Great to see a LOI player called up.
if he does go it will mean he misses probably 3 matches for Rovers but wouldn't it be great to see him do well and prove the magic Airplane to England isn't needed to be able to play for Ireland.

Fair play to burkey in getting the call up.
But the one Hoop I expect to see regularly in the ireland shirt in times to come is aaron bolger.
Id be frankly shocked if he doesnt make it to the top, injury permitting of course.
Shamrock Rovers- Where trophies are won and envy is scarce
If he was only called up for Celtic match on 20 May he would presumably miss the away trip to Sligo on 19 May
The other internationals - France on 28 May and USA on 2 June potentially rule him out for another 3 games
22 May - St Pats (h) , 25 May - Bohs (a), and and 1 June - Dundalk (h)
Maybe he could play in the St Pats game, but missing 3-4 league games would seem to be a heavy price to pay, even if making international appearances would boost the possibility of getting a decent fee for him
He could come back to Rovers after the Celtic game for Pats and Bohs matches and rejoin the Irish squad on the 26th, would only miss the Sligo and Dundalk games then.
Of course he could be cut when the squad is finalised and miss nothing.
Either way its a great opportunity for him to show that LOI players can look at home at that level.
Maybe in the interest of fairness Stephen Kenny would pick his second choice No 10 in that game!
It's more an opportunity for the player involved and for him and Rovers to potentially cash in from a transfer.
MON simply doesn't believe that LoI players are playing at a high enough level to appear in competitive internationals
Whether O Neil believes it or not if Burke performs well then it opens the door for the likes of Ronan Curtis, Trevor Clarke, McEneff etc to be given a chance.
Hopefully he doesn't get cut when they cut the squad and gets more than a sub appearance 10 mins from full-time.
The poverty of real talent available at the moment in terms of Irish players playing at the top level in the UK is such that the top players in the LOI deserve at least a chance in these friendlies.
Fair play to him. Hopefully get some sort of a run, not like we are over blessed with talent.
I don't think McEneff (Aaron) declared ? Was it not just the younger brother?
As a league we need to fully break the ceiling of having footballers from our own league called into squads for representative games such that it becomes normal or expected. The league as a whole will benefit. And ultimately great for our national team too.
Whether it’s Bohs, Rovers, Cork or Sligo leading the way on this doesn’t bother me at all. Well done Graham Burke.
Good luck to him. It's be great if I a few years it was the norm to have a handful of loi players in the international set up. The league needs to be a viable path to the top, this kind of thing helps
Aaron was overage for the 21s I think so he didn't put the paperwork through as he wanted to keep his options open. Jordan made the decision young enough that he could still make his one change of allegiance back to the north in the future. If MON wanted to pick Aaron tomorrow he'd put his paperwork through.
I'd agree. Any LOI representatives in the national team set up, particularly younger players is good to see.
The cynic in me thinks ... Shams see an opportunity to cash in on Burke and any International experience will bump up the price. Their board (or Duffer) make a call!!! And why not, the more LOI clubs can cash in the better.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!
Shane Supple called up. Delighted for him.

I hope he gets a run out and it doesn't screw up his form for 12 months (as happened in the case of Gary Rogers).
Is Burke still in the squad?
"Can we just have one thread for all the LOI player international call-ups please."
