andrews, S. Reid (hopefully!), McCarthy and possibly O'Hara, our midfield will be in good stead for the Euro qualifiers. Stephen Manchester will be busy warming the bench in the Europa League.
he's a real gem. Someone we can all be proud of.
Could he be more of an english chav? he reminds me of that thug that won the lotto a few years back, Something Carroll was his name.
Delighted he has been dropped.
Michael Carroll, he's blown most of his winnings, has been declared bankrupt and is on the dole: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael...lottery_winner)
:O) good sport lads, maybe Steven is also a friend of Mad Dog Adair and in fact it was he who turned him against playing for us!!!
Thanks for the correction.
I do hope he recovers from the trauma inflicted By Hughes on his game.
