I agree completely with Gearysfans' last two posts. Sorry to go on about the Askeaton NCW game (cracker) but I had roughly the same viewing angle as Paul O'Brien for Shay Lyons' tackle on Anthony Ryan and as Shay said, his tackle went in just as Ryan tipped the ball ahead, so I wasn't sure, until I witnessed Ryan's reaction when nothing was given. I think Paul O'Brien was the same because he didn't book Ryan for what were heated remonstrations, so he must've realised his mistake. On young Griffin, he's a great talent; good brain, pace, and strength (for a wee fella) and a great strike of a ball.

On refs, give em a break, we're all human, the amount of whingin is sickening sometimes from a lot of teams and if certain refs have a problem with certain teams there's nothing we can do. It's wrong but teams can (and should) only get on with playing football.

Lastly, hopefully the Shannonside v Askeaton game will be as good this weekend.

Agree with Omarbarksdale's comment about refs and getting on with the game. Have you ever seen a ref change his mind once he's given a decision, it's pointless. I know teams and individuals can feel aggrieved, but once the decision is made thats that. Constant compaints can prejudice a referee. As well as that the ref's don't have linesmen to help them out and its very awkward to see everything given their angles and the pace of some players.
Two good games this weekend, looking forward to the Shannonside/Askeaton match.

One other point about the ref's, if it wasn't for them, we'd have no matches, everything would descend into a kickabout. They will make mistakes, as do we all, but we still need them, even the bad ones.

Anyone know when the oscar traynor side is selected?

I agree with omarbarkdale, this young Willie Griffin is a great talent. He is quick and strong for his size and plays with a smile on his face, which suggests that he takes everything in his stride and get on with things even though they may not have gone his way. Definitely one for consideration for the interleague side. He also gets his share of goals and links up play well. Should be a great game on Sunday away to Shannonside and given both sides start to the season, it would suggest a draw. Not wanting to have to go back to last Sunday but I think knocking the ref by some obvious Askeaton supporters doesn't really help. As Leeroybrown says, just get on with the game and deal with things as they happen is the best way forward.

Half time, 1 - 0 to Shannonside courtesy Ger Hanlon, Damian Fitzgibbon got the second. Maurice Carrig for Askeaton. Good game in all, played in the right way too. Hard but fair.
