6 month diary, how are you looking?

Right, half way through 2008 and how is your betting P&L looking?

I'm up about £1300 for the year to date plus my bank of £500. I've been down nearly £500 as well but have turned it round.

Bear in mind I hedge out all my bets and tend to only bet in-running.

How is everyone else going this year to date?

Up and down. I only really dabble with fivers and tenners mostly but generally manage to come out ahead overall. Certainly a bit ahead of where I was at the start of the year, not sure how much though. Most betting being on football.

In fact I'm still playing with the same €20 I lodged to bet on the Grand National a couple of years ago. Since then I've withdrawn €250 and sit at over €100 at the moment.

The irony is that we have a betting syndicate at work and I can't pick a winner to save my life on it.

Jesus lads, it's a thread about betting in a very quiet betting forum, no need to get so stroppy about it.

    First few weeks.

I dont bet the first few weeks in the LOI,theres always a few unexpected results. On the first weekend Galway Utd beat Pats etc.Its settled down now into 2 mini leagues and so SHOULD be easier and will start again soon.
As reguards that guy down 100e on golf.Golf is EXTREMELY hard to bet on,you can pick a form golfer whos suited to the course etc but then he goes and bottles it etc and you've lost.Individual sports are the hardest.Apart from Roger for Wimbledon though, thats a shoe in..

Golf may be harder for you because you don't really know whats going to happen. Some people focus on golf and they'll say that football betting is ridiculous. Plenty of betting markets in all sports. I know a guy who bets almost exclusively on match bets and three ball bets in Golf. Hugely succesful too

Wouldn't have a big betting interest but used always throw €10/€20 on 4 or 5 teams in the soccer at the wkd. Hugely unsuccessful though I must admit. It was generally one team that would leave me down, more often than not a draw. The best run I had was during the 2006 WC using handicap betting and H/T-F/T.

Any explanation for my hopelessness in the regular wkd games. Are there better methods maybe other than picking 4/5 teams to win? or am I just crap? I'd generally have picked the favourites at about 1/2 or better.

As I've posted before. if you're betting €10 for interet then you're ok but if you're betting to win, accumulators are generally bad news.

I very, very rarely bet on anything other than singles (in fact most of my gambling is done in play)

Fine I'll do it your way Dodge!! Had a tenner in my Paddy Power a/c so threw it on the Swedes to score at some stage at 4/7. Start small.

England up 1-0 by the way, goal in first minute- Martin Cranie. Agbonlahor has been booked as is out of Final should England progress.

    Edit: 2-0 now. Nedum Onuoha

I'm up overall on my LOI betting, but it's only small fry to be honest. I lost out big time on the English/Scottish season just ended, so I'm still recovering from that.

Down of football but up on horses and other miscellaneous stuff. Only got online accounts around April so don't really have much of a record of my bets.

I threw my massive winnings (€15.71 including my tenner back) on Sweden to win the pens. That's me finished with the gambling game for a while.

Well yeah maybe - but i will check later - hard to know since i gamble everyday!!!!!!!
Football is my thing, but bloddy horse racing always takes

But to be honest - there isnt much on this year to really get my teeth into -
next year will be the whopper - African nations and the WC

Much rather have a thread discussing betting styles, etc
I dont like accums, will gamble from 1 euro right upto 100 (if it is a "banker") Dont like to gamble at anything less than evens really, but if needs must.
Have a keen interest in all sports.
