    Cheltenham festival 2010

So who does everyone fancy for the festival races?

Dunguib (1.30pm) is an obvious one, and I fancy him to win myself. Won't be having a bet til just before the race I don't think. Some bookies have gone evens about him this evening, would be happy enough to take that price tomorrow. If he doesn't win though, then there'll be a lot of people's wallets with massive holes in them I think.

Go Native (3.20pm) is another big fancy of mine, really expect him to win the Champion Hurdle. His cruising speed is very good and his turn of foot is exceptional. He has Cheltenham form as well after winning the Supreme Novices last year, so the hill shouldn't be a problem for him.

Will probably have 2 nice singles and a hefty enough double on those two, with small enough bets in 1 or 2 of the other races, most notibly Somersby (2.05pm) and Razor Royale (2.40pm).

After getting burned on some supposed dead certs last year I'm staying away from the lower priced horses this year.

I'd be surprised if Dunguib doesn't win tho, got buckets of class - but he's never really raced against the English horses before so that along with his dodgy jumping makes me want to avoid backing him really, esp at evens or worse. It's very open after that. Flat out could be good e/w at 18/1.

I've gone for Medermit in the champion hurdle - very open race mind you and you could make a case for a lot of them. 3/1 about Go native is far too low given that Medermit would have beaten him in last years supreme novices but for having no luck in running - Medermit is 3 times the price, and Starluck nearly caught him on the line at Kempton at Christmas and Starluck is 4 times his price. Pity Solwhit scoped dirty last week cos I really fancied him. Hard to back him now.

I Fancy Ogee in the William Hill - won a grade 1 over hurdles last year - not sure if any other horse has done that in the race. nice e/w price 11/1. Bensalem is the one to beat tho.

Could be some day for the Irish if things go as planned. could easily win 5 out of the 6 races. Lets hope that happens.

    Good luck if you bet.

I agree with De Town in that its hard to look past Dunguib, but there is no value there

I'm going each way Lucky 15 on the following today

    Dan Breen(danger
    Sizing Europe(danger Riverside Theatre)
Ogee(danger bensalem) - can't make me mind up here but will definitely go with one of the 7 yr olds
    Punjabi

    Berst of luck!!!

Yeah Dunquib looks good, here's hoping he doesnt make a mistake on a fence as he can
Others I like for the day................Sports Line, Razor Royale, Go Native, Garde Champetre (Nina again?) and Quenega (a banker in the last for Ruby?)
Feel it will be a good festival for Willie Mullins and P Brennan, and Ruby of course!

Might I suggest a tv programme tonight that RTe are showing following Paul Nolan called Race Horses - well worth a watch. Im currently watching it now, via the web and it gives a great insight into the world of horse racing. Its from the BBC Storyville series, and despite what RTE might say it aint an RTE show!!!!

    1.30 Dunguib (win),Flat Out (E/W)
    2.05 Sizing Europe (win),Sports Line (E/W)
    2.40-------------------
    3.20 Go Native (win),Zaynar (E/W)

I just hope the Irish horses cope with the quicker ground as at home it's been very soft all year.

Was about to ask the same Magicme, Doctor Deejay at eachway is a hot tip I got, I quite fancy Deutschland in the 4pm race. Remeber Paddy power pays out on first 5 places for the 4pm race tomorrow.

Thank god for Ruby, saved me on the last so I will have some money for today..............
Nina gave a very bad ride, but then the ground was too good for her, much prefer a mucky day perhaps, and her brother wasn't too better - maybe time to call it a day?
I would reckon a good few Irish punters would have had Seizing Europe and Binocular - so a mixed day for the Irish punters.
The racing was quite good though, and I think today there is much better value going................

Struggling after yesterday - and always wary of any races sponsored by a bookmaker.

Think Finians Rainbow and Khalahari King are going to be my main bets today, small ones. with covers on the fav's.

I think James De Vassey has a chance in the Coral (ffs) cup at 20/1 ran 4th to Khyber Kim in the greatwood and that looks like decent form now albeit giving a lot of weight away. Worth the e/w with 5 places on offer from most bookies.

Had a good day myself with Big Zeb and Sanctuaire winning, and Burton Port and Frawley placing. Needed that after a bad day yesterday! Just worked out my totals and I'm up €1.26 overall!

Absolutely cleaned out - backed 2 donkeys, 4 nags and a three legged rocking horse.

Still God loves a trier - if i broke even from here on in id be happy.

Fair play if you backed a winner or two today. That bumper horse beat all 40/1 - you could hear a pin drop there.

Another Walsh saved me today - this time Kate, wow what a great ride she gave Poker de S
The other Walsh - Ruby - was all over the place today, jeez
Barry Geraty was awesome, and good to see a Westmeath horse up there taking the honours
Another great day of racing, and I think a good few Irish punters would have gone with O Leary's horse and Big Zeb
    Just about breaking even myself
    so onto tomorrow..................
